■Tenshu Set ¥2288 Contents ~ Mini Zaru Soba, Tempura Assortment (Shiso Leaf, Shrimp, Bell Pepper, Eggplant, Squid), Sushi 6 Pieces (Salmon, Shrimp, Flying Fish Roe, Octopus, Red Tuna, Scallop), Chawanmushi, Pickles, Fruits (Orange, Pineapple)Zaru Soba: Soba noodles made with green tea, typical of Kushiro. The broth is on the stronger side. Overall, it has an average taste.Tempura Assortment: The frying level and batter thickness are good. Just the way I like it, crispy.Sushi 6 Pieces: Not good... (>_<) Comparable to supermarket sushi. Not very delicious.Chawanmushi: This was delicious! Good broth with perfectly textured egg. I wanted to have another one separately.Overall Impression: The menu is very extensive! It feels like a family restaurant for Japanese cuisine. This can be a dilemma for indecisive people (laughs). However, the quality of the sushi is low... ┓( ̄▽ ̄;)┏ If you don't mind that, then I think it's a pretty enjoyable soba restaurant ♡

I visited the restaurant around 1:00 PM on Saturday in December 2022. I was in the mood for a quick meal alone, so I decided to stop by after a long time. I ordered the parent and child soba, which is soba with chlorella. The egg had a gentle flavor, and the chicken soaked in the broth was also delicious. It was quite crowded on Saturday. They used to offer delivery service, which I often used, but they stopped it. The pork cutlet bowl here is soft and the broth is flavorful.

Visit date: June 9, 2022 For dinner on this day, my companion and I revisited Choshuan. We ordered: - Zaru Soba for 924 yen - Hiyashi Nuki for 858 yen I actually wanted to have a set meal, but they said they couldn't do it because it didn't come with rice, so I quickly changed my order to the above. My companion had Hiyashi Nuki two days in a row. Thank you for the meal.

My favorite soba restaurant is Chojusan located in Sakuragaoka. I always order the same Hojusan set (including tax 1,903 yen). About 8 years ago, the chawanmushi used to have Mitsuba on top and three types of fruits, but it has changed. This time, the soup was a bit salty, but it was delicious.

It's been a while since I visited Chosuan. It was my first time being seated at the counter-side raised seating area. It's been a while, but the soba noodles were still delicious! The noodles were firm and had a satisfying texture, truly living up to the name Chosuan! I love the yabu soba noodles. My son ordered the zaru soba with quail egg but didn't end up adding it in, a mysterious style. My daughter had the nameko mushroom with grated daikon, but found the daikon a bit spicy. My wife is starting to really enjoy the cold mountain vegetable soba. It has a healthy and delicious taste. I had the natto, seaweed, and grated yam soba. The natto was crushed for easy mixing. It reached my intestines alive and well. The chicken meat in the kashiwa-nuki soba was tender and comforting during the cold season. The soba sushi was as tasty as ever. I wish all soba restaurants had it... I also bought the soba inari that I was curious about as a souvenir. Topped with pickled ginger, seaweed, and shredded egg, it felt like a treasure chest of the soba world. It tasted almost like inari sushi, but with soba instead of rice. Unlike soba sushi, it didn't have the pickled ginger flavor, but it could be a nice gift. It showed me a different side of soba. I still love soba noodles. It made me realize that once again.

Parent and child soba for 935 yen. The noodles are a unique green color with chlorella, typical of Kushiro. The broth is light and has a traditional Kushiro soba flavor. The menu offers a variety of dishes such as tempura, sushi sets, sashimi, sushi, eel, and hot pots, but the prices are a bit on the higher side.

Before picking up the reserved sweets at Tsurui on a day trip to Kushiro, I decided to have lunch somewhere first. After some consideration, I decided to try something different and ended up at Chojusan around 12 o'clock. Surprisingly, there were available seats, and I was seated at a safe distance from others. The set meals were a bit pricey, so I asked my companion beforehand if it was okay to order the large size, to which they agreed. I ordered the Large Zaru Soba for 979 yen, while I opted for the Tanuki Soba for 748 yen. Additionally, we ordered Soba Sushi and Soba Inari each for 704 yen. The Large Zaru Soba and Tanuki Soba arrived in about 10 minutes. The green noodles were vibrant and eye-catching, and I added some chopped green onions and wasabi to the cold noodles. The soba had a good texture and the crispy tempura bits were delicious. As someone who doesn't particularly notice the aroma of soba, I had no issues with it. The dipping sauce was moderately salty, and the soba broth had a moderate flavor. My companion seemed satisfied with the portion size, although they had considered ordering an even larger size. After finishing our soba, we tried the Soba Sushi and Soba Inari. The lotus root on the Soba Sushi was visually appealing. My companion found the Soba Sushi a bit sour, so they requested less vinegar sauce, not realizing that the soba itself already had a vinegar taste. The Soba Inari, on the other hand, was not too vinegary and was a visually pleasing dish with toppings like pickled ginger, seaweed, and scrambled egg. Overall, we enjoyed trying out different dishes and had a satisfying meal.

