While looking for a place to have dinner in Hakodate, I came across a restaurant that sells grilled meat bento boxes at a Hokkaido exhibition? I remembered that the bento was delicious, so I decided to give it a try! The restaurant turned out to be more ordinary than I had imagined, haha. I had seen it at various events, so I had assumed it would be a larger establishment. Since it was my first time, I opted for the chef's choice course and decided to add extra items if needed. The course included kalbi, loin, tongue, skirt steak, rice, miso soup, and kimchi. When the meat arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions - each person got three slices of each type of meat, and they were all delicious. The kalbi and skirt steak were particularly tasty. However, the barbecue sauce was soy sauce-based, which was a new taste for me and not really to my liking. I wonder if this is a characteristic of Hokkaido? I preferred eating the meat without the sauce. I didn't add any extra meat and instead opted for soup and cold noodles to fill up. The chef's choice course was quite cost-effective, in my opinion. If I visit Hakodate again, I would like to return to this restaurant. But before that, maybe I'll grab a bento box at the local exhibition again.

Dinner visit on a regular day. On the first day of a business trip to Hakodate, I was looking forward to enjoying fresh and delicious seafood, but my colleague said, "Today's dinner is yakiniku." My colleague had arrived in Hakodate a day earlier and had already eaten plenty of seafood. When I asked if it was going to be Genghis Khan (a local dish), my colleague said, "No, just regular yakiniku." I was not happy and insisted, "I came all the way to Hakodate, I want to eat squid!" Eventually, we decided to go to seafood izakaya A. However, when we tried to make a reservation at A, we found out that there had been a confirmed case of COVID-19, so we ended up going for the originally planned yakiniku dinner. By the time we arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm, I was quite hungry and just wanted to eat anything. We ordered the chef's special course for 4,378 yen, which included tongue, premium kalbi, premium loin, harami, kimchi, rice, and soup. The restaurant prides itself on buying a whole Japanese black beef and the marbling was excellent, making the meat incredibly delicious. The smokeless roaster on the second floor was also impressive, slowly bringing out the umami of the meat. The smokeless roaster not only eliminates smoke but also effectively sucks up splashes, which seemed like a great infection prevention measure in the COVID-19 era. We had beer, shochu, highball, and more, and by the end, the ratio of food to alcohol was about 6:4. Despite my initial disappointment, I ended up enjoying the meal and was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

If you want to have yakiniku in Hakodate on a regular night, this is the place to go. All rooms are private rooms, and I recommend the full course for 7900 yen. The menu included Aomori beef tongue, Sendai beef fillet, Sendai beef sirloin, Sendai beef rib loin, Aomori beef skirt meat, Aomori beef harami, namul and kimchi, Korean seaweed, and rice. The meat was delicious with a good balance of fat and flavor. It was a bit expensive at around 10,000 yen per person, but it was worth it for the quality. I had a great time enjoying delicious yakiniku in Hakodate. Thank you for the meal!

One day, I came across a bento box at a local station building event that looked delicious, so I bought it without much thought. It turned out to be from a shop called "Yakiniku Restaurant Bari-bari Saran" in my hometown of Hakodate. I wondered where this shop was located, and to my surprise, it was near Goryokaku, a place I always pass by when I visit my parents' house! I found out that it is a trendy yakiniku restaurant, and I definitely want to visit it next time I go back home. Currently, due to the COVID-19 situation in Hokkaido, unnecessary outings are being discouraged, but I hope things get better soon so I can support my hometown. The bento box I bought had luxurious sukiyaki-style meat and steak, and although I can't remember the exact price, it was around 1400 yen, which I thought was quite reasonable for such a lavish meal. The presentation was reminiscent of a fancy yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo, and the steak and sukiyaki meat were both delicious. I was impressed by the careful cooking, thickness, seasoning, and the addition of wasabi. The taste was elegant and refined, surpassing even the famous beef in the middle of the country. I was delighted to discover such a delicious restaurant in Hakodate!

