On the third day in Fukuoka, dinner was at "Torikawa Mitsumasu". The cabbage with vinegar sauce as the appetizer gives a Fukuoka vibe. The "gurukawa" that has been prepared over several days is lined up on the counter. First, I had five pieces of "gurukawa". It was crispy and delicious. "Gurukawa" is a popular item that everyone orders in sets of five. The pork belly and green onion skewers were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, a Fukuoka classic. The meal ended with a generous portion of chicken wings and quail. It was all very tasty. When asking for the bill, they served a complimentary chicken soup, which was also delicious.

The restaurant is clean and not bad. There was a partition between the tables, which made it a bit inconvenient, but it was not a big issue. The variety of food was abundant and, of course, the specialty dish was very delicious. The pork belly cartilage was particularly outstanding, very tender and delicious. The chicken skewers were also better than any I have had in Fukuoka. Despite eating and drinking quite a lot, the prices were surprisingly affordable.

Mitsumasu, nice to meet you. I went to the second restaurant. Guruguru Torikawa - the outside is crispy and the inside is tender. We ordered various yakitori dishes, and they were all delicious! Even though we ordered a lot, for some reason there are no photos. The atmosphere of the restaurant is not fancy, but it's good for a date, and also easy to drop by as a second restaurant! I love stylish places, but I might feel more relaxed here. ✨

"Fukuoka specialty 'Yakitori' - The Best Food An acquaintance from Tokyo visited Fukuoka and reported that they tried motsunabe! After much contemplation, I decided to visit 'Mitsumasu' for some yakitori. I made a reservation just 30 minutes before arriving on a weekday, and it was a smooth process. I immediately ordered a draft beer! - Chicken skin - Tsukune (chicken meatballs) - Shigi-yaki (grilled chicken thigh) I had to try these! I was excited as I waited. The chicken skin arrived, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a savory soy sauce aroma. It was amazing! Next came the tsukune, which was soft, gentle, and delicious! And then the shigi-yaki, which had a satisfying texture and paired perfectly with wasabi soy sauce. It was so good, and the Fukuoka specialty did not disappoint. I left completely satisfied. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely be back. Mitsumasu Address: 2-4-23 Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, 810-0021 Phone: 092-753-8885 - Eat-in available - Takeout available"

Delicious. I went to eat chicken skin. I called an hour before opening on Saturday evening, and miraculously got a reservation from 5 o'clock. It had been a while since I had Fukuoka chicken skin, but it had a crispy texture and I easily ate about 20 pieces. The tsukune was also delicious and cheap. It's the quality of grilled chicken that would cost 1,000 yen for one skewer in the Roppongi area. Anyway, everything I ate was delicious.

I went to Hakata and really wanted to eat Torikawa! I stopped by as the first stop before motsunabe. There were several Torikawa restaurants nearby, but some were closed or crowded. Luckily, this place had an opening for about 30 minutes before a reservation arrived. The Torikawa sauce was incredibly delicious, and I couldn't resist ordering more tsukune and sasami. I wish there were more Torikawa restaurants in Tokyo too!

I visited Torikawa because I wanted to try it since I came to Fukuoka. It was a bit of a walk from Tenjin, but it was worth it. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The stylish master and the menu with a variety of options. The pork belly and cartilage were incredibly delicious. I understand why the ratings are high! Even though it was a weekday, the restaurant was bustling with customers, creating a lively izakaya atmosphere. Since I hadn't had any alcohol at the first place, I think I would have been able to enjoy a more relaxed meal while conversing if I had sat at the counter separated by acrylic instead of the wall side. All the yakitori dishes were delicious! Eating while watching the master work made everything taste twice as good.

