After work, I decided to check out "Toridō (Keito)" on its opening day, after seeing a recommendation on Instagram. It's located in the basement of the STV Clock Tower Building. You enter through the stairs next to Ateniyoru on the Clock Tower Street side. The dimly lit, calm atmosphere feels like a hidden gem, and with only 8 counter seats, it's better to make a reservation. The menu features mainly à la carte options and two types of courses. Since I wanted to try various dishes, I opted for a course with 7 skewers plus a 3000 yen meal.
Here's what the 3000 yen course included:
◯ Appetizer
◯ Negima (chicken and green onion skewers) - The juicy flavor of the chicken bursts in your mouth. The chicken is said to be Nagoya Cochin.
◯ Chicken thigh - With good elasticity and deliciousness!
◯ Chicken wings - Cut for easy eating, which is a nice touch.
◯ Seasonal vegetables - The grilled broad beans are fluffy inside! It pairs well with a little rock salt.
◯ Gizzard - One of my favorite parts. It has a great crunchy texture.
◯ Chicken liver - Shiny and plump, the liver looks great and is cooked perfectly! The sauce is nice too.
◯ Tsukune (chicken meatballs) - Rich in flavor, the tsukune dipped in egg yolk is pure bliss.
◯ Furisode (extra) - Before the main rice dish, I had a rare cut. I love the perfect amount of fat.
◯ Chicken soboro rice - With well-seasoned ground chicken, pouring hot chicken bone soup over it makes it exquisite! I ended with some hojicha tea to savor the moment.
For 3000 yen, the quality is surprisingly excellent, making me wonder if such a good deal is even possible. I found another great place! The drink selection was also fantastic. I started with a glass of Premium Malts, and I was pleased that all the glasses were thin-walled. When I was deciding on a type of sake, the staff recommended Juyondai, so of course, I went for that (the recommendation was spot on! lol). I then enjoyed a rare black dragon sake and finished with a refreshing sudachi sour. They had a wide variety of bottled wines, so pairing yakitori with wine seems like a great option as well. This place is close to my workplace, and I can't wait to come back for solo drinks next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

A yakitori restaurant that excels at grilling is wonderful. They serve alternating pieces of Nagoya Cochin and Hinai chicken, including wing tips and drumsticks, which are juicy and perfectly seasoned. The grilled gizzards are also delicious. When paired with natural wine, it enhances the experience, but it's also great to enjoy in between sips of sake!

I visited a restaurant with a bodybuilder from my company. He loves grilled chicken and was eating a lot since the competition was over. He praised not only the meat but also the vegetables and even the noodles at the end. There were many couples at this place as well. They seemed to be enjoying the food and drinks deliciously. It seems they have a high-grade course available now, and I'd like to treat myself to it at the end of the year. I wish someone could be my Santa Claus, but that’s probably wishful thinking.

I made a reservation in advance for the course. It's a stylish little place with only counter seating. It’s not very spacious, but the fact that they open early is a plus. They take great care with their ingredients while still offering reasonable prices, which is another great aspect. They have not only beer and sake but also wine and whiskey. It would be even better if there were a bit more volume in the portions! I’ll definitely visit again.

Since my first visit, I've had trouble going back due to regular Sundays off, but I finally managed to visit again. Torito is such a delicious place that I could book my next reservation as soon as I arrive. The juicy Jidori chicken is truly to my liking. On this day, I was surprised by a salad featuring shungiku (crown daisy). It was incredibly crunchy and refreshing, with a cold truffle dressing that made it very tasty. For the finale, I enjoyed the reliable chicken broth ramen, and I always leave completely satisfied.

I ordered the most popular course. The Nagoya Cochin chicken breast, chicken tender, nagaimo (Japanese yam), and white eggplant were all served with excellent grilling. The chicken soup served at the end was also very delicious and wrapped up the meal perfectly. My companion enjoyed beer, sake, and shochu. The cost performance is also outstanding.

It's a small underground restaurant with about eight counter seats, making the distance between the staff and customers very close. Each dish was served at a nice pace. Both the taste and atmosphere were great, and the service was attentive and friendly, making it a highly enjoyable place. The final chicken broth was rich and delicious. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely visit again!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal again this time. The Hinai jidori chicken was very firm and satisfying; it's one of my favorite meats. I learned that starting in September, they offer only set courses, so I chose the 4500 yen course. It was so delicious that I couldn't resist adding extra skewers, and I also added noodles to the soup that came with the course. The chicken broth ramen was exceptional; I finished every drop of the soup. Last time, the oyakodon was also quite delicious, but it wasn't available this time, which was a bit disappointing. However, the ramen was truly amazing. I'll definitely be back!

