On October 27, 2011, I made my first visit to a store that I had been wanting to stop by for a while. Located on the main street of Nagasuma-cho, it can be described as a supermarket specializing in food sales - "FreshonGrove Nakamori". Although I had passed by this store many times, I had never felt the need to enter a supermarket in Nagasuma. However, after hearing from a friend about the surprisingly cost-effective homemade bento boxes available at this store, I just had to go check it out. Inside the store, it had the appearance of a typical supermarket with a wide variety of products for sale. They had a good selection of fresh fish and meat, and the prices were quite cheap too! It's a supermarket that is clearly popular with the locals. As I explored the store and looked at the different products, I came across the rumored bento box corner near the exit! Since it was evening, there weren't many options available, but there it was - the much-talked-about bento box at an astonishing price! A tonkatsu bento box for only 260 yen! 260 yen... that's incredibly cheap. And because it was late, there was even a 50 yen discount sticker on it. Unbelievable! I decided to buy the bento box, and I also noticed that they had a good selection of sake. They had Maou and Morio, among others. There were quite a few types of Japanese sake available, although the prices were understandably higher. Now, even though it was only 260 yen, it still had to taste good. So, I took it home to try it out. First, the appearance. It was quite a generous portion. The tonkatsu wasn't thin at all. Now, let's eat! The tonkatsu had a slightly thick coating, but the meat itself was tender and delicious! The rice was also tasty. I mean, if this only costs 260 yen, it's too cheap! I can imagine how great it would be to see these warm bento boxes lined up at the store during lunchtime. It must be a great convenience for those working in this area of Nagasuma, and a wallet-friendly treat for the elderly. Yes, Nakamori in Nagasuma is a winner! I truly admire the efforts of this company. They are doing a fantastic job, and I can see why they are able to compete with the large supermarkets just a 10-minute drive away. Thank you for the delicious meal!