A meal with an important person. I had tried their bento before, but it was my first time visiting the restaurant itself. We started with sashimi and kakuteki. The texture of the kakuteki was incredibly good. The meat was cut into different parts, showing attention to detail. I'm not a fan of liver, but I could eat it here. The most delicious for me was the kalbi. I prefer to eat it somewhat raw inside without cooking it too much. The fat content was just right, not too overpowering. The marbling was also good. We also ordered chijimi, which was also perfect. I took a photo before the important person arrived. It's a shame I couldn't take a picture of the meat.

I'm sorry. This is just one chef's personal opinion. The average score is 2.5. I am puzzled as to why everyone easily rates average taste or evaluation above 3. It seems like the average score is around 3.2. I tried various dishes in a course. In Hokkaido, a livestock-producing country, Korean barbecue... In Hokkaido, there is an image of being cheap because it is a direct production area, but it is expensive. The taste is lacking, and the cost performance is poor... Even if you are not in Hokkaido, can you eat this taste anywhere... For a high-end barbecue restaurant, both the appearance and interior are questionable. There were high expectations for Hokkaido, but apart from that, it is below average at 2.5. In terms of taste and cost performance, it is questionable... I heard the name at a product exhibition and thought it looked delicious, but it was a disappointment... I have heard that many low-rated shops in the local area are making a fortune by doing business all year round in the same group at product exhibitions, taking advantage of customers who know nothing and think it is delicious just because it is from Hokkaido. It was an "oh well" taste. This is just my personal opinion. I'm sorry.

I participated in a event at Marui Food Hall on the basement 1st floor of Kitasenju Marui. I bought a steak bento box that looked very delicious for dinner. The steak was cooked to a medium level, so I warmed it up slightly in the microwave to avoid it getting cold. The steak was thickly sliced, but very tender and delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly and complemented the taste of the steak even more. The steak bento box had no overpowering beefy taste and had a very good aftertaste. It was incredibly delicious, satisfying, and I left feeling very full.

To popular yakiniku restaurant in Hakodate. Reservation for private rooms is a must. They offer a wide variety of drinks, including bottle wines from around the world, beer, sake, shochu, etc. I went for a light makgeolli. The menu mainly focuses on yakiniku, but they also offer steak, shabu-shabu, and sukiyaki. They have options like premium and top-grade, with no regular options, which is interesting. The meat is fresh, thick, and visually appealing. The tongue, sagari, harami, premium loin, premium kalbi, fresh liver yakiniku, fresh heart yakiniku, assorted organ sashimi, stone bibimbap, cold noodles, yukkejang, chijimi, chapchae, namul. The fat content is amazing. I'm full and satisfied. It was delicious. Next time, I might try the shabu-shabu. Thank you for the meal.

I saw this restaurant on TV and decided to visit when I went to Hakodate. I made a reservation in advance and was guided to a private room at the back of the second floor. Maybe it was the best room since I made the reservation early? When I entered the room, the sauce was already set, but there were no other seasonings on the table. I thought it would be nice to have some sauce and seasonings available. The server quickly came to take our drink order, and I ordered a draft beer and oolong tea. I was the only one drinking beer, while my family ordered a large plate of assorted meats, three servings of wagyu kalbi, and a small portion of recommended liver (only for me). We also ordered a Saran salad and some lettuce. The Saran salad was mostly cabbage and seemed a bit expensive for what it was, but the dressing was tasty so I asked for more. We ended up ordering two more servings of wagyu kalbi. The meat was delicious, and we left feeling full, but overall, I thought the prices were a bit high.

After having yakiniku in Tachikawa, I was asked by my mom to get a yakiniku-style bento box. I found a shop called Saran from Hakodate at the underground floor of Isetan. It was the last one left! The bento box had a variety of meat, including steak on top. Even though I had yakiniku earlier, I still got a bit hungry when I got home. The meat was black wagyu A5 and it was really delicious. I want to go to Hakodate now! The bento box was so tasty.