Kurukuru no Tori is a delicious restaurant known for its crispy chicken skin. I first visited in 2018, when it was still relatively new and not yet very popular. However, it has now become quite popular, especially among young people. Last year, I couldn't get a table because it was fully booked when I called on the same day. This time, I made a same-day reservation for the opening time at 5 pm, and we were able to get a table easily. By the time we finished our meal around 7 pm, the restaurant was fully packed. The restaurant is called "Tenjin Branch," but it is quite a walk from both Tenjin Station and Kyogoku Station. With the guidance of a local friend from Fukuoka, we visited from Tenjin Station. The atmosphere was still quiet when we arrived, so we started with a toast with beer. We ordered four pieces of crispy chicken skin per person, which was our main target. The potato salad was also unique and interesting, with two types available, so we chose the one with salted cod roe. The grilled dishes were all quite generous in portion size. We also ordered zucchini and onion as vegetables. Following our friend's recommendation, we tried the Unzen ham skewers, which had a slightly sweet flavor. I learned that Unzen is in Nagasaki, which made sense. We also tried the Namatsukune, which had a hint of shiso and a good texture and flavor. It was also quite filling, and the saltiness paired well with it. Lastly, we had grilled rice balls with butter, which had a nice crispy texture from the butter by the time we started eating. They were a perfect ending to the meal. After filling our stomachs, we asked for the bill and were served white water soup. The texture was less sticky than before, with an increased saltiness, which I personally preferred. We drank about 4-5 beers, highballs, sake, and more each, and before we knew it, over 3 hours had passed since we entered. We enjoyed the crispy chicken skin, and even had seconds. At around 5,000 yen per person, it may seem expensive or reasonable depending on your perspective, but considering the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed, it felt like a fair price. The fact that one piece of crispy chicken skin is only 140 yen is also a great deal. It was a fun night, and I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

In Imazumi's "Torikawa Mitsumasu," you can enjoy Fukuoka's specialty grilled chicken skin, which is chewy and delicious with a soy sauce base. The "gurukawa" refers to chicken skin rolled up like a spiral, which is prepared over several days to make it chewy and remove excess fat. They use the skin of domestically raised young chickens with little fat. In addition to chicken skin, they also offer vegetable rolls, as well as delicious dishes like grilled chicken skewers and pork belly. The restaurant has a counter and sunken kotatsu seating. - Name: Torikawa Mitsumasu Tenjin Branch - Hours: 5:00 PM - 12:00 AM - Phone: 092-753-8885 - Price: Approximately 3,000 yen per person - Closed on Sundays - Private rooms not available - Location: 1F, 2-4-23 Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture For more details, visit: https://lit.link/Ryoki Provided by: Ryoji Yoshida

I was able to eat for 1900 yen. I had only one drink. I ate about 5 pieces of chicken skin and it was incredibly delicious. The chicken skin was not too fatty so I could eat many pieces. Also, the raw tsukune was delicious! I thought it would come out raw, but it was properly cooked so even people with sensitive stomachs can eat it. I went around 6 pm on a weekday and it was not crowded, so I could easily get a seat. The interior of the restaurant is clean and welcoming, making it easy for women to enter as well.

I wanted to try grilled chicken skin of the gurukawa type, so I searched for a nearby restaurant and visited this place. It is located around halfway between Yakuin-Odori Station and Tenjin Station. The restaurant has a stylish izakaya atmosphere. I ordered 8 pieces of chicken skin, 1 piece of chicken heart, and 1 piece of chicken gizzard. The chewy texture of the chicken skin and the perfect taste of the marinade made it hard to stop eating. The rare cuts also had a chewy texture and were full of flavor. I recommend this place when you want to eat chicken skin in the Yakuin-Odori area from Tenjin.

I had never eaten grilled chicken skin before, so I was brought here. The inside feels like a casual izakaya, bustling with people of all ages. It's a lovely atmosphere on a weekend night! I tried the coiled chicken skin for the first time... Exciting! I ordered three to start. The outside was still sizzling hot, and when I bit into it, it was crispy, while the inside was fluffy and chewy. It wasn't sweet at all, but the umami of the chicken skin was direct and satisfying. The sauce had no sweetness, so it didn't make my mouth or stomach heavy. I can see why people order a lot of these at once! The skewered minced chicken was juicy, with meat juices overflowing and a good texture. I prefer the wasabi with a bit more rareness. The beef tendon was tender and interesting, locking in the umami. The chicken soup at the end was a comforting flavor. Thank you for introducing me to grilled chicken skin. I could eat as many as I want!【Torikawa Mitsumasu】

I came to the restaurant because I wanted to eat chicken skin. The counter and tables were full, so I sat in the back room. The cabbage was served as a starter. The chicken skin was crispy and easy to eat, making me want to drink alcohol. The seasoning was a bit strong, so it might be good to order something light like cucumber. They also served chicken soup at the end, which had a gentle flavor and made me feel warm and cozy.

The chicken skin was seasoned with sauce and very crispy and tasty! The liver was also delicious. I enjoyed it at a reasonable price.

