I chose this inn for the last overnight tour of the season. It's October, so the sun sets early, and if I were to go far, I would have to leave home quite early. Since it's already autumn, I prefer to ride leisurely and choose a relatively close place to arrive at the inn with plenty of time. I have stayed at this inn before, four years ago in October. The food was delicious, and I have fond memories of chatting with the shy male innkeeper, which is why I decided to visit again. When I first visited, I noticed a bolt missing from the rear brake hose on my way to the inn after having lunch in Nakasatsunai. I had to get the bolt installed at a dealer in Obihiro, causing me to arrive at the inn after dark, making it difficult to find. This was when I decided to buy a navigation system (lol). Despite the sun setting, I arrived at the inn while it was still bright outside. There were about four cars parked, indicating other guests. Upon entering, I saw that dinner preparation had already begun, even though it was only 5:10 pm. I signed the guestbook, indicating that it was my second visit, and borrowed sheets and pillowcases from the innkeeper, who informed me that all rooms were fully booked for the night. I was surprised to hear that it was fully booked, as I was the only guest during the same period four years ago, spending a pleasant evening chatting with the innkeeper. It seems that the inn has become popular since then. I quickly unpacked my belongings and headed to the bath. The bath here is a unit bath with a tub filled with hot water, allowing for a relaxing soak. After the bath, I prepared my bed and passed the time reading magazines in the living room. Both the male innkeeper and a female were busy preparing the meal. Four years ago, the innkeeper managed everything alone, but now it seemed like he had a helper. Perhaps he had gotten married. Feeling thirsty, I had a beer before the meal. Soon, the meal was ready. The food was served on large plates to be shared among the tables. The salad-like dish actually contained simmered chicken with black sesame sauce, which was delicious. The creamy mushroom pasta had a perfect flavor, and the bell pepper and bacon pizza was crispy and tasty. The tomato soup with beans, a specialty of Tokachi, was rich and flavorful. The potato butter, which everyone mistook for chestnuts, was made from small yellow potatoes called Inca no Mezame. Finally, the banana chiffon cake for dessert was also delicious. I enjoyed the elaborate and tasty dishes here after four years. After the meal, we had a pleasant conversation while drinking homemade fruit wine. Guests from both Hokkaido and other regions shared various stories and had a great time. In particular, three university students from Tokyo, who were traveling on a tight budget, seemed to enjoy the unique interactions among guests at Toho Inn, which they found different from regular hotels or inns. The next morning, I had breakfast at 7:30, which was simple yet delicious. Each of us left the inn according to our own schedule.
