I thought it was all about the aesthetics, but the quality of the food at this restaurant, "Yakitori Boy Shumai Girl," located in a back alley similar to the Tenjin Shotengai, was incredibly high. The dishes I tried included:
- Five-color Sentai Shumai Ranger
- Seseri (chicken neck)
- Kokoro (chicken heart)
- Omi duck roast
- Gout Korean seaweed
- Spicy egg
- Seafood spring rolls (off-menu item)
- Kyoto duck somen noodles
As the name suggests, they offer a variety of dishes such as shumai and yakitori. I started with the "Five-color Sentai Shumai Ranger," which is a set of five different shumai varieties - basil green, squid ink black, spice yellow, and numbing red. Each one was delicious and visually appealing, especially the squid ink black shumai with squid legs sticking out.
In addition to the shumai, they also serve charcoal-grilled yakitori, which is easy to share even for one person. The duck roast was absolutely delicious, and the visual presentation was outstanding.
I also tried a few off-menu items by adding the restaurant on LINE, and the seafood spring rolls were crispy and incredibly tasty. Lastly, I had the rare duck somen noodles, which were delightful.
The drinks menu was playful as well, with options like Kahlua milk served in a milk bottle. The prices were reasonable, and I was able to enjoy luxurious items like the "Gout Korean seaweed" with uni and caviar for only 750 yen. The service was excellent, and I discovered a new favorite restaurant in Otemonjin.
I also have an Instagram account where I share delicious gourmet experiences, so feel free to follow me for more recommendations: http://instagram.com/osakagourmet.ryox/

I made a reservation and went on Friday night. We were seated on the third floor, but the restaurant was narrow and the voices of the neighboring group of salarymen were loud, echoing throughout the room as there were no windows. This made it difficult as everyone at each table had to speak louder. The food was delicious and satisfying. I especially enjoyed the grilled chicken rice bowl, so I would love to come back and have it again if I have the chance.

It was simply delicious! The yakitori was especially tasty, so if I go again, I'll order the yakitori! It was nice that the skewers were already removed from the stick. There were various unique dishes to enjoy, and the variety of drinks was interesting. It was innovative, but the taste was not overwhelmingly amazing. I was satisfied with what I got for the price.

Yakitori Boy and Shumai Girl/Umeda: "A casual pub where you can enjoy a variety of yakitori and shumai." ✔︎ Chicken mix ¥500 ✔︎ Duck mix ¥980 ✔︎ Steamed shumai ¥380 ✔︎ Shiso and dried baby sardine shumai ¥580 ✔︎ Shrimp shumai ¥780 ✎ ⚪︎ Located in a backstreet near Ohatsu Tenjin, this pub was almost full when I visited around 8 p.m. on a weekday, showing its popularity. ⚪︎ The majority of customers seemed to be in their 20s and 30s. ⚪︎ The building has three floors with counter seats on the first floor and table seats on the second and third floors. ⚪︎ Orders are placed using an iPad, with a hidden menu available when scanning the QR code. ⚪︎ Definitely recommend trying the yakitori and shumai. ⚪︎ All dishes were surprisingly delicious and satisfying for the price. ⚪︎ Great for daytime drinking, parties, gatherings, or girls' night out. If you're looking for a cheap and tasty restaurant, be sure to check this place out! Thank you for the meal!

Located in Omi Tenjin, this izakaya specializes in shumai and yakitori. The shumai menu is extensive, offering both classic and creative options. The shumai was delicious, living up to its reputation. We also ordered a yakitori assortment, which paired well with the red yuzu pepper. They have hidden menu items as well, so be sure to ask about those too! They open at 12 pm, making it a great option for lunch as well.

I made a reservation through the app at this restaurant, but after making the reservation, I was told that they couldn't accommodate me for 2 hours because other customers were coming later, so I had to settle for 1.5 hours. However, it was the restaurant's mistake to shorten the time, and I was not informed during the reservation that there was a "last order 30 minutes before closing" rule, so in the end, I had to rush to order within 60 minutes. If I had known about the last order rule, I wouldn't have made a reservation. The food was served on skewers, and they explained that dishes like raw minced chicken should be avoided by those with sensitive stomachs, especially in this heat. The chicken was delicious, but I was careful not to order too much due to the time constraint. I wish they would manage reservations and provide clear explanations, especially since I went out of my way to make a reservation and visit the restaurant. Overall, it was a frustrating experience.

