"I was able to go to 'Ramen Yakiniku Yako' with my wife in Asahikawa. We were in Kitami and were planning to head to a sports festival, but then I got a message saying 'you don't need to come.' Unfortunately, I won't be able to see the sports festival this year. It was postponed to the next day, but I have a golf appointment, so it's impossible for me to go. If the golf gets canceled due to rain, then I can go, but if it's raining enough to cancel golf, then the sports festival won't happen either. When I told my wife that I wanted to eat ramen, she asked, 'The one in Hokkaido?' When I said 'Asahikawa,' she got really excited and asked, 'Asahikawa~??' in a high-pitched voice I've never heard before. I didn't expect this reaction, but it was as I imagined. I drove us to Asahikawa, and my wife chose the ramen shop quickly. The place had a counter and a raised seating area. As soon as we opened the door, we were directed to the raised seating area. The way it was said was cold, but it was a kind way of saying that it's okay to sit there. I don't really understand, but it's like Koyonaku-san's style. There were four seats at the counter, and four tables in the raised seating area. Another solo customer came to the raised seating area. There was a TV for the lady, and the volume was high. Even with the loud TV, we could hear the voices of the two older men at the counter. The counter had a young man waiting for orders. We already knew what we wanted to order. I chose soy sauce ramen, and my wife chose miso ramen. The two older men ordered ramen and started slurping as soon as they finished eating. After eating, they left. The soy sauce ramen was 600 yen, and the miso ramen was 700 yen. According to my wife, 'the salt ramen is the top menu,' but 'it's not that delicious according to reviews.' It was the third menu item, and the information was vague. When the ramen arrived, it was different from what my wife had described. It was delicious. The noodles were from Kato, and they were tasty. After finishing the noodles, we were ready to leave. The miso ramen had a strong garlic flavor. The Asahikawa noodles didn't seem to match the miso flavor, but it was delicious. The soup was tasty, and the vegetables added a nice crunch. The vegetables seemed to lower the temperature of the soup. The menma had a slight flavor, like store-bought. The chashu had a nice texture, and it was served without any visible fat. My wife also enjoyed the miso ramen and rated it 4.0, considering the price. I usually go for soy sauce ramen, but if I had to consider the price, I'd go for the miso ramen. The soy sauce ramen was not bad, but the miso ramen was better. My wife also felt that the miso ramen was delicious. It was an unusual 4.0 rating from her. The softness of the noodles was noticeable, but overall, it was a good experience."

Ramen Yakiniku Yatsu-san It's been a while since I visited. The atmosphere is like being at grandma's house. You can smoke iQOS. The Shoyu Ramen is 600 yen, which feels cheap. It's a light Shoyu broth with curly noodles, easy to eat. It might be even tastier when eaten with yakiniku. It's hard to tell the difference between the staff and customers, everyone is friendly. The person who brought water started eating at the counter. It's a fun restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I had decided to eat curry at a soba restaurant. I had tried their curry recently and became hooked on the taste. I wondered how curry at other restaurants would compare. But when I arrived, the restaurant was unexpectedly closed for the day. It seemed like fate was against me. I ended up wandering around the neighborhood and stumbled upon a place that seemed to offer ramen, yakiniku, and tofu. I decided to give it a try since I didn't feel like searching for another place. As I entered, I realized it was not "yatsu" but "yakko" - a small mistake in pronunciation. The restaurant was set up like a beach house, with families enjoying yakiniku right in front of me. I wasn't sure what to do, but I noticed there was a counter where I could sit. The atmosphere was not particularly clean, and it was quite hot inside. A fan was running, trying to cool things down. I sat in front of the fan, but it blocked the airflow to the yakiniku family, so I had to move. I ordered a soy sauce ramen and a small portion of rice. The price was 600 yen for the ramen and 150 yen for the rice. The ramen was served by a lady who seemed to be cooking. I couldn't tell if she was a customer or a staff member. An older man was sitting at the counter, eating something while watching TV. It was unclear whether he was a customer or taking a break to eat. The table was a bit greasy, and the whole place felt quite warm. The ramen arrived with plenty of menma (bamboo shoots), green onions, and chashu (roast pork). The menma looked like wontons due to the lighting. I couldn't help but wonder if the soy sauce was okay in this heat. I cautiously took a sip of the soup - it was light and had a traditional Japanese flavor. The dashi broth was well made, and the curly noodles had a good chew to them. The combination of flavors was simple but satisfying. The chashu was a bit dry and lacked depth in flavor. I tried eating the rice with the ramen, but it felt a bit bland. Mixing them separately in my mouth seemed to enhance the flavors better. Overall, the ramen had a nostalgic taste, reminiscent of old-fashioned ramen shops. It may not have been bold or punchy, but it had a comforting and familiar taste. It would be a good way to finish off a meal after having rich and heavy yakiniku. As I finished my meal, the family who had been enjoying yakiniku and ramen left. However, their son, wearing a Tama running shirt, spent a long time in the restroom. When he finally came out, his mother went in next. I couldn't help but find the whole experience quite mysterious and intriguing.

