After a long time, I visited a hometown branch of a popular soup curry restaurant that now has several locations in Sapporo and Tokyo. It was my first time visiting, as I had never been to the other locations. I arrived a bit early because I had heard that it gets quite crowded. About 15 minutes after opening, there was already a waiting list with about 3 groups ahead of me. However, they seemed to be managing the number of customers and available tables well, so I was called in shortly. I already knew what I wanted to order - Chicken (crispy) curry as the base, with burnt cheese and crispy broccoli toppings. I chose the regular soup with a spice level of 3 (medium spicy). They mentioned that there were 8 types of vegetables, but I'm okay with not having that many, so the moderate amount here was perfect for me. The vegetables that day were potatoes, carrots, purple onions, cabbage, red radish, broccoli, bell peppers, and wood ear mushrooms. Wood ear mushrooms are quite rare. The soup had a thick consistency, reminiscent of Nepalese curry. The spiciness was mild. I could have handled a spicier level like 4. The chicken was crispy and well-seasoned with salt and pepper, which made it delicious. It was nice to savor the crispy chicken while soaking it in the soup. The burnt cheese was served on top of rice or soup, and I chose rice, which was the right choice. The crispy broccoli added a garlic flavor that complemented the dish well. If I were to go again, I would be interested in trying the Samurai Zangi, hamburger, lamb, and maybe a larger portion of soup!
