The other day, during a walk in Moji Port, I took a boat back from Karato to Moji Port and then participated in a ship tour of "QUEENBEETLE" around 2 p.m. After looking at a few shops and finding them either full or already closed for lunch, I ended up back at Moji Port Station to search for a place to eat. I decided to go into a shop called "Milk Hall Moji" located in the same area as "Bear Fruits" and "A Sunny Place" that I had visited before. In fact, this place opened in 2019 as a sister shop to "Bear Fruits." It's a cafe-style shop that serves milk and milk-based desserts, but like Bear Fruits, they also serve baked curry. Last month, both my 6th grade daughter and I had the baked curry at Bear Fruits, so my daughter wanted to have it again this time. I chose the other signature menu of the shop, which was hashed rice, as hashed rice is also a specialty of Moji Port. You can add toppings like omelet hashed or cheese hashed, so I went for both and had a cheese omelet hashed. The dish that came out was as shown in the photo. The hashed sauce had cheese in it, and the rice was piled up as shown in the picture, with an egg on top. The hashed sauce itself had a well-cooked adult flavor, but the addition of cheese changed the taste. The acidity from the melting and stretching cheese added an interesting twist to the flavor. The egg on the rice was perfectly fluffy and creamy. The mild flavor of the egg added to the enjoyment of the dish until the end. I will continue to explore the shops in Moji Port that I haven't frequented much before. Moji is my hometown, and Moji Port is a place I've known for a long time, but it's gradually changing and new shops are opening up.

Baked curry. When you try it, it feels more like curry with baked cheese than baked curry. The cheese is savory, but the curry is still curry. If you sprinkle some surprise spice on top, it becomes spicier, but it's still curry. Is this what baked curry is supposed to be like? The cafe in front of Moji Port Station is stylish and has a play area for children, so it's good for families with kids. However, I wish the service staff would pay more attention to their surroundings.

We shared the spaghetti Napolitan and baked curry. We also got a set with pudding and coffee. The baked curry with plenty of melted cheese and the cafe-style spaghetti Napolitan were amazing! The pudding was cute and the coffee was delicious too! The only thing that caught my attention was that the sharing plates were made of plastic and felt like they could tip over easily. It would be better if they were a bit sturdier.

I used it for lunch. The location was great with a view of the sea from the table. I ordered the famous baked curry and retro pudding from Moji Port. The baked curry had a soft-boiled egg in it, and the curry, which was mixed with the egg, was very delicious.

Strolling around Moji Retro, I stopped by Milk Hall after having baked curry. It's conveniently located right near Moji Port Station. I checked out the menu and decided to go for the recommended set of pudding and iced coffee. The pudding had a bitter caramel flavor that was delicious! It paired well with the acidity of the iced coffee. I slowly enjoyed the pudding and passed the time. The atmosphere of the shop was bright and pleasant!

Milk Hall Moji Port: Gateau de Moji (¥693) and Baked Curry (¥1,045) are recommended dishes at this shop. The Gateau de Moji is a rich baked pudding served in a cute container, while the curry features a classic European-style roux with plenty of melted cheese on top, along with vegetables and a soft-boiled egg inside. For those who like a bit of spice, there is a side of "Surprise Spice" for flavor variation.

The location and atmosphere are average, but the baked curry is overpriced at 1045 yen. It's my first time trying baked curry so I can't compare, but I would rather just eat regular curry. The high points are that you can see the ocean and charge your phone.

It's a classic delicious dish. - The mango lassi cup is cute! The cups for other drinks are also cute and stylish. - Mojiko Port Pudding is a popular item. Since it was morning, many people just had the pudding. It's tasty, but at 693 yen... it's a tourist spot price. The cost performance is not great, but the restaurant offers a variety of rice dishes, snacks, and drinks, making it a very convenient place in Mojiko Port!

The pudding was a bit firm and the caramel was slightly bitter, but it was delicious. There were two types of Moji Port craft beer available, with tasting sizes offered for those who want to try both. They also had menu options with onigiri and commercial baby food for young children. It can be difficult to find suitable food for children while out, so having these options is convenient. The restaurant had play areas and baby chairs, making it easy to visit with children.

The other day, after having breakfast in Shimonoseki, I leisurely walked through the Kanmon Tunnel to arrive at Moji Port. I explored around to fully enjoy the retro atmosphere. Since I was in Moji Port, I felt like I should try the baked curry here, so I decided to have lunch at this restaurant. The large windows on both sides of the street and the sea make it very inviting from the outside. The interior has a bright and open atmosphere. I ordered the baked curry and Moji Port beer. The Moji Port beer had a good aroma and taste, with a light and smooth mouthfeel, without any unpleasant bitterness. It had a solid core that didn't lose to the curry, serving as a great chaser. The baked curry was simply very mellow. The spiciness and heat of the spices were not prominent, enhancing the richness of the creamy roux and the savory flavor of the cheese. The taste may be a bit divisive, but personally, I really liked it. Enjoying Moji Port beer and baked curry by the window overlooking Moji Port on a sunny day over 20 degrees. As a straightforward tourist, I had a fun and delicious experience.