Hello everyone! After watching a movie featuring my favorite actor, I had some time to kill before my target store opened at 4 PM. This summer, I’ve been grabbing quick drinks during my afternoons at places near "Satsusine," but today I decided to have a proper meal at a yakitori restaurant specializing in Nagoya Cochin chicken called “Torito.” I made a reservation for the 3,500 yen course online through Tabelog that morning. By the end of August, they were still allowing a la carte orders, but it stated that starting in September, they would only offer set courses (I apologize for the posting delays).
I headed downstairs and entered the quaint interior after taking a few steps in. There were a couple of pairs dining, and the atmosphere was chic with just a counter. Let’s start with a beer!
✴︎ Chawanmushi with Tamogi mushrooms (the broth was delightful)
✴︎ Chicken breast with wasabi (with a touch of soy sauce)
✴︎ Thigh and shank (incredible texture and the fat splattered; shank had long fibers)
✴︎ Neck (enjoyable texture)
✴︎ Ponkotsu (pleasantly fatty)
✴︎ Okra with rice flour and salt
✴︎ Gizzards (small and round)
✴︎ Liver (sweet)
✴︎ Tsukune with a raw egg (fragrant with ginger; the sauce was subtly sweet)
✴︎ Minced chicken rice with chicken soup
The chawanmushi was a special request due to my fruit allergy. The care taken here was nice, and the broth was really well made. The thigh and shank were delicious! The firmness and flavor of the Nagoya Cochin chicken were outstanding. I loved all the skewers, and the sauce was on the spicier side. The tsukune had a nice ginger flavor. The minced chicken rice was a bit ordinary on its own, but the chicken soup dramatically enhanced it—definitely worth trying!
The restaurant seems to be managed by two men: one grilling the yakitori and the other handling the dining area. I didn’t ask who the owner was, but the yakitori tasted impeccable, and the service was attentive. They also seemed knowledgeable about sake and wine without complaint, though the beer servings were a bit small and slightly pricey.
They open at 4 PM on weekdays and 3 PM on weekends, making it a convenient spot. It has a hidden-gem feel and a nice ambiance. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to eat yakitori during my trip to Hokkaido, so I did some research and went to this place called "Kate," which is easily accessible from Sapporo Station and Odori Station. I visited on a Sunday at 4 PM. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere with only 8 counter seats. Here’s what I had from the ¥3,500 omakase course:
- Cold soup with Chinese cabbage
- Breast with wasabi
- Thigh & shank
- Chicken wings
- Neck
- Manganji pepper
- Quail
- Gizzard
- Liver
- Tsukune (chicken meatball)
- Soboro rice
- Chicken soup (additional)
- Drinks: Draft beer, white wine, red wine, sansho (Japanese pepper) sour, ginger sour
They use Nagoya Cochin chicken here. The tsukune was incredibly delicious! It was coarsely ground and meaty, with a strong ginger flavor, which I love! It seems they've only been open for about six months and are working hard to improve. I've heard it gets quite full early in the evening! You can really feel the chef's passion for yakitori. They want to change the yakitori culture in Sapporo!!! I could see the sparkle in their eyes when they talked about yakitori restaurants in Tokyo. The staff was fun to talk to and knowledgeable about drinks; it was the best experience. It genuinely felt like a warm, enjoyable time. I will definitely visit again when I go to Sapporo. Thank you for the meal!

A few days ago, I made a reservation by phone and arrived around 7:30 PM on the day. It was my first time visiting, but it was a wonderful restaurant known for its outstanding hospitality, especially towards regular customers. The ingredients were top-notch, the seasoning was a bit on the stronger side, and the wine had a good cost-performance ratio!

I indulged in yakitori at this restaurant chosen by my gourmet friend. The atmosphere is sophisticated, with only counter seating, and it has a secret hideaway vibe that's delightful. The course was a simple 3,500 yen that included an appetizer, seven chef's choice skewers, and chicken soboro rice, but it was anything but simple! Each skewer was grilled with care, and the quality of the ingredients was evident even to someone like me who isn’t particularly gourmet-savvy. Everything was delicious! I felt full and ready to give up, but I somehow finished the rice at the end. The staff were also wonderful, and I definitely want to visit again.

I had been curious about this place after seeing it in a magazine, so I made a reservation through Tabelog. Since it was a Sunday, the only available time was 7:30 PM, and I was informed that the meat was running low as it had been a busy evening. However, I was able to enjoy most of the skewers I wanted. I was truly impressed from the very first dish, the chicken tender with wasabi—it was absolutely delicious! Everything was tasty, and I ended my meal with a chicken and egg bowl, which was also rich in flavor. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again!

