I went to Otaru Canal. It has been over 30 years since my last visit. The place is well-maintained and beautiful. It was lunchtime, so I decided to visit "Takeno Sushi" restaurant. The atmosphere was calm and there were many foreign visitors enjoying their meals. The menu seemed to focus on seafood bowls, but I opted for sushi today. I chose the "Sapporo Nigiri" from the various options. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious each piece of sushi was, and I couldn't stop eating until it was all gone in no time. It was truly a delicious sushi experience after a long time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located about a 10-minute walk from JR Otaru Station, this restaurant faces the famous Sakaimachi Street. Upon entering, I was guided to a vacant table after using alcohol disinfectant at the entrance. I looked through the menu on the table and decided to order the "Seafood Bowl (large)". In just a few minutes, it was brought to me. The bowl was filled with various types of seafood such as salmon, tuna, scallops, sea urchin, shrimp, crab, and tamago. The colorful presentation was visually appealing. The ikura had a subtle saltiness which complemented the rice well. The rice was seasoned with vinegar, providing a perfect balance of acidity. The thick tamago added a satisfying texture to the dish. The "Seafood Bowl (large)" cost 2,310 yen including tax. As of August 2022, there has been a slight increase in the number of foreign tourists seen, bringing back the lively atmosphere to Sakaimachi Street. 😋🍣

When I visited Otaru, the shop I originally planned to visit was closed, so I ended up going to this restaurant. The staff member who served us was very kind, and the sushi was delicious. Even though I had to return to Sapporo that day, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks.

We visited this restaurant for lunch with two people. The interior, with classic clocks on display, had the atmosphere of a cozy café. We ordered the Sapporo and Obihiro lunch sets while chatting with the friendly chef. Both sets were around 3000 yen and if you sit at the counter, you can watch the chef prepare the sushi right in front of you. Both sets had popular and delicious toppings, making it difficult to decide which to eat first. The Ezo-style sushi had large toppings that paired well with the slightly vinegared rice. The herring, in particular, was a must-try as it's rarely found outside of Hokkaido. It had a mild flavor with just the right amount of fat during the winter season, and the thick toppings left us very satisfied. This restaurant is well-known and often featured in travel magazines like "Kotorippu". You can also enjoy conversations with the chef, who showcases various techniques in sushi making.

I visited for lunch. I ordered the Obihiro (fatty salmon, scallop, botan shrimp, ikura, sea urchin) set menu and added fresh herring. The ingredients were all fresh, and the balance between the rice and toppings was perfect, very delicious. The chef was friendly, and we enjoyed chatting about fish and the restaurant (the beautiful glass plates are custom-made). I saw local workers using the restaurant for their lunch break, so it seems to be a place loved by the community. Visiting such places as a tourist is one of the highlights of traveling!

On Friday, during a business trip to Sapporo, I took some time to visit Otaru for sightseeing. I received recommendations for sushi restaurants at the tourist information center and decided to have lunch at this sushi restaurant. I ordered the Three-color Seafood Bowl (salmon, salmon roe, scallop) for 1700 yen, but the bowl was small and the taste was just average. Additionally, it didn't have enough volume to satisfy a man's appetite. I guess I had set my expectations too high for Otaru sushi.

I had a sudden business trip to Otaru, which is my favorite time of the year. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long as it was just a day trip. It was very crowded in Otaru at this time of year, with lots of foreign tourists bustling around. I found this relatively quiet restaurant and tried their recommended seafood bowl. It had a variety of toppings, giving off a touristy vibe. I thought they could have added a bit more sea urchin, especially since it's the best time for it now. Nevertheless, I quietly enjoyed the meal. The price was not impressive, but it was just delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This sushi restaurant in Otaru has a high image among tourists, but it is actually very reasonable and fair. We used this place for a party. The building is from the early Taisho era along the Sakaimachi street in Otaru. The chef and staff provide excellent service. We had a very pleasant time. The warm hospitality was wonderful. The herring and salmon dishes, utilizing Hokkaido's ingredients, were delicious. The nigiri sushi is cheap and tasty. It's surprising to find a place like this in Otaru. It may not have a luxurious feel, but it offers great value for money and exceptional hospitality. Highly satisfied.

You can enjoy seasonal sushi from Hokkaido. On this day, the sea urchin, herring, and shrimp from Mikuni were particularly delicious. The selection of sake is quite impressive, especially for fans of Tatenokawa sake.

The lunch visit was really delicious. The portion size was small, so 12 pieces were a bit insufficient, but adding 8 more pieces and sharing with 4 people was good. It was nice that miso soup was included instead of clear soup.
