After a long time, I visited Umekouken Suehiro store ♬ It's an area I don't usually pass through, so maybe it's been over 5 years since my last visit? I had the Soy Sauce Ramen for 800 yen. It's a classic Asahikawa ramen with a double soup base that I've been familiar with for a long time, giving a sense of stability. It feels a bit lighter compared to other branches... maybe it's just my condition today? The soft and large chashu slices, with two pieces, were delicious. The crunchy menma is the usual one that makes you feel like you're at Umekouken (*^^*) I wonder why the name of the store is in katakana at the Suehiro store? If anyone knows, please tell me~ ♬ Thanks for the meal~(*´∀`)♪

"Umekoken" is now expanding overseas and the Umekoken Suehiro store is becoming independent. It has been open for over 30 years. The atmosphere inside the store is stylish and modern, with trendy wallpaper, displays, and pop music playing in the background. The owners, a couple, run the place. I decided to try their famous vegetable ramen, so I ordered the "Miso Vegetable Ramen" for 950 yen. It arrived in about 6-7 minutes. The ramen was filled with bean sprouts, cabbage, onions, bell peppers, carrots, and thick bamboo shoots. The soup was a double soup made with pork bones, chicken bones, dried fish, and kelp. It had the familiar Umekoken flavor. The miso added a sweet and spicy kick to the dish. The noodles were thin and firm. The owner mentioned that they wanted to attract a younger crowd by creating a stylish and trendy atmosphere in the store, which they have been doing for the past 3 years. Even though it's a ramen shop, they are aiming to appeal to a wider audience. The name on the ramen bowl is now written as "Baikouken Suehiro" in katakana, reflecting the new image of the store. With its fashionable interior and delicious ramen, Umekoken is sure to gain even more fans in the future!

"Umekouken Suehiro Branch" in Asahikawa, I'm alone. "Absolutely do not go anywhere." "Okay, okay." "Stay still on the weekend." "I know." "You'll be here tomorrow, right?" "Of course!" "Mom also told me not to go anywhere." Oh, so persistent. If you're going to say that, I'll go out. Everyone is asleep, so I came out. I had ramen for lunch, and when I went to the first place, it said "coming back soon." Are they closed? I wrote down another place to try, but it was far away. When I searched for a closer place, it said "closed for a while." Darn it, because of COVID. It became a hassle, so I ended up going to "Umekouken" nearby. Even though it's Umekouken, there are no customers. There is a counter, maybe a couple? I sat in the wrong spot, facing the front. I can't take pictures. There are also table seats. There is a TV showing TV Tokyo. They like to exploit people. I ordered the salt ramen for 800 yen, because it's Umekouken. Is this price standard now? It's pathetic. They have one customer and two staff members. It feels uncomfortable to be outnumbered. What a situation. Should I wait in the car? There's no such ramen shop. I look at the small TV, but I have to move my whole body to see it. I have to watch a program I don't want to watch. I'm surprised by how long I have to wait. Are they checking the boiling water? Are they checking the soup? What's going on? They are not prepared at all. They spend more than 10 minutes on one customer. It's a waste of time. It took more than 12 minutes. They finally bring the bowl to the counter. The bowl is hot. They could have just placed it in front of me since there are only two staff members and no customers. The appearance looks like Asahikawa salt ramen. The noodles are thin and low in water content, homemade noodles. The green onions and menma are seasoned with soy sauce, quite strong in flavor. The chashu is large and thick, two pieces for 50 yen. I can't finish one piece. The soup is light and tasty when eaten as ramen, but not satisfying when drunk alone. However, the umami and richness come through. It's a delicious ramen.

I had soy sauce ramen at Umekouken Sapporo store located at 4-1-21, Asahikawa City, Suehiro Higashi 1-jo (800 yen). The ramen had a special New Year's version with plum design naruto topping, which is not usually included. Additionally, it had thick menma and three thick slices of chashu with green onions. This was my sixth visit to Umekouken Sapporo store since June 2016. The parking situation has improved with the neighboring building being removed, making it easier to use the parking lot on the left side of the store. In terms of COVID-19 measures, there were alcohol disinfectants available at both counter and table seats, and customers were reminded to sanitize their hands upon seating. Masks were also required. The menu has seen a price increase since my last visit in June 2016, with items such as soy sauce ramen priced at 800 yen. The ramen featured homemade low-water content Asahikawa noodles, thick menma, and substantial chashu slices. Umekouken is known for its unique characteristics as a non-chain store, with various branches in Asahikawa city. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

We went to Umekouken Matsubiro branch with my daughter. My daughter had the miso chashu ramen, which came with six large slices of chashu. I had the miso ramen, which had bean sprouts and minced meat, and was quite filling. The noodles were thin but there was a generous amount. It was my first time having miso ramen in a while, and I enjoyed the slightly spicy soup. The owners of the restaurant seemed to be around my age, and they were a very nice couple!

