It's a drive towards Yubari and the final stop is Yuni Station (laughs). There is a tourist information center inside Yuni Station where they also sell vegetables, so I ended up buying some. There is a traditional-looking sweet shop in front of Yuni Station, so I decided to stop by. The shop owner, dressed in underwear, hurriedly put on a white coat (^^;) It's hot, so it's okay to stay as you are (laughs). I bought a snack called "Fushimi-dai" which has butter and jam, so I bought both. It's a type of cookie that crumbles a bit, but it's delicious. These kinds of local sweet shops are becoming rare, so I hope they continue to thrive. Thanks for the delicious treat!! And that's the end of the drive towards Yubari.

【Takeout】Located in the almost central part of Hokkaido, in Yubari District, there is a gourd-shaped town called Yuni-cho. In Yuni-cho, there is a traditional Japanese sweets shop that seems to have been in business for a long time. The shop is located along Route 447, on the west side of JR Kuriyama Station. It's just a few minutes' walk from the station. Handmade Japanese sweets are waiting for you. Visited again on May 13, 2016, at 2:30 pm. If the shop is open when passing by, I always want to buy something. I bought 5 items this time because they were delicious last time. The gyuhi is soft and chewy, with just the right amount of sweetness and a refreshing aftertaste. The mugwort flavor is distinct, and the anko is delicious. The nerikiri bara and nadeshiko have a wonderful appearance and texture, with a nice deliciousness. Even just the kanoko beans part is delicious, and the filling is also tasty. The price is around 140 yen per item, which is cheap and delicious. It's a hidden gem in Yuni-cho. Visited for the first time on August 9, 2014, at 4:30 pm. Ate fried rice at Rahee Tai and got salmon kimchi from Kunio. Another place I stopped by in Yuni was Kobayashi Kashido. I happened to discover it during this cycling trip thanks to Mogutan's animal instincts. When I entered the store, the owner (?) brought out tea sweets from a container on the shelf on the right side, which are different from the usual snacks sold in supermarkets. I bought a couple of items to try. The gyuhi type for 140 yen has a soft gyuhi with a slightly fishy taste and anko. The sweetness is slightly restrained, and the taste of cinnamon is subtly present, which I really liked. I'm not sure, but it seems like they use cinnamon sticks soaked in milk to extract the flavor and aroma and then use it in the dough. The shika no ko for 140 yen has a good sweetness from the azuki beans and a nice texture. Overall, I found the taste and texture of these traditional Japanese sweets to be to my liking, and I felt that they were made with great skill. I want to try more varieties next time (laughs).