On February 27, 2021 (Saturday), I went to a soba restaurant for lunch. I decided to try soba after a long time and I was looking forward to trying their "soba sushi" as well. I ordered the "Soba with Toppings (tax excluded 1060 yen)" and the "Soba Sushi (tax excluded 640 yen)". First, the Soba with Toppings arrived. I took a sip of the soup and it was light and well-balanced with a delicious broth that didn't get boring. I really like this flavor. The soba noodles were green and cooked just right. The chicken used in the kashiwa (chicken meatball) was good, and the way the egg was cooked was normal. However, the shrimp tempura was a bit on the crispy side. Moving on to the Soba Sushi, it had a nice tangy flavor from the vinegar. It was refreshing to eat, but something felt lacking, maybe a hint of sweetness? I remember the soba sushi at another restaurant having a sweeter taste. Overall, the menu at this restaurant is quite extensive, offering a variety of options from soba to set meals, sushi, sashimi, and even eel dishes. I'm curious to try more dishes in the future.

I wanted to eat soba sushi these days, so I went to Chojusan. They didn't have unlimited sushi, but they did have tanuki soba, which comes with warm egg, mitsuba, and nori. The soba sushi was delicious as expected. The noodles were green and had a satisfying chewiness. The broth was not too strong and easy to drink, but they didn't serve soba water. The kashiwa-nuki had a refreshing taste. The side dishes like kamaboko and lotus root were also skillfully prepared. Next time, I want to try the soba inari.

Visit date: September 5, 2020 For dinner on this day, my companion and I revisited Chojuan. We arrived around 19:40 and there were 4 groups of customers before us and 1 group after us. Our orders were: - Namachirashi Set (1630 yen) with soba noodles upsized for an additional 150 yen - Duck Seiro Soba (1010 yen) The dishes were served in about 15 minutes. The Namachirashi Set included raw fish over rice, soba noodles, chawanmushi, and dessert. The raw fish toppings included egg, tuna, octopus, salmon, shrimp, scallop, flying fish roe, and wasabi flying fish roe. The rice was well-seasoned and the soba noodles had a decent texture, but I prefer a stronger broth. The chawanmushi was filled with ingredients, and the dessert for the day was pineapple and orange. The Duck Seiro Soba was my companion's choice. Their feedback was that the soba noodles had a good texture but lacked fragrance. The broth was very sweet, and while the duck meat was tasty, the broth didn't have a strong duck flavor, so adding the duck meat to a regular soba broth might be a good idea. The soba broth was slightly cloudy but had a light consistency, and overall it was quite delicious. Upon entering, we were asked to disinfect our hands as part of their COVID-19 measures. During our visit, the restaurant was operating until 20:00 (last order). They accept payment through PayPay and Merpay. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. This restaurant is great for when you want to try both soba noodles and other dishes, as they offer a variety of set menus. I appreciate this as a service, so I would like to give them a higher rating.

The main store of a soba restaurant that has several branches in the city is located in Kushiro, a town known for soba. The menu is extensive, ranging from around 1,000 yen to 3,000 yen even for lunch. The restaurant is spacious with cozy seating areas, making it suitable for business meetings as well as families with children.

