I went to a new "Okinawan restaurant" that opened at Ekimarche Osaka after finishing work overtime. It's conveniently located next to the station, so you can enjoy until the last order. The restaurant has a commercial facility feel, not much of an Okinawan atmosphere, but that's understandable.
The ordering method at this restaurant is a bit different, where you scan a QR code with your smartphone to place your order. I think this system is good because you don't have to call a waiter every time, and you don't know who ordered when, so you don't mind if the order of dishes changes, which helps reduce unnecessary stress.
The drinks come quickly, and the food itself didn't make me wait too long, which was good. I ordered typical Okinawan dishes this time. First, I ordered "Puchi Puchi Umibudo" and "Fuchampuru" with an Orion beer. The Umibudo had a nice texture and a slightly sweet and sour sauce that went well with the beer. The Fuchampuru, a stir-fry dish with vegetables, spam, and car fu, was juicy and delicious.
Next, I ordered the recommended Rafute and an additional drink, Okinawa Salt Lemon Chuhai. The Rafute was a juicy, flavorful dish that went well with alcohol. Lastly, I ordered the Ryukyu Habu Ball that I was curious about, and the "Island-style chili oil mayo yakisoba" as the final dish. The yakisoba had spam, cabbage, onions, carrots, and chives, with a chewy texture and a mild chili oil and mayo flavor.
Overall, the Okinawan restaurant at Ekimarche is a place I can casually visit, and I look forward to trying out any limited-time menus in the future.
