Today my wife went on a train trip to Hakodate. Since she's not home for dinner, I needed to figure out what to eat. Then it hit me - sushi! There's only one sushi restaurant left in Kuriyama, which is where I live. It's quite rare to find sushi places around here. I went to the restaurant and checked the menu. They had options ranging from under 1,000 yen to over 2,000 yen. I ordered one serving each of bamboo shoots and pickled plum, and then remembered I had local revitalization coupons, so I added sea urchin and salmon roe. The total went over 3,000 yen, so I used 3 coupons and got a 900 yen discount. It turned out to be quite a luxurious sushi meal! When I got home, I dug in. The sushi from this place has slightly softer rice, but it's still made by skilled hands. The toppings were decent, but the sea urchin and salmon roe were the highlights. The sea urchin had some cucumber in it, which was a bit disappointing, but the taste was perfect for this season. I finished two servings all by myself. I love sushi after all. It was a very satisfying dinner! Sushi is best when hand-rolled. Even at a lower price point, good quality sushi is always delicious. I truly enjoyed my meal today!

Even though I have been living in this town for 7 years, there was a delivery sushi restaurant that I had never tried before. It seems that His Majesty has had it a few times, but I have not. I apologize for that. As I am starting a low-carb diet month from tomorrow, I wanted to finish it off with sushi. Due to budget constraints, I opted for a budget-friendly option at Mats. Wow, it was delicious! The fish was a bit on the larger side, but the freshness and the balance of the rice were just perfect. I apologize again for underestimating it. To top it off, I received a chawanmushi as a bonus and even homemade seaweed simmered in soy sauce. The owner is elderly and you have to speak up to be heard, but he is a very pleasant old man. What I didn't know is that besides delivery and takeout, you can also dine in at the counter or on a small raised platform during lunch hours. I apologize once again for my repeated apologies. I will definitely visit again once the mourning period is over in 3 months. Ah, it was so delicious. Thank you for the meal.

August 30, 2015, Sunday. Even though it's a Sunday, I had to work today... I finished around 4 pm, feeling quite tired myself, and my wife was also not feeling well. So, I decided to buy some ready-made food on the way home for dinner. I stopped by here to get some sushi from "Takarazushi." It's been a while since I had their sushi. I ordered 3 servings of take-out sushi for 1,300 yen each (excluding tax). They made it right away, so I did some other shopping (just buying some sweet potato shochu) and when I came back, the sushi was already ready! I was surprised to see that they included chawanmushi with the take-out sushi. And as a bonus, they gave us some homemade shiokara too! When I got home, I immediately started eating. The price is cheap, so the ingredients are not high-end, but the sushi was surprisingly delicious! The sushi rice was really good. I was amazed at how tasty it was. My wife probably had this sushi for the first time, and she was also impressed by the deliciousness. The ingredients were fresh, and considering the price, it was a great sushi meal. The chawanmushi was unexpectedly hot, maybe just steamed? I'm not sure, but it was warm and the taste was really good. The ingredients were basic, but the flavor was excellent. And the shiokara was also delicious! It was a bit salty, but being homemade without any preservatives, the richness of the flavor stood out. Homemade shiokara is the best... I wonder if they sell this shiokara separately... It was a bit of a luxurious weekend dinner, but it was very delicious. I'll definitely buy sushi from here again. It's great to have such delicious and affordable sushi nearby. Thank you for the meal! [Original review of "Takarazushi" - A take-out and take-away sushi restaurant in Kurayama] February 17, 2013. Today, I will introduce a new shop in Kurayama town! It's a take-out and take-away sushi restaurant that I have been neglecting since Sushi Tabana opened. Its name is "Takarazushi"! Takarazushi has been in business for about 20 years. When the shop first opened, they had 500 yen sushi, which was quite shocking. So, I used to go there quite often. At that time, the misconception was that it was a cheap sushi restaurant. But in reality, they offer delicious sushi at an affordable price. I realized that as I grew older (laughs). They have quite a variety of sushi, ranging from around 700 yen to 2,000 yen with about 5-6 different options. Today, my wife is not home for dinner, so I reserved just one serving for take-out! The sushi I got today cost 1,600 yen. I asked for it to be packed in a plastic container for take-out. Normally, for delivery, they use a sushi tub. When I opened it, I was surprised! The ingredients were really good. At 1,600 yen, it would be considered the cheapest class in a regular sushi restaurant. However, the sushi at Takarazushi has top-quality ingredients that rival even the best sushi places!! Oh, I requested to change the kazunoko to maguro. Eating it, I was convinced. The ingredients, the way it's made, and the sushi rice were all excellent. It's a well-balanced sushi! With my appetite, one serving of this sushi won't be enough to fill me up, but... I have other food prepared, so it's okay (laughs). I had a very delicious sushi meal!! Thank you for the meal!

Even though it was a holiday, His Majesty had to attend both the ◯◯ Association event and his own sewing club's (Patch) presentation, which seemed quite hectic. The attendants were also busy with their work... As a result, on his way back, he kindly brought back dinner. The takeout sushi was delicious. The elderly gentleman also generously gave us some tasty homemade salted fish roe. His Majesty doesn't usually drink much, but we raised a toast to his hard work. Thank you for the meal.

【Takeout】Today was the last day of work for someone in our office for the year, so our boss arranged for us to order sushi for lunch. We each chose something we liked and ordered takeout, with the party budget covering the cost. Most people ordered seafood bowls, but I decided to go for the most expensive nigiri at 2,200 yen. Since the appeal of the restaurant is its affordability, I usually stick to cheaper options. It was a little exciting trying something different. I went to pick up the food and we enjoyed it at the office. There were 10 pieces in total, with luxurious toppings like fatty tuna, sea urchin, and ark shell. It felt a bit strange since I'm used to cheaper toppings. I think I actually prefer the cheaper options, like lean tuna. Despite that, the sushi was delicious and worth the price. While others mostly ordered chirashi bowls, the most expensive one came with the toppings separated, making it look a bit underwhelming. In the end, I think this restaurant is better suited for casual, affordable sushi. It was a tasty meal! Thank you very much.
