Today, I had a friendly gathering with fishermen in Hidaka Town, Monbetsu. They served us a set meal with "harume" included. They prepared dishes for the banquet, featuring a variety of seafood. The seasoning of the simmered flounder was exceptional, and it was incredibly tender. It was so good that I couldn't finish it all, so I took the leftovers home and enjoyed them as a snack with drinks the next day!

● On the Saturday of the Ox Day in July 2016, this year it falls on July 30th! The Food Log timeline is filled with eel posts! Damn it! I want to go eat too! I remember seeing a sign saying "eel" at Harume! I'm going to go eat! However, I have work until 9 o'clock... But Harume stays open late, so it should be fine! So, after 9 o'clock, I jumped in and asked, "Do you have eel?" "Yes, we do," was the reply, and I placed my order without knowing the price. Pickles and miso soup also came with it. The eel was packed in the box! The rice was also quite packed, not just a thin layer at the bottom. The meat was tender and satisfying! The price was exactly 2000 yen! I'm satisfied that I got to eat eel today! Thank you for the meal! ● This is the 850th restaurant I've been to in June 2016! It stays open pretty late, and it's near Monbetsu Station, so every time I use the station, I think to myself, "I want to try going in once..." The appearance of the restaurant is really nice, and it looks like a delicious place. I had already tried "Sushi Ten" and "Toriten Yakiniku" nearby, so I was waiting for an opportunity to visit this place. Just at dinner time, when my family was really hungry, we happened to pass by the neighborhood, so we decided to go in. It was a bit early, so it was just my family. There were counter seats and private rooms, and it had a very calming atmosphere. The ladies at the restaurant were very kind and considerate, asking, "Would you like to sit in this private room?" "Do you want to watch anime?" They were really gentle and thoughtful. ● Sashimi Chirashi - 1300 yen Pickles and miso soup also came with it. It was packed with ingredients, and even my child finished it perfectly! I was torn between the sashimi set meal and the chirashi, but I chose the chirashi because they recommended it, saying, "The chirashi has a lot of different toppings." Next time, I want to try the sashimi set meal. ● Mixed Fry - 1200 yen I asked for two servings of rice, but the total bill was 2900 yen, so maybe the rice was 200 yen? Or was the miso soup 100 yen and the rice 100 yen? The fried items included squid, oyster, scallop, and fish cutlet skewers, and the mixed fry was 1200 yen. They said, "It has fillet, squid, cod, and shrimp." "The portion is quite large, so it's enough for two people, right?" based on the recommendation from the staff, my child and I shared one plate. It was indeed quite a generous portion! Even if I had eaten it alone, I would have been quite full. Sharing with my child, we were satisfied with the miso soup, pickles, and rice, and our stomachs were full! And the fried items were hot and crispy, with thick meat! It was satisfying to eat delicious fry dishes. I left feeling completely satisfied! This is a restaurant I will definitely visit again. It's a bit pricey, but I was completely satisfied! This restaurant is a place full of memories from over 20 years ago, although we used to visit only about once a month. The "eel bowl," "salmon roe bowl," and "red sea bream" were all delicious. Before getting married to my partner, we used to go to this restaurant often after finishing work late at night. We would just go to eat rice dishes back then. We weren't particularly close with the owner, just exchanging small talk. Recently, after a long time, we had a reason to visit the restaurant in Hidaka. I'm not sure why we hadn't gone in 20 years. It wasn't a bad place, and the food was tasty. Perhaps it was because it held memories from our youth, making it hard to revisit. As we hesitantly opened the door, we saw the familiar faces of the two owners. Although at first, I doubted if it was the same owner from before, sitting down and relaxing made me realize it was indeed them. They didn't remember our faces, but they remembered we used to come from a certain place. When we asked for recommendations, they honestly said the fish wasn't good that day. We ordered the "sashimi set" and the "fried flounder set." The total came to 2500 yen for both, just like in the past. The food arrived, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. The taste brought back fond memories, and the service was warm and familiar. The owner even offered us more food. As we finished eating, we promised to come back, and the owner said she would keep the restaurant open until then. The history of the restaurant is not well known, but the previous owner, who is 101 years old, is still healthy. This must be a longstanding establishment. I hope this restaurant continues for many more years. I look forward to visiting again.
