Lunch plans were slightly disrupted, but my partner and I headed to a udon restaurant. Unfortunately, it was closed. What to do now? We walked around discussing our options and stumbled upon "Nanjamonja no Ki Ekimae-ten," a place where you can enjoy monjayaki and okonomiyaki. We climbed up the narrow stairs to the third floor and found the restaurant bustling with customers. The best part was that the lunch set came with alcohol. Having a beer in the middle of the day is always great. The monjayaki was delicious even for someone like me who doesn't like cheese. The sauce and the batter were both tasty. However, my friend, who is from Tokyo, was not impressed with the presentation and even sent a "no" on LINE. Apparently, the "DOTE" is important. The okonomiyaki had a tangy sauce that was quite flavorful. My partner was thoroughly enjoying the meal. Overall, it was a delicious experience. The cozy atmosphere and good service made the dining experience even better. I look forward to trying a different branch next time.

I went to a different okonomiyaki restaurant because my usual one was closed. They had an amazing lunch menu which included a fantastic okonomiyaki with rice, and you could choose from different types of rice. The meal also came with a drink, and you could choose from coffee, oolong tea, or even a glass of beer (although I opted for iced coffee). I also tried the grilled chicken and intestines, which came with a delicious sauce. The okonomiyaki had a good amount of vegetables and was fluffy when cooked. The sauce was not too sweet, and they even provided individual packets of mayonnaise. The egg rice that came with the meal made me very full. The cost performance was great, the taste was good, and they even served dessert at the end. The staff were attentive and quick, and they were diligent with COVID-19 prevention measures. Unfortunately, there were some customers at a nearby table not wearing masks while drinking alcohol. On a different note, I also tried monjayaki today. I've only had monjayaki about five times in my life, but the staff cooked it perfectly and it was delicious. The staff were very considerate and attentive.

I visited the restaurant alone for lunch. I was seated at a teppan grill table for four people. I chose the "Okonomiyaki Lunch" (768 yen) from the lunch menu available from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The set included okonomiyaki, rice, a drink, and dessert. The options for okonomiyaki were pork, squid, shrimp, beef, cheese, corn, rice cake, green onion, and natto. Additional toppings were available for an extra charge (110 yen, 154 yen, or 198 yen) with 37 choices to add. The rice options that day included pickled vegetable rice, spicy cod roe rice, white rice, among others. The drink choices were draft beer, oolong tea, hot coffee, and iced coffee. The dessert was chocolate sauce over ice cream that day. I chose the "green onion" okonomiyaki. I cooked it myself. A bowl with the ingredients was brought out, and I mixed them together. I could see the slightly loose batter, plenty of thickly sliced cabbage, green onions, tempura scraps, eggs, and more. I dropped it onto the grill, shaped it into a disc, and cooked each side for 4 minutes as directed by the efficient staff. Finally, I flipped it over and the staff turned off the grill. The okonomiyaki stayed hot until the end. Once cooked, I added sauce, bonito flakes, and seaweed to finish it off. Other condiments like sesame seeds, chili pepper, and mayonnaise were available at the table. The okonomiyaki was hot and crispy, with a delightful aroma of cooked eggs. It was fluffy yet crunchy, with the sweetness of cabbage, richness of tempura scraps, and umami of bonito flakes. The cooked green onions added a thick, sweet, and refreshing fragrance. The crispy bottom added a nice texture. Even without pork, the "green onion" okonomiyaki with less sauce was surprisingly refreshing, allowing the basic ingredients to shine through. Sprinkling sesame seeds added a vibrant aroma, enhancing the dish. The chili pepper provided a nice touch of heat. I was impressed by the set menu, portion size, efficient operation, friendly staff, spacious seating, and most importantly, the delicious flavors of the dish, all offered at a reasonable price.

While passing through Kokura Station in Fukuoka Prefecture, I wanted to have a drink and couldn't forget the delicious okonomiyaki I had a few years ago, so I decided to revisit this restaurant. As soon as I tried to enter the store, I had to climb a suspicious narrow staircase up to the 3rd floor haha. Once inside the cozy restaurant, I immediately ordered the pork okonomiyaki (from what I remember) and a beer. After a while, the beer and okonomiyaki ingredients arrived, and the waitress asked if she could cook the okonomiyaki for me. Since there were empty seats and the service was good, I let her cook it for me. The okonomiyaki she cooked was perfectly done with a delicious char and just the right amount of sauce flavor, making the beer go down smoothly haha. I later found out that the young female waitress who skillfully cooked the okonomiyaki and explained it while cooking was actually in her early 20s, which was surprising. She had great technique, friendliness, and customer service skills, making her the ace of the restaurant according to the manager. What a talent! I will definitely come back here again next time.