Visit date: May 16, 2019 For dinner on this day, my companion and I revisited Chouju-an. We were looking forward to the fresh chirashi set that we had previously enjoyed. It's nice that they offer a set with both soba and sushi. We arrived around 8:00 PM and there were no other customers. We sat at a table in the back and placed our order promptly. - Fresh Chirashi Set: 1630 yen + Large Rice: 150 yen - Chouju Set: 1730 yen My companion decided to try the Chouju Set, betraying their initial interest in the sushi. The set included sushi, shrimp tempura soba, wetland soba, chawanmushi, pickles, and dessert. Here are my companion's thoughts: The sushi consisted of 6 pieces: tuna, squid, octopus, salmon, shrimp, and flying fish roe. The vinegar in the rice wasn't too strong. The rice was on the larger side, and there was a bit more wasabi than I prefer. The balance between the rice and toppings would be better if the rice portion was a bit smaller. The salmon, in particular, was delicious. The shrimp tempura soba had thin noodles with a good texture. The broth wasn't too salty, just right. It didn't have a strong dashi flavor. The wetland soba was cold, and the noodles were more firm than chewy. I'm not usually a fan of moon-viewing eggs, but they tasted good combined with the broth and yolk. I wonder why it's called wetland soba? The chawanmushi had crab in it, I think. The chestnuts were a nice touch as always. The dessert was orange and pineapple, both sweet and tasty. They even brought us a refill of tea in a teapot, even though they were close to closing. It felt like they were saying, "Take your time." I'll probably visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Visit date: February 3, 2019 On this day, my companion who usually does not like to eat rice suddenly expressed a desire to eat chirashi sushi. And to make things even more surprising, they mentioned that they wanted it as a set with soba noodles. After some research, we decided to visit a restaurant aiming for a chirashi sushi set. The restaurant had a traditional Japanese style both in its exterior and interior. There were parking spaces for 4 cars in front of the restaurant and additional parking across the road, so parking was not an issue. We arrived after the peak hours, but the restaurant was still quite busy, mostly with families. I ordered the Chirashi Sushi Set for 1630 yen, with extra rice and soba noodles for an additional 150 yen each. The chirashi sushi included shrimp, squid, salmon, octopus, tuna, egg, scallop, flying fish roe, wasabi-flavored flying fish roe, and pickled lotus root. I tried wasabi-flavored flying fish roe for the first time and really enjoyed it. The vinegar in the sushi rice was not overpowering. My companion particularly liked the pickled lotus root. But all the other ingredients were delicious too! The portion of soba noodles in the set was surprisingly generous. It was a shame that they did not offer soba broth. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was a bit firm but had chestnuts inside, which was a nice touch. And we were pleasantly surprised with a fruit dessert at the end. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

A beloved restaurant in the Sakuragaoka area. They serve delicious food, especially their tempura is fried perfectly, and even those who love beer will be satisfied. They have a wide variety of side dishes, making it a great choice for occasions like weddings or funerals. It may be a bit more expensive than chain restaurants in the city, but you can tell they put in the effort. A little insider info - I remember in the past, under the previous owner, the sushi was twice the size it is now. It's easier to eat now, but back then, that oversized piece made it feel more special for special occasions. It's nostalgic. It's hard to imagine they weren't making a profit with sushi that big back then.

So, my partner wanted to eat here, and this time we decided to order set meals. My partner went for the sushi set, while I opted for the soba set. The soba set apparently takes longer to prepare, so I assumed my partner's order would arrive first. We arrived a little after 11 am, and there were already quite a few customers. It's a popular place. While waiting for our order, more and more people kept coming in. Thankfully, we were seated in a private room, so it was nice and cozy. Looking at the menu, I noticed they have a variety of set meals. Maybe I should have gone for the eel set instead? Oh well, too late now. My partner's sushi set arrived after about 13 minutes. It didn't look very big, but it came with soba, 6 pieces of sushi, pickles, chawanmushi, and fruit for dessert. It looked good. I wondered when my order would come. The wait was longer than expected. Oh, more and more dishes were being served to customers who arrived after us. Why is mine taking so long? I should have ordered the sushi set too. But I'll be patient. Finally, my soba set arrived. The soba noodles were green in color, made with wheat flour and chlorella. The dipping sauce was salty with a good dashi flavor. It was delicious. The set included natto soba, grated radish soba, cold soba, yam soba, tempura soba, along with a side of minced chicken and chawanmushi, pickles, and dessert. The portion size was small, suitable for those with big appetites. It might be a bit pricey, but the wait was worth it for the delicious meal. I finished quickly, and my partner was laughing at how fast I ate. Next time, we'll try the eel set! Oh, and they also served complimentary coffee after the meal. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a ramen shop at the odd hour of 3 o'clock, but it was closed. So I decided to try "Chojusan" nearby. The restaurant was spacious but empty. The staff were all gathered in the kitchen, some noticed me as I entered. I was seated in a raised area and ordered the tempura soba. The noodles arrived quickly, but the broth was too salty and the soba lacked flavor. The tempura consisted of two shrimp, with most of the coating and little shrimp. Overall, I was disappointed. Goodbye.
