On this day, I had a bit of a rough time at work and felt like having a drink on my way home. I decided to stop by Gyoza-ya after a long time and... Oh my goodness! The restaurant was extremely crowded. The place was about 70% full, with empty tables still cluttered with the previous customers' dishes. People were wandering around near the cashier, and the quiet atmosphere from before was nowhere to be found. I stood near the cashier, but no one greeted me. When a staff member finally appeared, they walked past me without saying a word and headed straight to the freezer next to the entrance. They casually took out frozen gyoza and started packing them in bags. Ah, I see. Today is "Gyoza Day" and takeaway gyoza are on sale! The gyoza from this place somehow tastes better when you take them home and cook them yourself. For a moment, I considered changing my order to takeaway, but I couldn't resist the temptation of the liver and leek stir-fry and ended up waiting. Later, when four people lined up behind me, the staff finally realized the seriousness of the situation and spoke up. I managed to get a seat and ordered the liver and leek stir-fry, gyoza, and a super shochu highball. Wait a minute... considering the circumstances, I decided to play it safe and added a chilled tofu to my order. It turned out to be a great decision! - Super Shochu Highball - Chilled Tofu I added soy sauce and chili oil to the chilled tofu. It gives a slightly spicy Sichuan-style flavor (laughs). The liver and leek stir-fry arrived in about 10 minutes, as expected. The chilled tofu, my safety measure, worked great as a companion to the super shochu highball (laughs). - Liver and Leek Stir-fry Perhaps due to the busy time, the stir-frying was a bit sloppy. There were more burnt parts than usual (laughs). This liver and leek stir-fry contains plenty of liver and is quite voluminous yet reasonably priced. It has become my go-to item when drinking at Gyoza-ya. Finally, after a 5-minute delay, the gyoza arrived. - Gyoza These gyoza have a generous amount of vegetables and are juicy. The slightly thicker and chewy skin compared to other chain restaurants is commendable. Hmm, for some reason, homemade gyoza still taste better! However, the restaurant was bustling that day. The next day, when I passed by again, it was surprisingly quiet. Truly Osaka-style (laughs). The difference in discounts between "when they're available" and "when they're not" is quite significant (laughs). Well, after a quick drink, I think I'll walk a bit more before heading home. Thank you.
