A little before 6:00 PM, I finished work at JR Sapporo Station. As usual, when I got off the JR train, I felt a bit like I was returning from a trip. So, I decided to have a solo drink. I ordered the Ume Course (8 skewers for 1,200 yen) and a beer to enjoy lightly before heading home. I headed towards the Asti 45 building basement. I used to visit this place with my younger daughter on Wednesday nights after her music class. She was always intrigued by the salarymen at the restaurant. She still tells me that she wants to go back to that skewer restaurant sometimes. It's nice that it became a good memory for her.
When I arrived near the restaurant, I was relieved to see the lights on. I entered through the curtain and took a seat at the counter where two other customers were already seated. I ordered the Ume Course with 8 skewers and a draft beer. The cabbage appetizer arrived quickly, followed by the draft beer. I stuffed the cabbage into my mouth and took a sip of the ice-cold beer. Ah, delicious! I wondered if I work just to savor this moment. First up was the shrimp and shiso leaf skewer with salt. The staff recommended a way to eat it with a mix of Ume salt and Himalayan rock salt. Crunchy, juicy, and delicious! The beer went down smoothly, making me happy.
Next came the white fish and pork cutlet skewers, perfectly timed. I enjoyed the hot skewers while refreshing my palate with cabbage and washing it down with cold beer. It was a routine of happiness. The highlight, a large shrimp skewer, arrived as the 7th skewer. The crispy legs and whiskers, crunchy head, and juicy meat were a delight with the mixed salt. It was the best! In no time, the 8th skewer, "This will be the last one for the course," was announced. I couldn't resist and ended up changing to the Sakura Course (12 skewers for 1,800 yen) with an additional order of Asahi Super Dry bottled beer.
Towards the end of the Sakura Course, another star appeared - a deep-fried asparagus skewer. It was fresh, sweet, and delicious! Truly amazing! Once again, I couldn't resist and changed to the Service Course (15 skewers for 1,980 yen). I couldn't stop myself. I ended up eating all 15 skewers, enjoying the hot and delicious food. As a bonus for ordering 10 skewers or more, I had a small bite of pickled tea over rice as the finale. At 3,290 yen, it was more than worth it, even exceeding the value of Nitori. I highly recommend the skills of the head chef. As I left, I thanked the head chef, saying, "I thought I would just have a quick bite and leave, but the food was so delicious that I ended up eating it all." The head chef, who had been serious about frying, instantly smiled, and I left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Ah, it was delicious! Thank you so much! I will definitely come back!
