It's been almost two years since my last visit, coinciding with the time I started writing on Tabelog, but despite visiting six times, this is only my second review. When I tried CoCo Ichibanya's "Black Curry," I couldn't help but think of Okanokari-san. Both are priced over 1000 yen, but Okanokari-san offers a higher level of quality. I've been wanting to go back there for a while now. Finally, I made the trip with my wife and daughter. We arrived 15 minutes before opening and found a few customers waiting. We ordered various curry dishes, and despite the price being a bit higher than before, the quality was definitely worth it. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our food, but we enjoyed the time chatting and taking photos. The curry was delicious, with a rich and complex flavor that was truly satisfying. The dishes were beautifully presented, and we savored every bite. It was a delightful dining experience.

When I arrived a little after lunchtime, it seemed that the customers who had come for the 11:30 opening had just left, so there were only the master and a female staff member in the restaurant. Unlike my previous visit at night when there was a long line, this time I was surprised to find the place almost empty. I had been prepared to wait in line, but it was a new situation for me. On my previous visit at night, it took about 40 minutes from being seated to my pork cutlet curry being served. However, I had heard about the wait time in advance from a friend, so I was excited and could wait patiently. Today, I ordered the "Spicy minced chicken and sand liver curry, level 2 spiciness" with an additional topping of bitter melon, which was brought to my table in about 15 minutes. The aroma of coriander and cardamom was refreshing, and the sand liver had a nice chewy texture. I really enjoyed the bitter melon, which was crunchy. The curry was just the right level of spiciness for me, so I didn't need to drink a lot of water. As a dessert, I had iced coffee and black honey kinako pudding. The pudding had a gentle flavor, and the iced coffee was refreshing. The combination of spices, texture, and iced coffee made me feel refreshed after the hot and humid weather. The delicious curry that took time and effort to make was a treat. Thank you for the meal.

The lamb keema curry with eggplant, tomato, and gizzard topping for 1850 yen was visually appealing and took about 1 hour to be served due to the crowd. The spiciness levels were explained as 1-2 being medium and 3-5 being spicy, so I chose level 2 and enjoyed a mild sweat-inducing spiciness. The coarse ground lamb had a wild texture, and the heated cherry tomatoes and juicy eggplant added a sweet touch, while the crunchy gizzard provided a nice accent. The dish was delicious, with a good balance of flavors tailored for Japanese taste buds. I would like to try other dishes on the menu and definitely plan on coming back.

This is a popular curry restaurant in Nanakuma. It is located along the road from Nakamura Oike in Beppu to Fukuoka University. Whenever I am nearby for work, I always make sure to stop by. Since the dishes are cooked to order, it may take a bit of time before they are served. I recommend going when you have some extra time. The photo shows Spicy Chicken Curry with an egg on top (with cheese topping). You can choose the level of spiciness from 5 levels, with 3 or higher being spicy. The curry is flavorful with a good amount of spices. The chicken is well-cooked and tender, easily coming off the bone with a spoon. The crispy cheese topping adds a nice touch. Although there is no photo, the black honey kinako pudding is also delicious. This is a favorite restaurant of mine that I sometimes crave. Thank you for the meal.

Be prepared to wait 2-30 minutes after ordering. If it's full, the wait will be even longer. It gets full by 12 o'clock, so if you want to eat quickly, it's better to go to the West in front. The atmosphere is not one where you can ask for more. Even if you do, the staff will just apologize. The black pork cutlet curry is 1600 yen, with cheese as a topping. They said the pork only comes in spicy. The pork is tender and without excess fat. There is a love for pork here. The curry has a fragrant seed aroma after eating. The rice is a bit firm, perfect for curry. They provide a water pitcher so you can drink as much as you want. I think there are few curries where you can enjoy the aroma of spices. If you go, you must be prepared to eat here with a strong determination.

It's a repeat visit. Last time, we had to wait quite a bit, but I wonder if it's less crowded at night? Maybe it's because of the bad weather today? I had the vegetable chicken curry with 3 levels of spiciness and half an egg topping, my daughter had the lamb keema with 5 levels of spiciness and various toppings, and my husband ordered the pork cutlet and European-style curry. Since there's only one chef, the wait time is reasonable and each person is served in order, not all at once. The flavors are still delicious. The spiced curry brings out the taste of the toppings, and there's a hint of acidity and mild spice flavor. The chicken is so tender it falls apart. The pudding and coffee were a nice palate cleanser.

I had the opportunity to go to a recommended restaurant, so I went there. Luckily, there was a seat available right away, so I didn't have to wait. There were various items on the menu and I had a hard time deciding, but I ended up ordering the grilled curry with colorful vegetables. They only had a spicy option. The portion was quite generous even though the bowl was small. It was packed with vegetables and even had a half-cooked fried egg inside. The taste was a bit different from what I had imagined, and I was slightly disappointed, maybe because it was too spicy. Be careful as it was very hot. It took me a while to finish it because it remained hot until the end.