This is a relatively new yakitori restaurant that uses Nagoya Cochin chicken. You can enjoy yakitori and drinks at a clean counter. There are two course options, and you can also order à la carte. This time, I chose the more expensive course. The staff are polite and friendly. The course includes (there may be some omissions): mackerel pâté, fruit tomatoes with mozzarella cheese, negima (chicken and leek skewers), chicken breast meat, thigh, shin, quail, soft-boiled chicken wings, fava beans, Ehime watercress salad, ponziri (chicken neck), cheese tsukune, and chicken paitan ramen. Everything was delicious, but the chicken meat, cheese, and soft-boiled quail eggs were especially tasty. The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere, making it a good choice for dates or for girls' gatherings. It's perfect for those who want to eat yakitori but dislike dirty restaurants. The selection of sake and wine is also abundant.

I really enjoyed this cozy and calming little place. The wine was delicious, and they had Japanese whiskey, which perfectly fit the criteria I always look for in a restaurant, so I'll definitely be back. We had a 3,500 yen course meal, which was just the right amount for us as light eaters, and the grilled chicken was cooked perfectly (I’m not a fan of undercooked meat), so we were very satisfied. I also appreciated the service of swapping the quail skewer for the bread and pâté, which my partner doesn’t like. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. Thank you very much!

It’s been a while since I was in Sapporo! 🎶 ➖Chicken Lantern➖ Located in the basement level 1 of the STV Clock Tower Building, opening in February 2024! You can enjoy yakitori with wine or Japanese sake, using the rare Nagoya Cochin chicken, which is shipped directly from producers in Sapporo. They offer a 9-course and a 13-course menu, as well as à la carte options. This time, I opted for the course meal 【13 dishes for 4,800 yen】 during my visit in April.
◇ Appetizer (Mackerel confit)
◇ Starter (Chicken breast with sesame miso)
◆ Green onion (breast)
◆ Main meat (thigh, shank)
◇ Quail egg
◇ Seasonal vegetables (Asparagus from Atsukawa)
◇ Special dish (Chicken shumai)
◆ Gizzard
◆ Heart (liver)
◇ Aged mozzarella cheese
◆ Egg yolk tsukune
◆ Back liver
◆ Extra dish (additional)
◆ Soryris (additional)
◇ Chicken bone broth ramen
Recently, Sapporo has seen a rise in course-style yakitori restaurants. Although the price is on the higher side, "Chicken Lantern" uses Nagoya Cochin with a well-structured menu at this price, leaving me thoroughly satisfied! Thank you for the meal!

I quickly returned for a repeat visit after my initial experience. This time, since it was the weekend, the atmosphere in the restaurant felt even more casual and stylish. Once again, I enjoyed the 3,500 yen course and savored the skewers!! The chicken, negima, and gizzards were delicious. I also added skin, drill (chicken neck), and shoulder meat, which made me very satisfied. For the finale, I enjoyed the minced chicken rice topped with rich broth, eating it like ochazuke (rice with tea). This time, I paired it with sake, which was also delightful. I'll definitely be a regular here!

I attended a farewell party for a colleague at a restaurant that some seniors also wanted to try. It was great to hear that they had marked this place as a recommendation. The cold corn soup, sashimi, and yakitori, with various parts expertly grilled, were all delicious and really highlighted their unique flavors. Everyone was thrilled. It helped us temporarily forget about our worries. On the way out, my colleague made a reservation to come back with his wife. Everything was well planned!

I was able to make a reservation and visit the restaurant. When I walked in, I saw a familiar face. It was someone I had spoken with at another restaurant where they used to work, which made me feel more at ease. As for the grilled chicken, each part had its own distinctive flavor, and everything was delicious. For my final order, I asked for a rare cut, which had a unique taste and was really good. There was also a wide variety of drinks available, making it impossible to eat and drink everything in one visit. I'll definitely be going back!

I visited a new restaurant that I had been really curious about. It's relatively close to Sapporo Station and has a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy natural wines and grilled chicken skewers. I quickly ordered the 9-skewer course. For the wine, I ordered both by the glass and by the bottle. The red wines were all fresh and elegant, exactly to my taste. The grilled chicken skewers were made with high-quality Nagoya Cochin, offering a great texture and rich flavor that was delicious. I’m really happy to find a place with this quality at this price range in this location. I will definitely come back!

This is a restaurant that opened independently from its previous establishment in November. The entrance is a bit hard to find; you need to enter the underground entrance of Ateniyor and the store is on the right side. It's a stylish yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) restaurant, and there have been a lot of new places popping up in Sapporo lately. It's great news for office workers since this one is located between Sapporo Station and Odori.
