I visited for a dessert after 11:47 in the morning. September 18, 2023, Monday. It's a holiday, so they open at 11:30. I ordered a frozen piña colada and one Columbia cocoa jelly. If you order a drink, you get ¥200 off. I also want to try the frozen framboise, so I'll have to come back before the end of the month. I received a sample of dark chocolate yokan. Thank you!

I visited the dessert shop after lunch at 12:32. Even though it's a cocoa shop, I tried the seasonal limited watermelon frozen soup. It's a fresh watermelon frozen dessert with chocolate that looks like seeds to crunch on. The chocolate is drizzled on the bottom of the watermelon. It's available until August 31st and comes in a cute cup that was inherited from the shop's 25th anniversary. I also had the chocolate yokan with bitter gold and caramel flavor. Payment is accepted with a card for purchases over ¥1,000.

On Sunday around 4pm, I visited a place where there was no wait and only one group of customers. The interior of the restaurant, which only had a counter, was spacious and relaxing for me to spend time alone. In this hot weather, I ordered an ice cocoa, which was made with cocoa ice, ensuring that it stayed delicious until the last sip. The texture was also enjoyable as it was like cocoa sherbet, giving a crunchy sensation.

I used to visit Akaitori in Shinsaibashi, and although the owner remains the same, a young woman now runs the place. I found myself getting lost in old memories while chatting with her. Since my high school days, Akaitori has been a place where I could relax and unwind from the stress of studying for exams. Congratulations on your 50th anniversary.

I had always wanted to visit this shop, so I stopped by since I was nearby. It opened at 1:30 on a weekday, and I happened to arrive right at that time, being the first customer. It seemed to be a popular place as customers kept coming in without a break. I ordered a simple hot chocolate, which was delicious, but I was intrigued by the Baumkuchen from Kobe Carve Kaiser for dessert. I would like to try it as a set next time. The cocoa had a rustic and comforting taste, but since it was cold today, I personally prefer my hot cocoa to be hotter, so I found it slightly lacking in heat. It was the 50th anniversary since the original shop was taken over, and as a commemorative gift, I received cocoa powder to make hot milk cocoa at home. I am grateful for that. The staff at the shop were very friendly, and I felt warm and cozy. I would like to visit again. ★Payment is cash only, but cards are accepted for purchases over 3,000 yen.

I participated in an afternoon tea event. The theme was cocoa, and the courses were beautifully arranged. I was mesmerized by the chef's skills right in front of me. Of course, the taste was exceptional as well. Personally, I loved the dish made with blanc and Yuge Farm cheese.

When eating Sugi Moto's terrine, I felt like having cocoa, so I invited my partner to visit the Osaka Museum of History and the Kura Hori Tour. We chose the history museum as the main event because without a main event, I wouldn't be able to persuade my partner to go out in the heat. After having lunch at a traditional Chinese restaurant, we headed to Akaitori for dessert. After some consideration, we decided to try the Raspberry Ice Cream and Hot Cocoa with Raspberry Ice Cream. The Raspberry Ice Cream was more like a smoothie, with a rich cocoa part, cream, raspberry sauce, and raspberry toppings. The cocoa part was very rich and satisfying when combined with the cream and raspberry sauce. However, eating only raspberry can be tiring, so we also enjoyed the creamy sweetness of the hot cocoa, which comforted our mouths, stomachs, and hearts. It was a moment of bliss that eventually came to an end, but I look forward to experiencing such blissful moments again.

The Cocoa Shop, celebrating its 50th anniversary including its previous location, is a cozy and cute shop with gentle lighting and a small counter. They accept cash as the primary payment method, but credit cards and electronic money are also accepted for purchases over 3,000 yen. When I arrived after 6 pm on a weekday, there were already two customers seated. Since they close at 6:30 pm, I just made it in time to be their last customer.
[Items Ordered]
- Rainier Cherry Parfait: 1,200 yen
- Ice Birdie Cocoa: 660 yen
* Set discount of 200 yen
I learned through social media that they were offering the highest-grade Rainier cherries, which are only available for about two weeks. They do not accept reservations for this special treat. The parfait included chocolate and cherry flavors, with Ruby chocolate ice cream, homemade brownies, and chocolate crunch. The bright red cherry sauce added extra flavor. The large, juicy cherries were very satisfying to eat. The Ruby chocolate ice cream was fruity and paired perfectly with the cherries.
I also bought a Belgian chocolate yokan for takeout, which is waiting for me in the fridge. I can't wait to try it! Next on my list is the Watermelon Frozen Soup, available only until the end of August. I need to hurry back soon! Thank you for the delicious meal.