The other day, there was a Hokkaido food fair in Nagoya Sakae, so I had to go! I chose the limited edition Saroma beef and Furano beef comparison bento, limited to 100 servings per day! It was my first time spending 3000 yen on a bento, but considering the transportation costs to Hokkaido, I thought it was worth it. The Saroma beef in the front of the photo was more like a steak than yakiniku! The moment I chewed it, the meaty aroma and exquisite texture hit me. It was tender, and the simple seasoning of salt and pepper brought out the true deliciousness of the meat! Delicious!! The Furano beef in the back of the photo was also amazing! It was thick and juicy. The sauce was not too strong, but not too light either, with a solid flavor. In addition to that, there were meat skewers and diced steak, so I enjoyed a total of 5 different meat dishes in one bento. I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

From October 20th (Thursday) to October 25th (Tuesday), the 36th Hokkaido Harvest Festival is being held at Ichibata Department Store in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. The W Steak Bento with beef and pork costs 1,050 yen. The bento is on the smaller side for the price. The pork is similar to loin with a sweet and savory sauce. The Canadian beef is closer to rib roast, a bit tough, but the sirloin with green onion salt sauce is tender and flavorful. The rice is a bit firm and crumbly, but the green onion salt flavor is recommended. The price is a bit high. On another day, a different bento was purchased with high praise for the sirloin part. The beef was more like a meaty soy sauce simmer than minced meat. The taste is good, but it would be nice to see better value for money.

Introducing the 3rd installment of the Hokkaido food fair at Izumi Kitashimaya! For dinner tonight, I had croquettes from Potato HOUSE and this beef bento box. The "Sirloin Steak Don" with wagyu beef costs 1491 yen and comes with two types of sauce, tare, and negi shio. The simple dish consists of about 6 slices of beef on rice, served with wasabi on the side, which really stimulates the appetite! While the tare sauce is popular, the negi shio looks delicious, so my husband and I each got one to share. The negi shio brings out the flavor of the meat more, but the tare sauce is juicier and tastier! However, I was told that microwaving the dish would make the meat tough, so maybe that's why it tasted a bit lackluster since we let it cool completely before eating. Even so, the quality of the meat is incomparable, but I must admit that the 500 yen yakiniku bowl I had for lunch the day before was more delicious. Perhaps there's no substitute for freshly made hot food, and maybe my unsophisticated palate prefers pork to wagyu beef! Dining at a restaurant must be a delightful experience with such high-quality meat. At food fairs, they are prepared and sold on the spot, so if possible, it's best to enjoy them while they're still warm. It was good meat, thank you for the meal!

When I was able to ignore the Hokkaido event at Isetan, I couldn't resist the food collection in the basement. I ended up buying the Sirloin Steak Don (salt) for 1,500 yen from the Hokkaido barbecue restaurant Baribari Saran, among others. Despite having a dinner appointment three hours later... I couldn't resist. The container is small but surprisingly heavy. The rice is packed tightly, topped with seaweed, sirloin steak, chopped green onions, and grated wasabi on the side. They told me to eat it cold, so I didn't heat it up in the microwave. The wasabi is quite spicy, even a small amount makes my eyes water! The meat is thick and slightly tough. I had a canker sore that day, so I couldn't chew it properly... The rice wasn't very tasty... that was disappointing. I might ask for a different rice variety or cooking method next time.

On December 23, 2009 (Wednesday), I went to the "Hokkaido Winter Taste Journey" event held at Ueno Matsuzakaya Department Store. I saw the flyer and decided to try the "Black Wagyu Sirloin Steak Bowl" because it looked delicious. It was a bit pricey at 1,890 yen and limited to 50 boxes, but I thought it was okay for a Christmas party. The neatly arranged steak looked appetizing. There were sweet and savory small pieces of meat with a sauce on the back of the steak. I was a bit worried about the slightly red part of the steak, but it was very tender and flavorful as I chewed. The sweet and savory small meat pieces were a perfect complement to the rice. I ended up running out of rice, so I cooked some retort rice at home and enjoyed it until the end. I indulged in a Christmas luxury and would love to buy it again if I have the chance.
