Under the scorching heat of the hottest temperature ever recorded in Sapporo, I visited this nearby bakery as a reward for passing a hospital checkup with no issues. It had been a while since my last visit, but to my disappointment, there were no cream puffs available, despite the sign saying they had them. When I asked the staff, they said they hadn't put them out because they would melt in the heat. I ended up buying a King's Pudding, a Swiss Roll, and a Special Mont Blanc cake. They were all delicious as always! The Special Mont Blanc cake was a delightful combination of chestnut paste, white chocolate, cream, sponge cake, nuts, and a crunchy cookie on top. The Swiss Roll was generously sized, and the King's Pudding, with a dollop of cream on top, was a favorite of mine. Despite the odd exchange with the owner, I look forward to returning for their cream puffs once the weather cools down!

On a leisurely weekday, I wandered around the area near Higashi Ward on my bicycle. As I was heading back, I passed by a place called "Swing Kitchen" and decided to stop by. From the name alone, I couldn't tell what kind of store it was, but it seemed to be a cake shop. I took out my smartphone in front of the store to gather information online. The shop was opened in 2001 at this location by a local favorite, Saori Matsuura, a graduate of the Sapporo Fruit and Vegetable Specialist School who serves as the pastry chef. Their popular item is the "King's Cream Puff," limited to 10 pieces per day, which has even been featured on TV. Inside the shop, a middle-aged man who seemed to be the owner greeted me. In front of me, there were various colorful cakes in a display case, and on the right wall, there were baked goods. Since I was traveling by bicycle, I gave up on the cakes and instead looked at the shelves of baked goods. However, I couldn't resist the temptation of the "King's Cream Puff @280 each" and ended up buying two. When I got home, the puff wasn't as crispy as it would have been fresh, but the custard and whipped cream, which were not too sweet, were packed tightly inside, creating a well-balanced taste. Calling it the "King" might be an exaggeration, but it was a delicious cream puff. The "Shortcake" also looked colorful and delicious, with a good cost-performance ratio, so I plan to visit by car next time. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this bakery on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm. I had originally planned to go to a different store but ended up forgetting about it and stumbled upon this place instead. The exterior and interior of the store made me a bit wary, and I was the only customer inside. The owner, who seemed a bit strange, came out from the back room to serve me. Normally, I would choose three items, but this time I settled for two.
Premium Roll - 368 yen (Chef's recommendation #1): The cake was carefully wrapped in transparent plastic. The cake itself was not dry, but it lacked moisture. The cream had a milky taste with a mild sweetness, fading away smoothly in the mouth. Despite the varying sizes, this cake was one of the best I've had for 368 yen. Whether the price and the "premium" label are appropriate is up for debate.
Grand Marnier Chocolat - 399 yen (Popular #2): A rich chocolate flavor, with a strong sweetness in this gateau chocolat(?). The cream had a milky sweetness and melted in the mouth, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. Personally, I wish it was priced at 400 yen for various reasons.
Although I had some reservations about the place, the cakes turned out to be delicious and I was relieved. Thank you for the meal. Thank you for reading today as well.

Because I have an unsophisticated palate, I prefer cakes that are creamy and sweet. The cake had plenty of cream, was big, cheap, and perfect. I realized that I actually enjoy eating familiar flavors the most. I used to eat a lot of small, complicated cakes that I didn't really understand, but now I've confirmed that I prefer this kind of cake.

Cream puffs are limited to 10 per day, with a crispy coffee-flavored crust. The cream filling consists of custard and fresh cream, with just the right amount of sweetness that pairs well with the coffee-flavored crust. Delicious!

After visiting for the first time in 4-5 years, I bought the caramel chiffon cake that I had heard about last time. It still has that deliciously bittersweet caramel cream that I love! For those who enjoy rare cheesecake and berries, I recommend trying the seasonal limited edition blueberry cheesecake.

The cream puffs and pudding were not sold out, but I bought and ate bavarois, mont blanc, and roll cake, which were delicious with a restrained sweetness.

