A super cheap standing bar where you can enjoy dishes starting from 100 yen and drinks starting from 200 yen has opened! Located in Osaka Station Front Building No. 4, the standing bar "Shomin Maido! Yamadera" is where I enjoyed ladder sake on this day. The shop is a standing bar called "Shomin" that opened in March, and we went there. The atmosphere of the shop and more detailed information can also be found on YouTube, so please check it out. Let's enter the shop right away. It's a popular shop indeed, as there was a small line even before opening, but luckily there was space at the standing bar counter, so we decided to drink there. I started with a sweet potato shochu highball for 200 yen. They use Kuro Kirishima sweet potato shochu here, which is to my liking. For food, I ordered the Spicy Salad for 100 yen. Whenever I come here, I tend to order the Spicy Salad, as it is cheap and delicious! I enjoyed this while sipping on my drink. Another dish I ordered was the Red Clam Sashimi for 300 yen. The glossy red clam looked very fresh. When I tried it, the crispy texture and delicious taste of the red clam were amazing. And for only 300 yen, it was a great deal! Next, I tried the Konowata Vinegar Pickled for 150 yen! The konowata pickled in vinegar had a rich flavor that spread in my mouth when I chewed it. It was really delicious and highly recommended! For my second drink, I had a Plain Chuhai for 200 yen. I also enjoyed the Grilled Atka Mackerel for 150 yen. The crispy and browned Atka mackerel was delicious when eaten whole. It had a fragrant and rich taste similar to shishamo. This was a perfect snack to go with the alcohol! However, this 150 yen might be cheaper than buying it at the supermarket. The Pickled Vegetable Assortment for 200 yen was a combination of cucumbers, eggplants, and pickled vegetables. The cucumbers were nicely pickled in bran and tasted delicious. The other pickled vegetables were also well-pickled and tasty. For the finale, I had the Braised Beef Tendon for 200 yen! The rich and intense miso flavor paired perfectly with the beef tendon's umami taste. When we visited as a group of two, the total bill was only 1900 yen!!! I was truly surprised by how affordable it was. By the way, with the opening of the Osaka Station Front Building No. 4, Shomin now has stores in all four buildings from No. 1 to No. 4. Of course, this shop has become one of my favorites, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal. On this day, I had: - Plain Chu-hi for 250 yen - Beef Tataki for 250 yen This shop, which has its main store in Kyoto, offers extremely cheap standing drinking. I have visited their locations in Kyobashi and Temma before, but this was my first time in Osaka. It was a bit disappointing to see that the price of the Plain Chu-hi had been raised by 50 yen since my last visit. However, the Beef Tataki is still incredibly cheap and delicious.

I felt like having a light drink at four buildings and decided to go to Shomin for lunch. The feeling of indulgence in drinking at lunchtime is comforting. The tataki and negitoro were delicious! The quantity and taste of the food are outstanding. It's so tasty that I ended up having a second drink without realizing it. It seems like you might get stuck if you go in with two people. Even when alone, it's reassuring to go to Shomin. It's always crowded, but I will go again if the timing is right!

In July 2023, with about 40 minutes until meeting a friend, I headed straight to a standing bar due to the scorching heat outside. I went down to the basement of the Osaka Station Front Building No. 4, and decided to visit "Standing Bar Shomin Osaka Station Front Building No. 4 Store". I have visited "Shomin" many times, but this was my first time at the "Osaka Station Front Building No. 4 Store". I like the sense of unity among customers in the cozy space at Shomin, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks. As usual, I ordered a bottle of beer (medium) for 350 yen and a sashimi platter for 500 yen. The ice-cold beer was poured into a glass and I drank it in one gulp. After catching my breath, the sashimi platter arrived. It included 2 pieces each of mackerel, salmon, and tuna, as well as a large shrimp with head and tail. I had actually wanted mackerel in the platter, so I was happy to see it included! I savored the delicious sashimi and beer leisurely, and before I knew it, it was almost time for the meeting. I asked for the bill, which came to a total of 850 yen for a delightful experience in the "Wonderland of Delicious Fun". I will definitely visit again!

Before heading home, I used this place as a last stop since it was closing in an hour. It was not crowded, probably because of the timing. Although the place is small, it feels cozy when it's not busy. The shrimp sashimi was delicious, even though it was the last order. The rolled omelette and tofu hot pot were also satisfying for the price. With the recent increase in the number of stores, it's recommended to aim for less crowded ones for a great value experience.