It's raining in the morning. I came to eat spice curry. Lucky to have only one group waiting because of the rain. The food was served in about 5 minutes after ordering. It was great right after the opening. The complex taste of the curry with various spices makes it hard to go back to regular curry. I wonder why I didn't come here before, even though it's close to my home. The deep-fried vegetables are satisfying, especially the yam! The eggplant could have been a bit crispier. The chicken wings were tender and delicious. I devoured it quickly. Highly recommended for curry beginners.

I wanted to try authentic katsu curry, so even though I live in Jonan-ku, I had never been to Okano Curry before. The katsu curry made by a tonkatsu-loving chef was delicious. The katsu was generous in size and paired well with the spicy curry. They also had healthy options on the menu, so I plan to try those next time.

I arrived at the restaurant right at 11:30 am when it opened, only to find a few people already waiting outside. I was dining alone, so I thought the wait wouldn't be too long since it's just curry. However, even after placing my order, an hour passed and my food still hadn't arrived. I tried to pass the time by looking at my phone and chatting, but waiting for over an hour was starting to get frustrating. I looked around and noticed that the people who arrived before me hadn't been served either. My partner was getting impatient and our hunger was becoming unbearable. Finally, my Spicy Lamb Keema arrived, which was delicious, but the long wait overshadowed the taste. I was eventually asked to change seats, which was fine, but the wait was just too long. My partner's food still hadn't arrived. Although the food was tasty, I don't think I'll be returning because I don't want to be kept waiting for so long again. It would be better if they reduced the menu options to serve faster or at least served a salad first.

I went to Okanokari, a famous Indian curry restaurant. I ordered a half-day vegetable and spicy chicken curry with cilantro and menchi-katsu topping (300 yen). The curry was topped with lots of grilled vegetables, which paired well with the curry. Under the vegetables, there was hidden chicken, making it a luxurious curry. The menchi-katsu topping also had plenty of cabbage and was light to eat. My friend ordered the spicy chicken curry with a runny egg topping, which made the curry even more luxurious and recommended. The owner was also very nice, making us feel warm and comfortable. I will definitely go back. Thank you for the delicious meal ♡

I went because the reviews were good. I lined up before the store opened and parked at a nearby parking lot because there was only space for one car. The place was full with people in front of me and my companion, so we waited for a long time. It was very cold while waiting, and some people were saying things like "If it's not delicious, I won't come back again." After an hour, we were finally able to go inside, but even the two people who entered before us had not been served yet! I ordered the vegetable curry, and it finally arrived about 5 minutes after we got inside. So, how did it taste? I had high expectations after waiting so long. But when I tried it, it was delicious! It had a rich soup curry-like flavor, and the vegetables on top were good too. I might be willing to wait in line occasionally to eat this again.

I felt like eating curry, so I visited the famous curry restaurant "Okano Curry" near Fukuoka City Jounan-ku Fukuoka University with a friend for the first time. We arrived at 12:50 on a Monday and luckily found a parking spot for one car in front of the restaurant. We sat at a table and noticed that they had hand sanitizer available and the seating arrangement naturally allowed for social distancing. The restaurant had 3 counter seats and other table seats. There were 4 customers before us, and more came in later. We ordered the Half-day Vegetable and Spicy Chicken Curry (1,100 yen tax included) which arrived in 15 minutes. The curry was colorful and beautiful, raising our expectations. The curry sauce was rich and slightly watery, with plenty of spices. We asked for a spice level of 3 out of 5, but it turned out to be spicier than expected, making us sweat a bit. The topping included deep-fried eggplant, pumpkin, and green peppers with slightly firm potatoes and sweet potatoes. There were two cut tomatoes on top of the rice. The chicken, a single chicken wing, was very tender and well-cooked. The curry was more delicious than we had imagined and something that would be hard to replicate at home. We left feeling satisfied. They also have a Kids Plate (660 yen), so it seems kid-friendly as well. Thank you for the meal. We will definitely visit again to try a different menu next time.

Once you step into this popular restaurant with a Tabelog rating of 3.47 and 59 reviews, you'll want to try the curry if you're a resident of Fukuoka. It was my first visit, and the location is around halfway between Kanayama and Nanakuma on the Nanakuma Line subway in Fukuoka. I aimed to arrive for the opening at 11:30 on a holiday, but I got there at 11:35. There were already 7 customers, including a group of 3 girls and 4 people at the counter. I was the 8th customer. I ordered the default vegetable and chicken curry for 1,000 yen, along with chickpeas for 120 yen and half a boiled egg for 50 yen, totaling 1,170 yen (excluding tax). You can choose the spiciness level from 1 to 5, and I chose level 5. The kitchen was run by the master chef alone, with one female staff member assisting with serving. I placed my order at 11:38 and was informed that it would take some time. I waited for almost 40 minutes, and finally, my meal arrived. It was the first time I had to wait this long for curry after placing an order. The curry included deep-fried pumpkin, eggplant, potatoes, and bell peppers, along with diced tomatoes. The curry had a strong cardamom flavor and was spicy, making me sweat a bit from the heat. The chicken was very tender, cooked with one chicken wing. The vegetables were cut into large pieces, so it's recommended to eat them separately from the rice unless you have a big mouth. Initially, I tried to eat them together, but it was quite challenging. Whether the 40-minute wait was a one-time occurrence or not, it's something to consider if you have to wait that long every time.