We tried okonomiyaki for the first time at a restaurant we often hear about. It was very affordable, so we shared two pieces between the two of us. We also ordered additional beef belly kalbi and chicken seseri, which were all very delicious.

There are three okonomiyaki and monjayaki restaurants in the Gintengai area of Ogura. Personally, I recommend going for lunch on weekdays. They also have all-you-can-eat options for dinner and weekends. The lunch menu includes okonomiyaki, monjayaki, yakisoba, mixed specials, and steak. All lunch sets come with a drink, rice, and dessert. I ordered the monjayaki lunch set (690 yen) this time, choosing the kimchi monjayaki. I was happy to see that I could choose beer for my drink and pick pickled vegetable rice. They brought the beer right away, followed by the kimchi monjayaki. You can cook it yourself while enjoying your drink, or ask the staff to cook it for you if you're not confident. They brought the pickled vegetable rice just as the monjayaki was ready. The kimchi monjayaki was surprisingly good, with the cabbage and kimchi blending well. It wasn't too spicy and very easy to eat. The pickled vegetable rice was delicious, with sesame seeds on top. It was simple but tasty, not too spicy. The rice was firm and perfect. Finally, dessert was served - vanilla ice cream with chocolate. They timed it perfectly. I was very satisfied with the taste and the value of the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The last time I visited was quite a while ago... about 2 years ago, so I'm not sure if the lunch menu I used to enjoy is still available, but during lunch, you could get a drink, rice (white rice, pickled vegetable rice, or kimchi rice), your choice of okonomiyaki, and dessert for less than 700 yen I believe. The value for lunchtime is really great! The okonomiyaki itself had many options to choose from, and toppings like sauce, sesame seeds, seaweed, and bonito flakes were provided at each table, so you could customize your dish. The restaurant is fun in many ways. If you want a filling lunch, I recommend giving it a try. There could be a wait sometimes, as it's popular among young groups and couples. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but they used to give a point card for each person in your party at the time of payment. If you collect 10 cards, you could get a reward like two medium draft beers or a special mixed okonomiyaki dish. I really like this place and I hope to visit again when I go back home this month. Overall, the value for lunch is great, but the score is not perfect for dinner as the dishes are priced individually.

I went back to the restaurant with a friend after about 10 years since leaving Okayama Prefecture! They offer nostalgic old-fashioned flavors and a variety of original monjayaki dishes that are unique to this restaurant ❤ On that day, I ordered the cheese monjayaki, while my friend ordered the original Hawaiian-style Loco Moco monjayaki. We were both curious about what the Hawaiian-style Loco Moco monjayaki would be like! When it arrived, we saw a beautifully cooked large hamburger, special sauce, and the monjayaki batter. My friend was surprised by the size of the hamburger and cut it into easy-to-eat pieces to share. The cheese monjayaki was also delicious with its melty cheese ❤ Next time, I want to try the original dish too!

During shopping with my daughter, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the monjayaki in Kokura, but the monjayaki here was delicious! The interior of the restaurant was simple, clean, and surprisingly stylish. This place could definitely be used for a date. It was a Sunday lunchtime, so the restaurant was packed. Luckily, we were able to find seats for just the two of us. The customers ranged from high school students to elderly people. We were torn between okonomiyaki and monjayaki, but my daughter and I decided to share a large monjayaki by choosing the cost-effective Mix A and B options (each 980 yen). The menu was so extensive that it was quite overwhelming. But we decided to go with the classic mix option first. Cooking the monjayaki was surprisingly fun and easy! Watching it cook with bubbles forming and getting crispy was entertaining. It made me crave a beer, but unfortunately, I was driving so I had to pass. Next time, I'll come when I can have a drink. You can choose your own toppings like sauce, sesame, seaweed, and chili pepper. Personally, I recommend adding the sauce not after it's done cooking, but when the monjayaki starts to solidify. Oh, and they give out one service ticket per person per meal. If you collect 10 tickets, you can exchange them for things like two draft beers or a free lunch. Very generous! Thank you for the delicious meal.