A restaurant in a residential area in Suehiro, Asahikawa City, serving both yakiniku and ramen. When I visited, there was only one mother managing the place. It was around 6 pm and there were no other customers at that time, but there was a phone call from someone interested in coming for the yakiniku. I was tempted by the yakiniku, but I wanted to have beer with it, which was not possible since I was driving. So, I opted for the ramen. Looking at the menu, the "shoyu" and "shio" ramen were priced at 600 yen, while the "miso" was 700 yen, which was very reasonable. I decided to go for the "shoyu chashu" (800 yen) as the price difference for adding chashu was only 200 yen. The ramen was served in about 7-8 minutes. The shoyu chashu ramen had a nostalgic taste, with a pork bone-based soup. The noodles were thin and low in water content, similar to Katō Ramen, and they paired well with the delicious soup. The chashu was thickly sliced, with 5 pieces of thigh chashu. It seemed like they cut the chashu after receiving the order, and I was surprised that they served such thick slices at this price. The menma was salt-free, and there was a generous amount of green onions. It had the feel of traditional Asahikawa ramen. I was really surprised by the fact that such delicious ramen could be found in a place like this, judging from the appearance of the restaurant. I have been to several ramen shops in Asahikawa, but I think this place is a hidden gem!

I finally visited a restaurant that was highly recommended by locals. The atmosphere was peaceful, with an elderly couple running the place and engaging in simple conversations. The husband who served us was incredibly kind. The soy sauce vegetable ramen was delicious, with a wide variety of vegetables and a flavorful soup. Overall, it was a charming and delicious ramen shop that I would love to support quietly in the future.

Today, it's another day with temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius... A friend who is in Obihiro mentioned that they like the ramen at this place. The entrance is a bit hard to find, you might pass it on the main street and have to go around in a circle. It's not clear if the main focus is on grilled meat or ramen here. The menu has ramen and rice dishes on the top row, and grilled meat, drinks on the bottom row. I decided to order the Shoyu Ramen. It arrived in about 5 minutes. That was fast! The appearance is very typical of ramen, with clear soup shining with oil on top. The soup itself has a nostalgic taste, simple but with a sharp and rich shoyu flavor. The menma had been soaked to remove excess saltiness, and the chashu made from chicken thigh had a good texture and mild flavor. The noodles were thin and curly with a low water content, perfectly matching the soup. Overall, it was a well-balanced and high-quality ramen. And at 600 yen, the price is quite reasonable.

Miso Vegetable Ramen - 850 yen For today's lunch, I had ramen at Yakiniku Yatou. This restaurant also serves delicious grilled meat and offal dishes. The ramen I had was a flavorful miso ramen with plenty of vegetables. It's a charming and inviting restaurant.

