When I visited Akai River before April 2021, I was intrigued by the banners, so I parked my car. It is a shop located on the way from Yoichi to Akai River, on the way to the Michi-no-Eki (roadside station). The storefront is lined with vegetables and flowers. At this time, the vegetables are mainly from outside the region, but when the season comes, they will be local Akai River produce. Inside, we ordered some zangi (deep-fried chicken) - 6 pieces for 100 yen each. While they were frying, the three of us, women, browsed the vegetables and flowers. When they were ready, we were given the piping hot zangi with chopsticks. The shop owner had a friendly atmosphere. We took the zangi to the Michi-no-Eki at Akai River. At the Michi-no-Eki, there are no restaurants, so we had brought onigiri (rice balls) with us. We enjoyed the zangi as a side dish. They were juicy, delicious, and crispy - addictive!