I read and saved this shop based on a follower's review who lives in Osaka. I had about an hour to spare in Osaka city before my next appointment, so I decided to check it out. I was prepared for the shop to be hard to find, but I quickly spotted it as there was a sign on the main street. I was able to enter right away as it seemed to be a good time with customers coming and going. The shop only had a counter and jazz music playing, creating a nice atmosphere. It was hot outside, so I ordered a Frozen Watermelon Soup to cool down. It had a big visual impact and was delicious! It tasted like frozen watermelon itself, with chocolate chips for the seeds. Inside the cup, there was iced cocoa in a soup-like style. It was a perfect timing to cool down my body, so I also ordered a Hot Birdie Cocoa. I think it's nice to have a warm cocoa as well. They seemed to adjust the sweetness to some extent, but I ordered without specifying. It was delicious! The right amount of sweetness and the deep aroma of cocoa helped soothe my travel fatigue. I learned that the shop has been around for 50 years since its establishment. I received a commemorative candy. I definitely want to visit this shop again. (I ended up making a stamp card with no expiration date)

Today, I wandered around the Karahori shopping street area and got thirsty because of the heat, so I went to Akaitori. Akaitori originally started near Higo Bridge in Edobori. Back then, I was a high school student and was very interested in it as I passed by on my way to cram school. Later, it moved to Shinsaibashi and closed down with the retirement of the previous owner. It was revived in Taniroku under the current owner and has been operating since then. It is a rare cocoa specialty shop in Japan. I tried their Ice Cocoa (Ice Birdy Cocoa) made from the original recipe. The ice doesn't dilute the cocoa, and there's cocoa powder on top of the cream. It's a cocoa-focused drink. I also found a dessert made with Ruby cacao (Ruby Medusa) - an ice cream with Ruby cacao chocolate on top. After being blindfolded for a minute, a beautiful ruby-colored ice cream was served. The flavor of the Ruby cacao was strong and delicious, with bits of Ruby cacao in the ice cream as well.

☆ Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line - Tanimachi Rokuchome Station
I came to this area for personal reasons, so I decided to stop by this shop that I was curious about~♪ This shop used to be located in Shinsaibashi and was known as a hidden gem specializing in cocoa for a long time. The original owner closed the shop, and the current owner took over and opened the shop near the Karahori Shotengai. The entrance is hard to find, located on the first floor of a building with a small sign facing Tanimachi-suji. There is also a small sign in the Karahori Shotengai, so it's easy to overlook. I felt unsure if it was okay to enter as I passed through a place that gave off that atmosphere, and when I entered the building, I found a small shop with only a counter inside. It was around 4 pm on a weekday, and there were no other customers, so I sat at the farthest seat! I was surprised by the variety of cocoa options on the menu. I chose the unusual Cocoa Jelly - Colombian Cocoa Jelly for 500 yen with ice topping for an additional 130 yen. There were two types of ice cream toppings available, and I chose the rich one. They start making it after taking the order. I imagined the cocoa jelly to be like a Bavarian cream, but it was completely different! It had no sweetness, just the mild bitterness of high-quality cocoa, and it was somewhat jelly-like, making it hard to describe (^_^;) I enjoyed adjusting the sweetness with the ice cream and the included wasanbon sugar and syrup while eating. I preferred it on the sweeter side, so I added all of it. I want to try various items, so I would like to visit again! Thank you for the meal~

In the past, there was a cocoa specialty store called Akaitori in the Suoumachi area of Shinsaibashi, which those in their fifties or older (some in their forties too) may be familiar with. It was located near the corner to Amerikamura, and as someone who preferred cocoa over coffee, I visited a few times. However, over time, my visits to Shinsaibashi decreased, and I eventually noticed that the Akaitori sign was gone. It was a rare cocoa specialty store back then (and still is today), and I felt sad that it may not have been accepted by the times. One day, I saw Akaitori on a local Kansai information program. It had moved to Tani 6, although it had become much smaller. I thought I would like to visit if I had the chance, but I soon forgot about it. After having lunch at the former Yamu residence, I walked through the Sorabori shopping street and saw a sign for Akaitori. It was located on the first floor of a mixed-use building, not facing the road, so you wouldn't know about it unless you were told. It had a cozy bar-like atmosphere. Since it was hot, I had an unsweetened ice cocoa. It was rich yet smooth, with a different bitterness from black coffee. When I mentioned to the staff that it was nostalgic, they said, "This is a new creation made based on customer requests after moving here." It was a very delicious cocoa shop. Highly recommended for cocoa lovers and chocolate lovers alike.

I checked out Tabelog to find a place for tea time after having udon noodles. I found a cocoa shop nearby. I didn't realize it was here before. There's a sign on the side of the Karahori shopping street too. As I walked towards it, I came across the entrance of a building. Should I go in? It seems a bit intimidating. I decided to take a chance and ventured in, and found the entrance. It was in the middle of the building. So, I went in. It's been a long time since I had cocoa. It was rich and delicious. The shop was small with only a counter, making it a bit challenging to have a leisurely conversation. I enjoyed the cocoa and then went for a walk to burn off the calories. Thank you for the meal.