I stayed in Osaka despite the rough weather. The morning Shinkansen was out of the question, so I booked the evening one and went out into the city. I headed to the old building I remembered from the past. There, I found a familiar Japanese-style restaurant, and next to it was a local Osaka restaurant. It seemed like the Osaka restaurant was trying to compete with the Japanese-style one. In respect to Osaka, I decided to go to the local restaurant. It had a counter with 15 seats and 2 tables, a small place where they cook in front of you. I ordered a draft beer, which was surprisingly only 250 yen. They quickly served it to me. I also ordered chilled tofu (100 yen) and a tuna roll (probably 350 yen). The place was full by 11:30 am, but the 3 staff members efficiently managed the restaurant. The chilled tofu was a good size, similar to what you can buy in supermarkets, and the tuna roll was of good quality. I ordered another beer and a spaghetti salad, a nostalgic taste from the Showa era. I spent about 45 minutes there and paid 1150 yen. It truly caters to the common people. The fact that it was non-smoking was also great. I will definitely visit again.

At Osaka Station Buildings 1 to 4, there are different restaurants in each building. The newly opened 4th building has a very clean restaurant. Last order is at 9:30 PM and they close at 9:45 PM. The yudofu (hot tofu) is delicious and only costs 150 yen, making it great value for money. The regulars order Kirin bottled beer, but starting with a draft beer is the way to go! Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beer is only 250 yen. The restaurant is a friend of the common people. Bravo!

After finishing work, even though it's evening, I still want to drink a cold beer in this heat and I want to do it cheaply, so I come to this store that feels comfortable for the common people. It's been a while since I last came, and I noticed that the Spaghetti Salad, Fried Chicken, and Yellowtail Sashimi have all been raised by 50 yen. Still, the Spaghetti Salad is 150 yen and the Fried Chicken is 200 yen. The Oden remains at 150 yen. I ordered two beers for 250 yen each, so I have achieved a "senbero" (cheap drinking) experience! Even if it's a standing bar, only the common people can drink at this price.

I have visited the Kyobashi store in the past, but this was my first time at the Fourth Building store. I always have the impression that it's crowded, but I was lucky to get in on this day. The drinks are so cheap here, it's incredible value for money. I wonder if the store is making a profit... The food is also inexpensive, and I really appreciate that as a drinker. I visited this shop again, as I always do. I dropped by for a drink around 2:30 pm on a holiday. The place was almost full and bustling. This time, I ordered the following: Draft beer (medium) for 250 yen, assorted oden for 150 yen, highball for 250 yen, and beef tataki for 250 yen. The price of the assorted oden went up by 50 yen since last week, but it's still very reasonable. It included chikuwa, konjac, and beef tendon, just like last time. I still haven't encountered daikon in it. I didn't plan on getting the beef tataki this time, but seeing other customers order it made me want some too. I'm easily influenced by others. In the end, my drink and food choices were the same as last time. I'm curious about other items on the menu as well. The Wiener sausage that other customers were ordering looked bigger than I imagined and very appetizing. It was the size of a hot dog. Next time, I might skip the beef tataki and go for the Wiener sausage instead. Thank you for the meal.