I have been going to this Monja-yaki restaurant since high school! The prices are very affordable! The lunch set includes a drink, your favorite Monja, and dessert, so you get a lot for your money! There are so many different types of Monja to choose from, each with its own unique flavor. It's much more cost-effective to order your favorite Monja as part of the lunch set rather than individually! I always ordered the mentaiko, natto, and hamburger Monja! I also chose the takana rice as my side dish! The staff are friendly and helpful, and they even assist you in cooking! They also have a stamp card, so I was able to collect stamps by going there for lunch regularly! Despite being reasonably priced, the food is delicious, so I highly recommend it!

When asked about my favorite dish, my first answer is "monja-yaki" - this is true! However, there aren't many places in Kitakyushu where you can eat authentic monja-yaki. I was drawn by the name when I was a student and have been going there quite often since. I still go there with my girlfriend who also loves monja-yaki. It's located very close to Kokura Station and it's very affordable! Even people who come from far away can enjoy delicious food here. There are various menu options and toppings, so try different combinations by visiting multiple times. Now I'm also hooked on making monja-yaki at home (laughs).

When you go to Kokura, the first thing you should do is eat the monjayaki here. I am quite particular about monjayaki, having frequented the monjayaki in Tsukishima, Tokyo, but I can eat the monjayaki here with peace of mind. - The taste and portion size are quite generous. Compared to Tsukishima, the serving size here may be slightly smaller, but the prices are set low, so there's nothing to complain about. There are many creative monjayaki options, and they are all delicious. You can tell that they put thought into each dish. - Service: The part-time staff members are friendly and pleasant. The manager (or owner?) is always present in the dining area, so you feel at ease. However, some of the table grills in the box seats may go out on their own. I usually just turn the switch back on myself. The grills have some wear and tear, but they are polished well and clean. - Atmosphere: The atmosphere is just right, not too quiet or too noisy. It's perfect for enjoying monjayaki slowly with friends over beer. - Value for Money: As mentioned above, the value for money is excellent. - Bonus: The okonomiyaki here is also delicious. You cook it yourself, but if you cook it properly, it turns out quite fluffy. Make sure to cook it with a bit of thickness, not flat like a pancake. And never press it down with a spatula. If you follow these tips, you can enjoy a very tasty okonomiyaki in Kokura.

When it comes to monjayaki in Kokura, this is the place to go!! I've been coming here since my student days. The location is easy to miss but there's always a flag out when they're open, so you'll be fine. You have to climb up a narrow staircase at the corner of a bakery to find it. The restaurant has an old-fashioned feel like a casual diner. It didn't bother me when I was a student, but as an adult, it's a bit noticeable. I wish they would renovate it if possible (laughs). The menu is what makes it unique. There are so many options. It's like anything goes. But what's fun is that you can choose from a variety of toppings (for an extra charge) to create your own original dish. I like to add potato chips and cheese, and sprinkle on plenty of shichimi spice. Delicious!! The staff may seem a bit indifferent, but well, that's not really a big deal at this place... (laughs)

This is a review of the branch (in front of the station), not the Uomachi store. *Location* Facing Kokura Station, go down the road next to Lotteria and McDonald's, and you will find the entrance to the stairs on the left at the corner. Right across from Yoshinoya, next to the bakery, beside the green "Nanjamonja" tree. *Interior* Until you reach the 3rd floor, there are no tenants on the 2nd floor, which may make you think you're in the wrong place for a moment. To be honest, the interior is a bit dirty. If you don't like smoky places, it might not be for you. On the bright side, it has a unique charm of a place with flour dishes. The Uomachi store (main store) seems to be spacious and clean with a modern style. *Monja* There are a huge variety of options, from regular to exotic. 60 types in total. Enjoy creative dishes like curry, mapo tofu, and many others. Among them, there was something called "Potato Chips" ... haha, truly a B-class gourmet on a hot plate. Surprisingly, it was delicious. Recommended for those who like to try new things. They will also teach you how to cook it and can do it for you upon request. Maybe due to eating with a small spatula, you surprisingly get full quickly. The slightly burnt taste after some time is also nice. However, as it cools down, it becomes a bit difficult to eat with the spatula. Since I have friends who don't like smoky places, I would like to try the main store next time. *Visit this affordable and diverse monja restaurant with a casual atmosphere! ... 3 points* *Personal Rating* Male: Female 6:4? Age group 20-30s (at that time) Young Variety Many Quantity Many