Even on regular days, it's always packed! Lately, I've been revisiting the chicken curry here. This popular curry shop uses freshly ground gluten-free spice curry with generous amounts of coriander and cardamom for a refreshing curry. They grind the coriander instead of using powder... I wonder if they add garlic powder too? The spiciness level is on a scale of 5. This time, I chose a slightly spicy base of level 3 chili peppers, which I found to be normal in terms of spiciness. If you like it spicy, go for level 4 or higher. The cloves are simmered until soft, with a strong taste of black pepper and chili. The flavorful chicken curry with chicken wings also has a good amount of spice oil. The rice is Japanese rice, topped with a half-cooked egg, coarse-ground pepper, and diced tomatoes for color. The diced tomatoes are like Montepellier tomatoes. The onions are from JA Nagasaki's Hirado. This chicken curry, which is well-balanced, is sure to be a hit with Japanese people. The Spicy Chicken Curry with a runny egg on top is 950 yen (excluding tax). Even on weekdays, there is no wait from entering the shop, ordering, to leaving, but it will take about an hour. Please visit with some extra time. Master Okano also had a refreshing smile. I finally went to Okanokari, a place I've always wanted to visit. I ordered the cabbage menchi katsu curry with lemon. It took over 30 minutes to arrive, which is the longest I've ever waited for curry. The presentation was very beautiful. The spiciness, aroma of spices, and richness were to my liking, but I would have liked it more if there was a bit more sweetness. It tasted delicious when I squeezed the lemon. It's amazing that the curry roux was made without flour. The menchi katsu had a crunchy texture with cabbage, lotus root, and coarse meat inside. It was not greasy and easy to eat as the meat juice was not too much. It had a satisfying texture. The fact that the ingredients were so chunky and yet the shape was beautifully fried was impressive. I was surprised by various aspects of this curry.

■Overall Review
This curry restaurant is located near Fukuyama University, and it seems like a place where making a reservation would be a good idea since I just managed to get a seat. The curry is delicious, but the dessert set is also quite good.
■Half-Day Vegetable and Spicy Chicken Curry
I was drawn to the half-day vegetables, so I chose this dish. The curry itself was flavorful with a good amount of spices, and the vegetables were excellent. I especially enjoyed the eggplant in it. I'm not a fan of tomatoes, but I was able to eat them in this dish.
■Black Honey Kinako Pudding and Coffee Set
I was indecisive about what to order, so I ended up choosing this set. At 300 yen, it was a great deal for dessert and coffee. The aftertaste was fantastic. Desserts really make a difference in overall satisfaction with a meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On the second day of my business trip to Kyushu, I visited "spice&coffee OKANO CURRY". They usually serve dishes like "Spicy Chicken Curry" or "Spicy Lamb Keema Curry", as well as European-style spice blend curries. I went on a Wednesday, which is their special "Meat Day" where they only serve "Beef Steak Curry". The prices are 1300 yen for 100g, 1650 yen for 150g, and 2000 yen for 200g. The steak meat is soft and juicy from New Zealand, paired with a spicy European-style curry. They even offer to blend in demi-glace sauce for those who prefer a milder spice level. The master of the shop was very friendly and seemed delighted when I mentioned I came from Tokyo. The curry was delicious and you could feel the master's love for spices and respect for the meat. It was a wonderful dining experience at OKANO CURRY! #OKANO CURRY #Beef Steak Curry #Fukuoka Curry Thank you for the meal!

People living in Okanokari Nanakuma unanimously praise the deliciousness of the curry served there. Even people from outside Nanakuma say it's a curry they would go out of their way to eat. Intrigued, I took the subway to go check it out. The interior of the restaurant was stylish, filled with many fashionable students from Fukuoka University. The curry itself had a vibrant color and was packed with the umami of vegetables. The richness of the roux was excellent, and the sweetened vegetables were also very tasty. Once you try it, you won't forget the taste. Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/taro_gourmet/

Spicy lamb keema topped with eggplant and mushrooms. The chunks of lamb keema provided a satisfying texture. The spices were very noticeable and well done. Level 5 spiciness was appropriately hot, making me break a sweat and feeling refreshed. It was very delicious.