This is a yakitori restaurant along Ujinohashi Street that serves crispy chicken skin. I went there with friends for some yakitori and drinks. We arrived right when they opened, so by the time we finished our drinks, it was still early evening. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This was my second visit, with the first visit being in April 2018. When I visited this place last time, it had just opened. I later found out that the owner had trained at a famous restaurant before opening this place. I had thought of visiting again during my next trip to Fukuoka, but soon after that, the pandemic hit. My first visit to Fukuoka after the pandemic was in April 2022. After a live show, I tried to visit without a reservation but it was full. However, I felt happy to see how popular the place had become after overcoming the pandemic. This time, I made a reservation and visited. The restaurant had aged four years, and there was no longer a sense of newness inside. The place was full, giving off the aura of a popular restaurant. We started with a toast with beer in the back tatami room. Since the chicken skin skewers lose their flavor when they cool down, we ordered 15 skewers for each person to be eaten quickly. The cabbage served generously on a plate was a nice touch. When the chicken skin skewers arrived, the outside was still crispy. Biting into it revealed a crispy exterior and a tender interior, creating a delightful contrast in textures. We had to order an additional 3 skewers per person as the 5 were not enough. Although the restaurant is known for its chicken skin, everything we ordered was delicious due to the careful preparation. We also tried chicken neck, raw tsukune, and more. The texture of the raw tsukune was fluffy and irresistible. We also had liver and green onion, and were once again impressed by the high quality of the food here. After finishing the skewers, we wanted to try the chicken broth noodles, but they were already sold out. It was a bit disappointing, but we ended with a simple rice ball to satisfy our carb cravings. Lastly, a chicken soup was served, which was amazing! I remember being surprised by the clear yet rich flavor of this soup during my previous visit. I can only imagine how delicious the noodles with this soup would be... I immediately decided to visit again. After enjoying all this food and drinks, the bill came out to be around 4000 yen per person. Compared to slightly fancy izakayas in Tokyo, the high quality at such a reasonable price made me appreciate regional cuisine even more. I will definitely visit again on my next trip to Fukuoka. Thank you for the meal.

Torikawa Mitsumasu Nearest station: Tenjin, Yakuin-Odori Yakitori in Fukuoka is different from Tokyo, with the skin being rolled up in a unique way. I couldn't resist trying the famous Gurukawa, which has a unique appearance. At first, it's soft but becomes crispy over time, offering a variety of textures. I always order the Torikawa (130 yen) and enjoy it with drinks. Another recommendation is the Buta Bara Nankotsu (180 yen), which is also a must-try in Fukuoka. The yakitori and izakaya in Fukuoka have rich flavors, making it perfect for enjoying with drinks. Visit on a day when you can drink the most during your Fukuoka trip, as the cost performance is good and you can eat a lot. Highly recommended izakaya! Business hours: 17:00-0:00 (L.O. 23:30) Closed on Sundays

At Imai's "Torikawa Mitsumasu" in Fukuoka, you can enjoy the local specialty grilled chicken skin called "gurukawa." This gurukawa is made by rolling chicken skin multiple times over several days to remove the fat and make it chewy. The outside is crispy with a rich soy sauce-based flavor. They use chicken neck skin from domestic young chickens with little fat. Personally, I also found the raw tsukune (chicken meatball) to be delicious. Chicken skin has become a specialty, but people's preferences vary. Do you like gurukawa rolls? The cost is about 3,000 yen per person. Good evening. I am beauty acupuncturist Kozue. The other day, I went to a yakitori restaurant in Tenjin. The restaurant I visited was called Torikawa Mitsumasu. When you enter the restaurant and order a drink, they will ask you about your yakitori order. This time, I ordered the following menu items: - Chicken skin x6 - Seseri (neck meat) - Chicken thigh with green onion - Beef tendon - Avocado cheese roll - Chicken wing tip - Chicken breast - Chicken heart - Cucumber with miso - Chicken skin The chicken skin was crispy on the outside and slightly soft on the inside, with a flavorful taste. The cucumber with miso was refreshing and the miso had a sweet taste. The other yakitori items were also delicious. The neck meat was juicy and flavorful, the chicken heart had a chewy texture, the chicken thigh was tender, the chicken wing tip was crispy and juicy, and the beef tendon had a unique texture. The avocado cheese roll had a delicious combination of warm avocado, pork, and cheese. The chicken breast was chewy but tender, and the chicken skin was crispy and flavorful. The chicken heart was tender and had a strong flavor. The cucumber with miso was refreshing and the miso had a sweet taste. The yakitori was served with a white soup made from chicken broth at the end, which was also delicious. Overall, the food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