I had been curious about this place for a while, but since it's closed on Sundays, I hadn't been able to visit until now. The shop is located near Mikaho Park in a residential area. When I entered the shop, a staff member appeared from the back. The showcase was filled with delicious looking cakes, including some original ones. I bought a few and headed home. The Premium Roll had a firm sponge cake with a hint of egg flavor. The whipped cream was not too sweet and had a refreshing sweetness. The Caramel Chiffon Cake had a fluffy and moist sponge cake with a hint of bitter caramel flavor. The seasonal tart had a buttery tart crust topped with custard and fruits like grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and oranges. Each fruit had a fresh and vibrant taste, allowing me to enjoy a variety of flavors. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a certain weekday, I finally had the chance to visit a cake shop in Higashi-ku that had caught my attention before. The shop is located on a one-way street and I'm not sure if they have a parking lot. The interior of the shop is compact, with a minimal showcase displaying various dry cakes and pastries for sale. On this day, I chose a few items from the menu that caught my eye. The "Strawberry Shortcake (378 yen)" was delightful. It had a generous amount of strawberries on top, providing a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The sponge cake was moist and easy to eat, with a layer of sweet and creamy whipped cream underneath, and large slices of strawberries on the bottom. The "Premium Roll (350 yen)" was perfectly baked, with just the right amount of egg and a well-balanced white chocolate cream filling. It was so delicious that I finished it in no time. The "King's Pudding (284 yen)" had a dollop of whipped cream on top and a strong vanilla bean flavor, complementing the sweet and bitter caramel perfectly. It seems like the shop has been working hard in this area for many years, and I hope they continue to do so in the future. Thank you for the delicious treats.

I felt like they were aiming to make classic high-end gateau more accessible for everyone as a dessert option, but I'm not sure if they succeeded. I tried their caramel chiffon cake, limited to 10 pieces a day. The creamy texture felt luxurious, and the rich caramel flavor was a nice touch, giving it a sophisticated French vibe. However, the chiffon cake itself felt a bit too traditional and professional for my taste. I prefer cakes made with different ingredients or flours that offer a unique taste. It's a bit of a luxurious complaint, I know. I wonder if I'll be impressed if I try some of their heavier cakes next time, or if they might be too much for me.

I used to live quite close to the shop before, but I had never used it. I saw Swing Kitchen's cakes at the Sapporo SweetS cafe showcase. That shop... I can't go there now because it's a bit far. So I decided to try it. The Super Tiramisu had an impressive name (laughs) and it was quite voluminous! It had mascarpone cream, coffee-infused sponge, etc. It was not too sweet, moist, creamy, and delicious~ but it didn't have a strong cheese flavor. I had a relaxing and happy time with coffee. Swing Kitchen, Sapporo SweetS cafe, the showcase was until the end of November. If I encounter it again, I would like to try other cakes as well. Thank you for the meal. (*^▽^*)

■King's Cream Puff 240 yen
This cream puff is like something you would find at a traditional Western confectionery shop, very standard. It has powdered sugar on top, giving it a nostalgic feel. Although the price is a bit high, the size is larger than usual. The choux pastry is sliced horizontally like a hamburger bun, with custard cream and whipped cream sandwiched inside. The whipped cream, in particular, had a familiar and comforting taste, similar to what you would find in a strawberry shortcake. While I didn't find it particularly impactful, I realized that cream puffs don't necessarily need to be. They are reliable and delicious no matter where you get them.

At first, it may be easy to get lost on the one-way street where the "Cake & Sweets Shop" is located. I stopped by because I was passing by, but ended up getting lost in the dark.
[Special Chocolate] 358 yen
A cake with sponge and cream made of chocolate. The chocolate flavor is quite good, not too sweet. It has a slight hint of alcohol.
[New York Fromage XO] 358 yen
A cake with a refreshing cheese flavor, slightly sweet. It has a smooth texture and a touch of elegance.
[Paris Mont Blanc] 378 yen
A combination of cassis and chestnut, said to be popular in Paris. The sponge cake is a bit dry. The chestnut cream and whipped cream are decent. The service was adequate. Thank you for the meal.
There weren't many options left as it was close to closing time. They seem to have a variety of other cakes as well. The character decorations on the cakes give off a nostalgic vibe.