"I heard from a friend that 'Yakko' is a yakiniku restaurant, but their ramen is delicious!" I decided to check it out. It's located in Asahikawa City, Suehiro 1-4-cho, you can find the map here: https://goo.gl/maps/ze5Wi8eqjrsx7Vzx7. They are open from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 22:00, closed on Sundays and Mondays. They have parking and smoking is allowed. The location is quite hard to find, but once you go there once, you'll remember. It's a small, old-fashioned place, but it seems to be popular. The interior was full of customers! There is a counter and some raised seating areas. The menu focuses more on ramen, despite being a yakiniku restaurant. The place is a bit hidden, but it's a gem once you find it. We ordered ramen, and it seems like many regulars come here for both ramen and yakiniku. The miso vegetable ramen was 850 yen, with a large rice for an additional 200 yen. The price is reasonable for a well-established ramen shop. The chopped chashu was a unique touch, making it easier to eat. It had a sweet and savory flavor, not too strong. Overall, it was delicious and I really enjoyed it. It's a hidden gem, and I'm glad to have found a new favorite ramen spot."

It was a nostalgic tasting shoyu ramen, but the soup was lukewarm possibly due to the cold chashu.

I have been a regular at this shop since my student days. My favorite is the spicy miso, even though it's not on the menu.

Visited for the first time in September 2018, after a few years since my last visit... Finally had the chance to try it out. The weather in Kamikawa region has cooled down, so it's ramen mode now. I'm going with my friend this time. The place is quite popular, with 4 customers already seated and 3 more coming in. The regulars are ordering beer and hormone (offal) since lunch time. I envy them! The menu includes "shoyu ramen" for 600 yen and "salt ramen" for 600 yen. It arrived in about 15 minutes. The taste is light, not too salty, but something seems missing. Maybe a double soup? It's a combination of pork bone and seafood, but both flavors seem lacking. The salt ramen is also on the lighter side and lacks depth. The noodles have a strong smell, which is a trademark of Katou Seimen, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish it (laughs). Maybe I'll try the side dishes at the hormone eatery next time. Looking forward to having hormone here at night!

Visited a restaurant that was recommended for its tasty ramen despite being known for its barbecue. The restaurant was hard to find, located in a somewhat obscure area. The interior was mostly sunken seating with a small counter. The kitchen was run by a mother figure, and the atmosphere didn't seem very promising at first. However, regular customers started to arrive, helping themselves to cups and ice. Most customers were ordering ramen, including a regular who ordered a secret menu item, the medium-spicy soy sauce ramen. The menu was missing the salted pork and charged extra for vegetables. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 600 yen, which was a good price. The mother awkwardly lifted the noodles with a strainer, but they were cooked perfectly. The noodles reminded me of the ones from Kato Ramen in Asahikawa, which is a good sign. The ramen came with pork shoulder chashu and salted bamboo shoots, both of good quality. I was impressed by the soup, a traditional Asahikawa style with a mix of pork and seafood. Overall, I was surprised by the quality of the ramen at a barbecue restaurant. This place is a hidden gem that serves authentic ramen alongside their main menu. It goes to show that there are still undiscovered great restaurants out there.

Visit date March 28th (Wednesday). I have been working in Suehiro area since yesterday. Yesterday, I had some errands to run and ended up eating something random. But today, I remembered a delicious meal I had about 6 years ago in this area, so I decided to revisit the place. I left the site a little before 12 o'clock and headed to the restaurant. The atmosphere of the place is just as nice as I remembered it. When I entered, there were already 2 groups of customers, 3 people in total. They seemed like regulars from the neighborhood. After I entered, more customers started coming in. Now, it's time to order. Since I enjoyed the miso ramen I had last time, I decided to go with miso vegetable ramen this time. Looking around at what others are ordering, there were 2 orders of salt ramen (maybe work-related customers), an order of shoyu ramen with vegetables and horumon, an order of small shoyu ramen with rice by an elderly couple, and a single order of shoyu ramen with firm noodles. The last two young men who came in suddenly ordered yakiniku! Truly a place that serves a variety of dishes. After about 10 minutes, my miso vegetable ramen arrived. I took a sip of the soup, and it was a bit different from what I remembered - a bit on the lighter side. The garlic was plentiful, and the balance of sweetness and acidity was just right. The noodles, made by Katou Seimen, were a bit too soft this time, and the draining might have been a bit rushed. But overall, it's supposed to be a delicious ramen, so next time, I'll make sure to ask for firm noodles. Another delicious lunch today. Thank you.