It's becoming my favorite standing bar recently. They have a decent variety of drinks, the prices are cheap, and the seafood is fresh and delicious. But my favorite is the oden. Most places use tendon meat skewered on a stick, which isn't actual tendon. But here, they use the regular red meat tendon you can find at a butcher, so it's flavorful and tasty. It recently went up to 150 yen, but it's rare to find a place where you can eat oden at this price. The spaghetti salad is only 100 yen and has a good portion, the futomaki sushi roll has plenty of tuna and a nice texture, proving its freshness. Personally, I can't miss out on the fried chicken. Three large pieces for 150 yen, juicy with a simple seasoning, it's a familiar and delicious taste. The oden and fried chicken have that comforting flavor. This was my third stop, so I only had one lemon chu-hi. Spaghetti salad, futomaki sushi roll, fried chicken, oden, that's a meal for one person at Noguchi-san's place. It's exactly 1000 yen, so it's a great deal. It's cheap. I want to come here every day. By the way, the popular item here is the beef tataki. Sometimes it sells out if you go in the afternoon. Attracted by the affordability, I couldn't resist visiting this shop again for a daytime drink. I went around 3 pm on a holiday and it was about half full. This time, I sat at the counter in the back where you can see the cooking and the oden pot right in front of you. Here's what I ordered this time: Draft beer (medium) for 250 yen, oden assortment of 3 items for 100 yen, beef tataki for 200 yen, highball for 250 yen. The oden assortment came with chikuwa, konnyaku, and beef tendon. It's surprising that beef tendon is included for just 100 yen. I was contemplating whether to order the beef tataki when I heard "Only 3 orders of tataki left!" so I quickly placed my order. I've had tataki at other places before, but the meat here was so tender and delicious. Grated garlic added a nice kick. It was a paradise in my mouth. And all this for just 200 yen. A must-try! The total bill came to 800 yen. Not your typical cheap drink spot. There was another customer who had a bill of around 3000 yen dining alone. Quite a lavish spender for us common folks. I haven't encountered daikon in the oden yet, so I might keep ordering the oden assortment until I do. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I ordered the following: 2 draft beers for 250 yen each, Spicy Salad for 100 yen, and Mackerel Sashimi for 250 yen. The Spicy Salad seems to be a popular choice among customers, probably because it's only 100 yen. It's a good deal considering the generous portion. The Mackerel Sashimi was cut fresh after I ordered, and I appreciated the thick slices. The customer next to me ordered a 3-item Oden set for 100 yen, which included daikon and beef tendon. The variety is always a surprise with the Oden set. My total bill came to 850 yen, which feels almost too cheap. The restaurant has only been open since March, but it already has a lot of regular customers. I'm jealous of how quickly they've built up a following. I'm curious about the omelette I saw other customers ordering, it looked quite large. Next time, I'll make sure to save room in my stomach for the omelette. Thank you for the meal.

Hello~ It's Saturday, but of course I'm still working at the construction site in Akashi. On my way back to Osaka Station, I saw a lot of people wearing Hanshin Tigers uniforms. Looks like the Tigers won today. I was really curious about the baseball game, but I couldn't get radio reception along the seaside construction site. Oh well! Hey, old man! Don't cross the street on a red light wearing a Hanshin Tigers uniform. People always say stuff like "That's why Hanshin fans are..." It seems like a lot of people wearing those fluffy Mario-themed hats from USJ are also walking around. What's going on? Everyone seems to be in a playful mood. I guess I'll have some fun too. Just one drink. There's a new standing bar in Building 4, where the commoners of the lower town are making their first visit. It's close to Higashi-Umeda Station, so let's check it out. It's a nice and clean place with a modern atmosphere. It's crowded, but it's cool. The leader of the sashimi section and the other staff are friendly and provide good service. Draft beer for 250 yen and beef tataki for 200 yen. The beer is Asahi Super Dry. The beef tataki, with chewy lean meat and lots of garlic on top, was delicious. My wife almost caught me eating it, but she didn't (laughs). All of this for just 450 yen, that's cheap. I wanted to smoke a cigarette afterwards, but it seems to be non-smoking. On Sunday at 6:30 PM, the restaurant was about 80% full. I was surprised to see a new branch of Shokunin in the 4th building, as I didn't remember it being there before. It seems like it opened on March 5th. The interior was cleaner and slightly less cramped compared to the previous Shokunin I visited. The prices are still a bit crazy, ranging from 100 yen for appetizers to 500 yen for a sashimi platter. But the taste is undeniably good. The sashimi, especially the tuna, was impressive. Shokunin has branches all over, and it's a good choice for the first stop as it can significantly reduce the total bill for subsequent stops. I still wonder how they manage to make a profit with these prices, but considering how quickly they are expanding, they must be doing well. Note that my scoring criteria are based on cost-performance, so the rating may seem higher than usual.

The tofu, cooked with fish, had a delicious flavor soaked in. Sprinkling some shichimi spice on it is recommended! The grilled fishcake is a must-order if available! It's usually around 500 to 800 yen elsewhere, so 300 yen is a steal! And for the first time, I tried the beef tendon stew. Was it always there? The quality of the beef tendon was good, with a nice chewy texture, and for only 200 yen, it's a fantastic deal. The commoner has expanded significantly in the Osaka area. The shock of its opening in Kyobashi is no longer there, but it's great to be able to use it in various locations. I'm happy (^-^) I'm so happy (^-^) The end.