It's been a while since we gathered! 10 minutes walk from Umeda Station ✨✨ We ordered a variety of dishes, but here are the highlights! The grilled negima was cooked right in front of us, you can tell it's delicious just by looking at it! (@ ̄ρ ̄@) The grilled liver also goes great with beer and disappears quickly. However, the customer service from the staff was disappointing. It seems like there are a lot of restaurants with poor staff quality in Umeda, haha.

It was disappointing that the freshly made tsukune I was looking forward to was not available during the holiday weekend. I realized the importance of having the meat skewered for that authentic yakitori experience. The shumai was delicious, the service was friendly, and overall it was a fun restaurant experience.

Hidden in the narrow alley south of Ura-Sando, Umeda, is "Yakitori Boy Shumai Girl Umeda Store," a cozy izakaya known for its grilled chicken skewers and shumai dumplings. The atmosphere is youthful, with mostly customers in their 20s. We started with beers like Braumeister and Sapporo Red Star, along with unique cocktails like Shandy Gaff and Red Eye. The food we ordered included a refreshing ham salad, tender chicken thigh sashimi, a variety of chicken skewers, and flavorful shumai dumplings like Spicy Yellow Shumai and Shiso Leaf & Baby Sardine Shumai. The Sukiyaki Shumai, topped with egg yolk, was a standout dish. Overall, it's a casual and fun place for young people to enjoy, but older folks like me can also have a good time here. ❤️

On Sundays at 4:00 PM, the first floor has a counter and the second and third floors have table seats. The fact that they serve KIRIN Brau Meister draft beer really gets you excited! The grilled eggplant with spicy minced meat on top is incredibly delicious! The signature grilled shumai is seasoned perfectly, but you can also add vinegar and soy sauce to your liking. Although I didn't use it this time, it was already delicious as it is! The charcoal-grilled chicken neck is so tasty that you can eat it endlessly. I used AWAPASS for this visit and the staff provided polite and welcoming service. I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

【Point】✔️Special benefits for reservations via DM✔️Monthly changing hidden menu for LINE friends...?
【Ordered Menu】
- Potato Salad ¥550
A potato salad with mustard seeds, topped with a mountain of cheese, both in taste and appearance, it's top-notch.
- Five Color Sentai Shumai Rangers ¥750
For those who are tired of regular shumai, this set offers unique flavors like curry and basil. They even have a special menu called "Four Gods Combination" for a more luxurious experience.
- Meat-packed TKG ¥1380
A meat-based rice bowl with raw "raw tsukune" meat on top. You pour sauce from a container shaped like No-Face and eat it, more like a yukke-don than a regular egg rice bowl.

Located just 10 seconds from the drinking street in Sonezaki, there's a yakitori restaurant called Yakitori Boy Shumai Girl. I found out later that they offer a luxurious Instagram DM reservation benefit. One of the menu items I hesitated to order this time, the three types of raw tsukune, would cost over 1000 yen if ordered separately, but getting them for free is quite a treat. What's even more interesting is the existence of a hidden menu. By adding them as a friend on LINE, you can see this month's hidden menu, which is not on the touch panel and must be ordered verbally. The hidden menu this time included luxurious sushi and delicious endings. However, this time I decided to stick with the regular menu.
For appetizers, I ordered the Spicy Egg and Potato Salad. The cheese-covered potato salad is a cheese lover's dream. The Spicy Egg, with plenty of seasoned minced meat on a half-cooked egg, pairs well with the potato salad. The menu with a mountain of cheese also includes shumai, grilled rice balls, and more, so it's a must-try.
The variety of menu options ranges from regular to unique items, including the raw tsukune meat that can be eaten raw. The raw tsukune meat, which is also topped on the meat TKG I ordered this time, allows you to eat rice in a yukke-don style rather than just an egg rice bowl. The signature shumai at the restaurant is a must-try, with various flavors to choose from.
Overall, the menu offers a wide range of options, from regular to unique items, providing a fun and delicious dining experience.