I have been going to this place once a week recently because I crave their cocoa. Sometimes there's a line, but it's worth the wait! I always used to wonder if cocoa was a dessert or a drink, so I didn't drink it. I didn't want to consume unnecessary calories, so I'd rather have a rich chocolate cake. However, the cocoa at this place gives me a satisfaction that rivals a cake. Their take-out single-use bags for 100 yen are delicious too.

I came here looking for hot cocoa to celebrate the birthday of Yasuaki Hōto. The shop was founded in Tosabori, moved to Shinsaibashi, closed a few years ago, and then reopened in Karahori to continue the brand. This year marks their 50th anniversary, and I received a candy with the shop's logo on it. The hot cocoa was made with a lot of care, smooth, and delicious. The cheese toast was also made meticulously, with the toast itself being very good and the cheese being of high quality. Hot Birdy Cocoa Cheese Toast = Delicious Smile~!

I usually prefer hot cocoa, but I was intrigued by the homemade cocoa ice and tried the Ice Bar de Cocoa. It was amazing to enjoy the rich cocoa and refreshing cocoa sherbet. During strawberry season, I always end up ordering the seasonal limited edition item. The soft cream with a hint of sweetness and the sweet and sour strawberries were delicious. The homemade Genoise was also tasty, and the balsamic sauce added a nice touch. The pound cakes I took out were great too - the caramel had a gentle sweetness, and the Earl Grey flavor was just right for me. The traditional Japanese sweet was also unique and delicious.

To the Akaitori cocoa specialty store, I wasn't sure where the entrance was at first in the back building in the Karahori shopping street, but on the first floor there was a strawberry shortcake and cocoa soda. I was curious about what it would be like, but the lightly carbonated cocoa was delicious! I didn't expect the ice to be made of cocoa too, so the cocoa didn't dilute at all and I enjoyed it all.

Oh, it's cold... When it's cold, I want to eat something chocolatey... But it's so cold... As I was looking around, I stumbled upon a cocoa specialty store. Cocoa is perfect for cold days (*´꒳`*) I found a small sign, but I wonder if I can't enter from the shopping street side? The entrance seems to be on the Tanimachi-suji side. I went around there and found the shop inside a retro building. It's a small shop with only a counter. The wooden counter and brick walls give it a warm atmosphere. Looking at the menu, I saw the strawberry shortcake plate that was on the outside sign and I really want it♡ Of course, I also want cocoa. I was undecided on what to order, but I decided to go for their original Hot Birdie Cocoa with half the sugar. In the quiet shop, you can hear the voices of girls chatting quietly and the sound of whipping cream. First, the cocoa was placed in front of me across the counter. The cream on the surface and the cocoa are marbled. Looks delicious (*´∀`) I took a sip of the cocoa. Ah~ warm... delicious... (*´꒳`*) The slightly bitter cocoa mass with a hint of sugar, and the cream makes it smooth... I like the bitterness of cocoa, and I don't like it too sweet, so the half sugar was just right for me. The cake also arrived. A shortcake with sponge, cream, and strawberries separated. The cream is kept separate because it is too soft. The sponge... unlike the sponge used in traditional shortcakes, this sponge has slightly less moisture and is elastic. It's similar to American cakes, but I can't remember the name. The cream. This cream is so delicious~ a fluffy milk flavor. I'm not sure if it's sugar-free or has a small amount of sugar, but not having too much sugar in this cream is the right choice to enjoy its flavor. When you put the cream on the sponge and have it with the strawberry, it's already a shortcake♪ The balsamic sauce placed around it is also delicious! The unique acidity of the sauce is fruity. I want this sauce! If you order dessert, you get a 200 yen discount on the cocoa♪ Cocoa is so delicious in cold weather, right? (*´∀`) Thank you for the meal.

I'm happy to find a cocoa specialty store! The shop has a chic counter and I recommend trying the cocoa with peanut butter. It's a small toast with peanut butter on top that you can dip into the cocoa. The rich cocoa flavor is comforting. Even though it was a bit warm in October, I can't help but crave cocoa as the weather gets colder. I'll definitely go back to warm up my body and soul with cocoa!

Quietly tucked away on the first floor of a building, this place may be hard to find, but its hidden gem vibe is charming. I ordered a standard hot cocoa. The sound of stirring in the quiet space was soothing. The cocoa had a gentle, classic flavor, not too sweet. It was evident that it was made with care. Served at just the right temperature, not too hot or too cold, I finished it in no time. They use bread from the rarely seen Namae Hutte, so I also had a cheese toast. Eating it while sipping the cocoa, the bread's saltiness paired perfectly with the gooey cheese, making me want more. A place where you can casually drop by and fully enjoy the experience, perfect for solo dining. The opening hours are relatively short. On Wednesdays, they sell bread from Namae Hutte.
