Dinner visit on a regular day. On the first day of a business trip to Hakodate, I was looking forward to enjoying fresh and delicious seafood, but my colleague said, "Today's dinner is yakiniku." My colleague had arrived in Hakodate a day earlier and had already eaten plenty of seafood. When I asked if it was going to be Genghis Khan (a local dish), my colleague said, "No, just regular yakiniku." I was not happy and insisted, "I came all the way to Hakodate, I want to eat squid!" Eventually, we decided to go to seafood izakaya A. However, when we tried to make a reservation at A, we found out that there had been a confirmed case of COVID-19, so we ended up going for the originally planned yakiniku dinner. By the time we arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm, I was quite hungry and just wanted to eat anything. We ordered the chef's special course for 4,378 yen, which included tongue, premium kalbi, premium loin, harami, kimchi, rice, and soup. The restaurant prides itself on buying a whole Japanese black beef and the marbling was excellent, making the meat incredibly delicious. The smokeless roaster on the second floor was also impressive, slowly bringing out the umami of the meat. The smokeless roaster not only eliminates smoke but also effectively sucks up splashes, which seemed like a great infection prevention measure in the COVID-19 era. We had beer, shochu, highball, and more, and by the end, the ratio of food to alcohol was about 6:4. Despite my initial disappointment, I ended up enjoying the meal and was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.