Sonezaki Ohatsu Tenjin is a creative dumpling and charcoal-grilled chicken pub located in a back alley just off the main street. The retro-pop font of the store name is eye-catching. The three-story interior has a spacious and relaxed atmosphere with a counter and tables. The Arabian lampshades and colored glass windows stand out in the grayish space. Catchy items like anime figures and capsule toys attract attention. The comical named dumplings, the main attraction here, are all homemade. From the classic steamed dumplings to unique grilled options, there is a wide variety to choose from! They source the freshest meat of the season for not only the grilled chicken but also for dishes like "tataki" and "raw tsukune." The stylishly served raw tsukune with a metallic amuse spoon is a luxurious combination of ingredients. The five-color steamed dumplings "Five-color Sentai Shumai Jya" and the luxurious four kinds of steamed dumplings "God Shumai" made with foie gras are highlights. The shrimp in the "Hell Steamed Dumplings" is juicy and spicy, perfect for spice lovers. The dumplings are just the right size to try a variety of flavors. The "Tsuuwindon" served in a leopard-print bowl is a photogenic rice bowl with a rich combination of uni, beef toro, and egg yolk. The dragon fruit sherbet with vivid pink color leaves a refreshing aftertaste. The drink menu is also unique, with the milk bottle cocktail featuring chocolate straws for a fun twist. They also offer a strong energy drink for late-night wanderings. The casual and flexible atmosphere is perfect for hanging out with friends or a casual date at this recommended pub near Ohatsu Tenjin.

On this day, I had a girls' night out with 4 local best friends in Osaka! It was also a farewell party for a friend who was moving to the United States. We placed our orders using the terminal at the table ⭐︎ Cheers with a Red Eye cocktail and enjoyed the charcoal-grilled skewers ♩ The dessert plate with a surprise message ✍️ was reserved by one of the friends who came with us. Thank you to the restaurant for that. They also offer a great all-you-can-drink plan ♡ In the end, we planned to catch the last train to Sannomiya, but ended up drinking until morning in Shinchi with friends who can hold their liquor... Got drunk! Had a great time! Thank you. Smoking allowed

High impact! Yakitori Boy and Shumai Girl offers a wide variety of delicious grilled chicken skewers cooked over charcoal. Don't miss out on their special offer of a free bottle of Chamisul when you visit! Tonight's dinner was at "Yakitori Boy Shumai Girl" located in the Oohatsu Tenjin shopping street near Higashi Umeda Station. As the name suggests, it is a restaurant specializing in yakitori and shumai.
- Yakitori with plenty of soft cartilage
- Duck mix with various cuts of duck, no gamey taste and good texture
- Mentaiko cream shumai, a delicious combination
- Hell shumai with spicy oil and chili on top
- Oke Tsu Marudashi Ebi Shumai, with plump shrimp
The shumai had a strong flavor and a good texture, making it delicious. The drink menu is extensive, and they even offer a free Chamisul toast. I left feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