"Super" was a rare and amusing addition to the name of the store. I saw it on TV and became curious about the "Super Tiramisu," so I decided to visit. They only make 10 a day, so I called in the afternoon, worried they might be sold out. When I arrived, the pastry chef greeted me, and to my surprise, they still had some left. The "Super Tiramisu" was served in a unique dish and was topped generously with cocoa powder. The taste was light and refreshing, with layers of mascarpone cheese and sponge cake. It had a subtle hint of alcohol, but it was not overpowering. The "King's Cream Puff" was also interesting, with a surprise custard cream filling inside the choux pastry. The vanilla bean flavor was prominent and satisfying. The bakery also had a variety of delicious baked goods, making it a great place to visit for high-quality desserts.

I had a visit after a long time because I had some errands nearby. It's worth noting that the shop is located on a one-way street without a parking lot. This time, I bought a Mont Blanc and Tiramisu with cassis, as well as a pumpkin pudding. The Tiramisu was a bit too sweet for my liking but had a good texture and was quite delicious. The pumpkin pudding had a consistent taste, although I personally prefer a smoother texture. Puddings are definitely a must-have item at this shop. However, the Mont Blanc didn't suit my taste at all, which was surprising. It may be that their style has changed slightly. This bakery in Higashi Ward is popular and has been featured in department store cake corners and Sapporo Sweets Cafe. Their cakes are not overly sweet and delicious. The cheesecakes, in particular, never disappoint. The Gorgonzola cake is especially amazing. However, the cakes here tend to be heavy, so you can't eat too much at once. The lighter option would be the pudding, which is rich and tasty.

I bought some baked sweets as a souvenir to bring to my friend's house. I got two of each of four different kinds - financiers and madeleines, all moist and just the way I like them. I heard that the roll cakes and cream puffs here are recommended and delicious, so I definitely want to try buying cakes next time. They cost over 350 yen each, so it might be a bit expensive to buy in large quantities. You can also order character cakes for birthdays. However, it's a bit inconvenient because there is no parking lot and it's a one-way street.

Heading south from North 24th Street, you'll find a one-way street. A little further south, you'll see a cake shop with an orange tent on your right. I heard that this shop has delicious cream puffs! When I went around 2 p.m., they were already sold out. I wanted to buy around 15 cakes as souvenirs, but ended up buying other cakes instead. Each cake is beautifully made, and the sliced cakes are very luxurious! However, the sliced cakes are priced between 380 to 500 yen each, which is a bit on the higher side. The cakes range from around 350 yen, while tarts with fruit or decorated pies are around 400 yen. So, 15 cakes cost me around 6000 yen. It's a bit pricey in terms of cost-performance, but it's recommended for when you want to enjoy a little bit of something delicious. Next time, I'll go to buy the cream puffs! Inside the shop, there are photos of character cakes like Anpanman and Pikachu displayed, and they can make custom cakes if you pre-order. Custom decorated cakes might be great for special events!

This is a cake shop with very beautiful cakes lined up. The exterior has an orange sign and beautiful gardening flowers as a landmark. The interior of the shop also has impressive orange walls and a scent of cakes in the air. I bought the one-day limited edition apple pie choux, which was introduced on TV. The pie was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a perfect balance of sweetness. The shop is open from 10:30 am to 5 pm and closed on Sundays.

I visited the shop just before dusk and was lucky to find the cake I was looking for! I got the last piece of Caramel Chiffon (limited to 10 per day)! The chiffon cake was soft and fluffy with a caramel color, topped with whipped cream and a slightly bitter caramel cream which was delicious. The cake is large so it can be shared by two people. The Tiramisu (limited to 10 per day) could be improved with a bit more bitterness, but overall it was well balanced. The fruit tart, generously topped with large grapes, strawberries, and other fruits, was also delicious with a good volume and priced in the 300 yen range. The fruits used were tasty! This shop stands out with its larger-sized cakes compared to the current trend of smaller cakes. They also offer baked goods. The shop is closed on Sundays and located near Hikarigaoka Park in Higashi-ku, Kitaku 21jo Higashi 2-chome. There is parking space available on the 1st floor of the apartment building where the shop is located. The road in front of the shop is a one-way street heading south.