After enjoying a baked curry at Bear Fruits, I felt like having something sweet... So I visited the famous shop "Milk Hall" in Moji Port Retro right nearby. The old-fashioned pudding was said to be firm, so I wondered if it would suit my 20s (even though I look like I'm in my 40s), but it was delicious! Rich! Intense! The intense flavor of the egg was directly felt in the wonderful pudding. The atmosphere made me feel like I had really traveled back in time. I could stay there for hours. ☺️

I wanted something sweet, so I searched for a shop in front of the station. My eyes were drawn to the stylish storefront of "Milk Hall Moji Port". The "Moji Port Pudding" on the sign caught my attention. The "Coffee Jelly" also looked delicious. I ordered the "Moji Port Pudding" to go from the staff. The tall "Moji Port Pudding" looks impressive. It may seem a bit weird for an older man to buy pudding to take home, but I didn't mind and made the purchase. I couldn't decide where to eat it, so I decided to enjoy it on the train to Kokura. It was late at night, so the train was empty, allowing me to enjoy the pudding without hesitation. I was captivated by its rich flavor. The intense taste balanced well with the whipped cream topping. It reminded me of the flavors I had at a Showa-era coffee shop. This sweetness helped soothe my tiredness from the journey. Although it was a bit pricey, it was a delicious pudding.

A cute and retro-themed cafe that opened in July 2019 with few reviews on Tabelog. The atmosphere enhances the charm of Mojiko Retro. The caramel pudding with a slightly firm texture and bitter taste is amazing. The glasses are also cute, making it a must-visit spot for those tired from walking around Mojiko Retro. They have children's chairs and a play area, which is great. It felt like a relaxing spot for local moms to gather on weekday afternoons. ☺️

I visited for a slightly late lunch! The restaurant was busy, probably because it was a Saturday. The baked curry had a strong spice flavor, but it was made milder with the egg and cheese, making it delicious. The main target, the Mojiko Retro Pudding, had a firm texture with a slightly bitter caramel that matched well. The lunch was enjoyable not only for the food but also for the view outside from the table. The only thing that could be improved was the customer service from the female staff, as I felt that a more pleasant attitude would make me want to come back even more!

One of the specialties in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture is baked curry. I'm not sure why it became a specialty, but this place is a long-established restaurant. It's made by topping rice with curry roux and cheese and baking it until crispy. The appetizing smell is irresistible. The slightly burnt parts of the crust are also delicious.

Two years ago, Mojiko Port Station underwent renovation. I came here wanting to immerse myself in the melancholic scene of the incandescent lamp color at dusk, but due to the strong wind and for time adjustment purposes, I decided to enter the establishment. The interior, with exposed concrete painted on the ceiling and beams, lacks a retro feel in the walls and furnishings, but the menu is a different story. The popular choices seem to be the "baked curry" or the "Mojiko Port pudding," but I opted for the "Sakura Beer" since I was in a situation where I could drink due to a driver switch for the rental car. I shared the pudding with my friend. This beer is a revival of Japan's oldest Sakura Beer, born in Mojiko Port in Taisho 2. It is easy to drink without much bitterness from hops, but I think it is a more intense type of beer. The pudding arrived in a silver dish. The special pudding is firm with a strong adult caramel flavor with a hint of burnt bitterness. I enjoyed the atmosphere of Mojiko Port and then set off for the next town.

In November 2021, I visited to try the famous baked curry in Moji. The restaurant interior had a beautiful night view facing the port. I shared the creamy curry with my wife and enjoyed it. It looked spicy, but it was at a level that even kids could eat. (*^^*)

Kitakyushu City, Moji Ward, Nishi Kaigan. A "Milk Hall" is a term used to refer to cafes that served dairy products and sweets in the Meiji and Taisho eras. This is the second location of Bear Fruits. It is a great place to relax while overlooking the sea. They offer nostalgic menu items such as Napolitan, curry rice, hashed beef rice, Moji Port pudding, Moji Port Siberia, and cake salé. They also have a children's menu with onigiri plate, curry rice plate, and banana pancakes. They also have the famous Moji Port grilled curry. This time, I ordered the hashed beef rice (990 yen). The hashed beef rice was not the traditional ketchup type but a trendy hashed beef type. It was full of flavor from vegetables, meat, and tomatoes. Delicious. While Moji Port is famous for its grilled curry, hashed beef rice is also popular. This was the 100th restaurant in the curry rice genre. Thank you for the meal.

The Moji Port pudding and iced coffee were served in cute plates and containers, adding to the retro vibe. The pudding was firm but incredibly smooth, with a rich egg flavor.