Visited in July 2022 ◎ At the time of posting, the restaurant had a rating of 3.16 on Tabelog (16 reviews). The place I went for drinks today is located just a short distance from Higashi Umeda, a little east of Sozenzaki Ohatsu Tenjin Street. It's called "Yakitori Boy Shumai Girl"♪ They have terrace seating outside where you can order tower beers, highballs, and chu-hi drinks in sizes up to 4 liters, limited to the terrace seating. We were guided to the table seats on the 2nd floor through the counter seats on the 1st floor. There seems to be a 3rd floor as well, accessible by a spiral staircase. I didn't notice it when ordering, but they offer a free "Kampai Chamisul" for the number of people, which is a great service. The ordering system is done through a tablet. Here is what I had today:
- Kirin Brau Maismar 520 yen
- Sapporo Red Star 700 yen
- Appetizer 350 yen
- Potato Salad 450 yen
- Five-color Sentai Shumainja 700 yen
- Mentaiko Cream Shumai (steamed) 680 yen
- Grilled Mushroom 680 yen
- Unlimited Green Peppers 380 yen
- Spicy Egg 250 yen
- Ma La Niu Rou Doufu (spicy beef tofu) 320 yen
- Chicken Liver Sashimi 550 yen
- Gout Donburi 1,580 yen
- Layered Ham Cutlet 480 yen
- Chicken Thigh 480 yen x4
- French Fries 420 yen
Started with a toast with draft beer. As the name suggests, we had to order yakitori and shumai, right? The yakitori selection wasn't as extensive as I thought, but the chicken thigh meat had a nice texture and was quite good. The "Five-color Sentai Shumainja" that looks great in photos was also good, but my favorite was the "Mentaiko Cream Shumai (steamed)". A standout dish was the "Potato Salad" with cheese covering it so much that you couldn't see the potato salad itself. The cheese and whole grain mustard were a nice touch. The "Gout Donburi" with ikura, uni, and wagyu beef was luxurious and a must-try for seafood lovers. The "Chicken Liver Sashimi" was fresh and the sesame oil added a nice flavor, perfect with beer. Other izakaya dishes were also delicious, and it's no wonder the place was bustling with mostly young customers. Thank you for the meal.

The variety of unique shumai like Truffle Shumai and Sukiyaki Shumai was enjoyable (*≧∀≦*). The colorful dishes make you want to take pictures. The yakitori is served on a plate, making it easy to share. The meat is juicy and tender! Personally, I loved the cheese-filled grilled onigiri. The combination of rich cheese and mild egg yolk was delicious \(//∇//)\. This is a restaurant that you can visit for both the first and second time.

Is the world experiencing a shumai boom? Recently, shumai, which has long been overshadowed by gyoza, is becoming more popular. Shumai-focused restaurants are popping up one after another, such as a place near Osaka Umeda Station, a 6-minute walk from Ohatsu Tenjin, opening from 12 pm and offering daytime drinking. The restaurant is mainly focused on yakitori and shumai. Here are some of the dishes and drinks I tried:
- Chicken thigh tataki (600 yen): I love chicken thigh tataki with its crispy skin and tender meat.
- Chicken mix (600 yen): A mix of various chicken parts with a simple salt seasoning.
- Drooling chicken (650 yen)
- Raw tsukune (around 250 yen): A rare dish with a raw center, enjoyed with a salty taste like ikura or caviar.
- Five-color shumai rangers (650 yen): A variety of shumai flavors including cheese, curry, basil, squid ink, and chili. I ended up with the spicy chili one after playing rock-paper-scissors with my friend.
- Famous steamed shumai (380 yen): Hot and freshly steamed, simple yet delicious.
- For drinks, I tried a Jack Daniel's highball, which came in a cool square glass.
Will shumai be the next big thing after gyoza, beer, and takoyaki highballs?

Charcoal-grilled domestic chicken yakitori and various types of shumai are delicious at this restaurant! First, the freshly steamed shumai: - Ebi Shumai with exposed shrimp tail for 780 yen - Oba Shirasu Shumai for 580 yen - Uni Shumai for 780 yen. All the hot shumai in the steamer were delicious, especially the shrimp shumai. Next, the yakitori: - Seseri for 450 yen - Momo for 450 yen - Sunazuri for 450 yen - Maru Kokoro for 450 yen. The aroma from grilling over charcoal is great. Since they are not skewered, they are easy to share. The seseri was so delicious that I had seconds! Other recommended dishes include: - Tsunagi Don for 1,480 yen, a bowl with sea urchin, salmon roe, and meat on top. - Sweet Potato Honey Gorgonzola Butter for 580 yen, a delicious combination of sweet potato, honey, and butter. - Chicken Momo Tataki for 600 yen - Duck Roast Tataki for 980 yen - Duck Mix for 980 yen.