I had the spicy miso ramen (medium spicy) from the secret menu at the ramen and yakiniku restaurant "Yakko" in Asahikawa City, Suehiro 1-jo 4-chome (600 yen). The ramen had a simple Asahikawa style with green onions, menma, and chashu, covered in a spicy topping of chili peppers and chili oil. The spiciness level was asked by the lady if medium spicy was okay, so I chose that. The restaurant is located in a residential area but serves delicious ramen. This was my second visit. The menu includes salt ramen (600 yen), shoyu ramen (600 yen), miso ramen (700 yen), salt vegetable ramen (800 yen), shoyu vegetable ramen (800 yen), miso vegetable ramen (850 yen), with small ramen available at a discounted price. Other items include fried rice (650 yen), large rice (200 yen), small rice (150 yen), and yakiniku items such as beef sagari (900 yen), horumon (400 yen), beef kalbi (1,300 yen), beef tongue (950 yen), and Genghis Khan (550 yen). I tried the spicy miso based on a comment from a visitor last year, and this time I tried the spicy shoyu ramen. The noodles were the same high-quality ones from Kato Ramen, and the soup had a nice balance of spiciness and the delicious taste of shoyu. They also offer other secret menu items like spicy miso and spicy shoyu for the same price. A blogger shared this experience, and the full score was given to avoid being disrespectful to the restaurant.

Located in a residential area in Suehiro, this place is quite hard to find, so enjoy getting lost while finding it (laughs). Inside the restaurant, there is a gas stove for grilling meat on the table, making it look like a yakiniku restaurant. However, the menu is unbalanced with only 5 grilled meat dishes and 14 ramen options. I ordered the miso vegetable ramen, which has a rich miso soup that pairs perfectly with Asahikawa's unique low-water content noodles. A distinctive feature is the chunks of chashu pork mixed in with the vegetables. And at the end of the meal, when you use a ladle to search the bottom of the soup, you'll find those chashu chunks waiting for you. It feels like a bonus!

I had been curious about this place for a while and finally went there! I had forgotten about it, but then remembered when I saw kitadora's post. On this day, my daughter from Tomakomai had taken a 3-day holiday to come and visit. She doesn't drink, so she could drive (it's far from my parents' house). Plus, my second daughter loves ramen, so it was a perfect opportunity. We had made a reservation in advance. We arrived around 5:30 PM. There was a diner nearby that I had been to before (the ramen was decent). The staff were friendly - one man took our order and two women served us. We were there for the yakiniku and ramen. The yakiniku had a good variety, and the ramen was a first for us. My daughter wanted a normal size, but I insisted on a small size so she could finish the meat. If it's delicious, you can have a refill! The meat was served first, unseasoned. It looked good. Unfortunately, they used a gas stove, but let's cook it up. First, the beef kalbi - delicious with salt and the sauce was also tasty. The beef tongue, beef sagari, and horumon were all delicious with good meat quality. It was a bit of a contrast with the appearance of the restaurant and the taste was great. And it was so cheap! It would have been even better with charcoal... Now, onto the ramen! It looked good and tasted delicious. I ordered it with firm noodles, which was just right. I want to come back and try more of their ramen lineup. By the time we finished, about 80% of the seats were filled, so it seems like a popular spot with regulars. I wonder if they serve ramen for lunch too. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely visit again.

When I was taught by a senior colleague in the same industry, I happened to have a day off and was intrigued by the appearance of a shop I saw at that time, thinking "What's this place?!" and definitely decided to visit. I knew that taxi drivers and salarymen on their rounds often go to this shop during lunchtime. Yes, taxi drivers tend to pick good places for lunch, haha. Now, the first item on the menu is not soy sauce ramen or miso ramen, but salt ramen! So I decided to try the salt ramen! Usually, salt ramen tends to be overshadowed by the other flavors, but this one was so good that I wanted to eat it again soon. The soup had a refreshing taste unique to salt, with a rich flavor. And the best part was that the soup was piping hot from start to finish, so I could enjoy it while blowing on it. The shop itself, from its location to its appearance and interior, is quite local, but being able to eat such delicious ramen at a place like this is what makes Asahikawa special, I think.