I ordered soy sauce ramen (800 yen). The color was miso-like with a soy sauce flavor, fresh and familiar to Asahikawa. The noodles were original? They were poorly cooked, thin and powdery, hard and became powdery in the mouth. If you're going to use unique noodles, handle them properly. The menma was large! Lots of green onions! Satisfied with 2 slices of chashu! The manager asked me to "leave the front door slightly open," but when I closed it, I felt slightly annoyed that he didn't tell other customers. Please don't make customers worry about things other than the taste. It was pretty tasty, but I won't go back to a restaurant that makes rude customers worry.

Today's lunch was ramen again. I tried the Shoyu Chashu Ramen at Umekouken. It came with six large slices of chashu. The homemade noodles matched well with the soup. The chashu was tender and delicious.

This is one of the popular long-standing Asahikawa ramen shops. There are a lot more branches now compared to the past. The Suehiro branch has increased its parking lot, making it easier to access. I ordered the soy sauce vegetable ramen that I always used to eat. It's been about 10 years since I last had it, but... wow, was it always this piled high with vegetables? I was a bit surprised by the unexpected volume. My companion ordered the soy sauce vegetable with extra pork slices. The noodles are completely hidden by the pork slices. The soup has that classic Asahikawa ramen taste, very stable. It's easy to eat with no strong flavors. The noodles are low in water content, giving them a slightly chewy texture that's nice. It's more of a hearty, slurping experience. Oh boy, I'm completely full from lunch. It's been a while, but it was really delicious.

Delicious ramen! I visited Umekouken during my hometown visit. This time, I chose the Suehiro branch because it's close to my parents' house. I went after 1:00 pm to avoid the lunch rush. The parking lot was spacious and I found a spot easily. The restaurant was busy with about three families dining. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 700 yen without hesitation. It arrived in about 7 minutes. First, I tried the soup which was rich and flavorful, bringing back nostalgic memories. The curly noodles were my favorite type! I enjoyed the two generous slices of char siu. The char siu was firm and satisfying. The chashu was large and tender. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, which is important for dining establishments. It was a familiar and comforting taste! I will definitely come back to eat here when I visit my hometown again.

Visit date March 26th (Tuesday) Today I worked in Suehiro area! This month has been very busy, and document creation has been delayed. My neck and shoulders are very stiff, so I finally decided to go for acupuncture treatment. The confirmation work at the site office is progressing smoothly, and I left early at 11:30! I wanted to go somewhere, but the parking lot was full so I had to give up. After driving around, I finally arrived here. I almost became a lunch refugee. I had never been to Umekouken before. The parking lot next to the restaurant had been expanded. Upon entering, the restaurant was almost full. I ordered miso ramen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The soup had a slight pork bone smell, which I'm not particularly fond of. However, as I continued eating, it didn't bother me as much. There were plenty of bean sprouts and thick bamboo shoots. The noodles were homemade and delicious. Another delicious lunch today. Thank you.

I haven't had the opportunity to eat out much since my two children became independent, so it's been a while (about two and a half years?) since my last review. It was a rare day off that coincided with my wife's, so we decided to go out for lunch a little later than usual. When I asked my wife where she wanted to eat, she left it up to me, so I suggested ramen. We ended up at a ramen shop near the intersection of R40 and the circular route, which we hadn't visited in a while. Luckily, we found a parking space right in front of the shop. The shop had four seats at the counter and a table for three. We were lucky to get seats at the counter. My wife usually prefers miso ramen, but this time, she asked me for a recommendation. I pointed to the soy sauce ramen on the menu, which had a slightly higher price but was still reasonable at 700 yen. We placed our order, and the ramen-making process began immediately. The noodles were cooked, the soup was poured, and the toppings were added efficiently. The ramen was served promptly, and we dug in. It was the "shio ramen" from Umekoken Suihodai, and it was as delicious as ever. The milky tonkotsu soup had a hint of seaweed aroma, and the thick noodles were firm and well-seasoned. The green onions added a nice crunch, and the chashu pork was tender and flavorful. Despite the price increase since my last visit, the quality and taste were still top-notch. After finishing my bowl, I glanced at my wife's empty bowl and silently celebrated. Thank you to the shop owner and his wife for the delicious meal. Taste is subjective, but for me, it was a satisfying experience.

I'm happy with the abundance of vegetables. Personally, I found the soup to be a bit bland.

Every year, I stop by here when I visit my parents' house at the end of the year. This year, I came a little early to say hello before the year-end rush. Since it's a repeat visit, I'll just take photos this time. The soy sauce here is really delicious.

I've eaten at Umekouken many times and it's delicious. The slightly sweet soup is a bit of a concern, but personally I prefer salty soup. It may raise my blood pressure, but oh well, high blood pressure for tasty ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Asahikawa Ramen Seitoh-ya after a long time. The soup is flavorful with a double soup base and the noodles are firm. The bamboo shoots are large but soft and delicious.

The soy sauce ramen in Asahikawa is classic. The balance of flavor and depth of the soy sauce is excellent, and the chashu is good too, but the menma is thick! The texture and flavor of the menma are just as delicious as the soy sauce soup and noodles.
