I went for lunch at a time when it's usually crowded. I chose the hamburger lunch with a Japanese-style sauce, which was juicy and refreshing with grated daikon and shiso leaves. I was interested in trying other menu items as well, so I would like to visit again.

I had lunch with my niece after a long time and chose the beef cutlet. I was torn between steak, but I was satisfied because I had been wanting to eat it for a while. It was rare inside and very tender and delicious. I forgot to take a picture, but I also had tiramisu and black tea as a set. As usual, it was crowded. We waited for about 30 minutes, but it worked out well because my niece was running late. I have a desire to eat shrimp fry someday (laughs).

I had been here for lunch a few times, but today I came for dinner. There was one couple dining before me, and no one after. This time I ordered the pork chop with pineapple. It arrived on a hot plate in 7-8 minutes, with grilled pineapple on top. Pineapple is said to tenderize the meat, and the thick pork chop was indeed tender. However, I was a bit disappointed as the ketchup flavor I was expecting seemed diluted by the pineapple. The broccoli and cauliflower sides were also lukewarm and sparse. To make matters worse, the couple dining before me was quite noisy, despite sitting at opposite ends of the restaurant. This visit was a bit of a letdown... Thank you for the meal, I will visit again.

I have been searching for a traditional Western-style restaurant to go to with drinks at night for a few years now. It was disappointing when Kitchen Hayasaka in Minamimachi closed down. So, I decided to have a solo lunch at Shikimigrill located by the Obihiro River. This place mainly serves steak dishes. It was moderately crowded during lunchtime on a weekday, but there was a small counter where I could comfortably dine alone. The interior gave off a cheap vibe with a sushi showcase that made me wonder if it used to be a sushi restaurant. However, it didn't bother me. The menu had a variety of interesting dishes, so I plan to come back next time to try them with some drinks. Today, I had the cheese hamburger for lunch. Thank you for the meal!

The state of emergency has been lifted and I was feeling hungry, so I decided to visit a restaurant that was having a special "Shihoro beef fair"! There were so many tempting menu options to choose from, but I ended up going for the rare "Shihoro beef sirloin steak" from the fair. Additionally, the course included a salad with homemade roast beef garnished with edible flowers, and a gentle corn soup. The steak was served in a generous portion and cooked rare, just the way I like it! The professional cooking skills really shined through in the rare doneness. It was delicious! I still have so many more dishes I want to try, so I definitely want to revisit this place!

On Sundays, I ordered the Holiday Lunch special (1837 yen) cooked to a medium doneness as recommended. It arrived in about 15 minutes. At first, I thought 200 grams was not much, but upon closer inspection, the steaks were stacked on top of each other, and I realized it was quite a generous portion. The surface of the steak was crispy, but the inside was juicy and tender as described in the menu. The gentle acidity of the steak sauce complemented it well. I really enjoyed it. The meat was juicy and slightly fatty, but the acidity of the sauce balanced out the richness. The deliciousness of the meat was enhanced compared to just being grilled, making it easy to enjoy with rice. I wished they offered rice refills. The salad included cabbage, carrots, onions, and sprouts, along with potato salad and sliced cucumbers. It wasn't overly fancy, but it left a good impression. This is a genuine Western-style restaurant with prices to match. I wonder how often they serve items like lobster or king prawn fry. When I visited before, it was part of a course meal, but the Holiday Lunch seems to be a standalone option. The restaurant is housed in a building that used to be a soba shop, so both the counter and table seating are limited, which is a drawback. The owner chef used to work at a restaurant in Shihoro Michi-no-Eki and started his career at a famous steakhouse in Obihiro. The experience from New Grill An, a restaurant I wasn't aware of, still influences his cooking today. One example is the "cleaning of the meat," where he removes excess fat and tendons himself. The steaks indeed had no unnecessary fat or tendons, making them tender and easy to eat. The restaurant is always packed, and it's understandable given the quality. However, it makes me wonder why they compromised on the small size of the restaurant... (ฅー̀ ̫ー́ฅ)

I had lunch at Shikimigrill on Sunday. The restaurant's parking lot was almost full, indicating its popularity. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. They had a Holiday Lunch special on Sundays for 1670 yen, which the staff recommended, so I ordered it. For dessert, you could choose between a drink or soft serve ice cream. While waiting, I noticed on the menu that they offered various cuts of beef such as Futurumemuroushi, Tokachi deer chase beef sirloin or rib roast, and Tokachi crossbred beef menu, but they were a bit pricey. The Holiday Lunch included 200g of US beef shoulder loin. The medium rare cooked lean meat was tender and slightly sweet, with hardly any gaminess. It felt like a lot of meat at 200g, but it was delicious and easy to eat. The coffee was exceptionally good too. When I left, I realized my down jacket had absorbed the smell of meat. I look forward to trying the Tokachi brand beef menu for dinner next time.

Today, I was initially torn between Japanese food and meat, but ended up choosing meat. I went to Shikimi Grill, a restaurant that I used to frequent during their days at the Shihoro Michi-no-Eki. It was my first visit since they opened their own place. The restaurant has 4 counter seats, 3 tables for 4 people, 1 table for 6 people, and a raised seating area. It was 11:30 am, with no other customers when I arrived, but 2 groups came in later. I always liked Shikemi-san's cooking, and I used to visit often during their time in Shihoro. My favorite dish used to be the turmeric curry with Tokachi mashed potatoes. Today, after a long time and at their new location, I decided to go with the meat. I ordered the beef cutlet lunch set for 1,420 yen (excluding tax) with a rare doneness. It arrived in about 7 minutes. The meat was about 1.5-2.0 centimeters thick, with a crispy coating on the outside and tender rare meat inside. It was delicious with a good amount of meat, around 200 grams, although I found the rice portion a bit small for me. Next time, I'll try either the Tokachi mashed potato curry or the beef stew. I'll definitely be back for more. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Beef steak lunch. It's crowded. It's full even though it's a weekday. Is it Shihoro beef? I feel like I had beef bowl the other day. And here it comes. Quite a volume. When you eat it, you can taste the lean meat, it has a chewy texture and a meaty flavor. Delicious. It's close to rare, so you can really taste the meat, even though it's warm until the end on the hot plate. But for 1300 yen, it's impressive, that's why it's crowded.

I visited Shikimiguriru for the first time! It's a meat restaurant, so I decided to stop by for lunch. It's quite popular in Obihiro. They had a daily special on the outdoor signboard - the chef's special Menchi Katsu with cheese for 980 yen (excluding tax). I arrived slightly after opening time and was the second customer. The interior of the restaurant was smaller than I expected, with a new staff member bringing me the menu. I took my time looking at it before ordering. The kitchen was not very visible, but I could hear female voices. There were a total of four staff members, with only one male chef. It was surprising to see so many staff members, even with a full house. After a 10-minute wait, the Menchi Katsu was served, cut in half. It was delicious, juicy with a decent amount of fat, and the cheese was stretchy. However, it was a bit tough and didn't mix well with the meat. I felt like something was missing, perhaps a soup on the side would have been nice. Overall, it was tasty, but I wished there was an additional dish. Originally, there was a soba restaurant that I loved at the place where a Western-style restaurant opened (Matsushita-san moved). I had been curious about it for a long time, but I always ended up deciding between soba or ramen for lunch...and eventually forgot about it. I remembered it today, January 3rd, only to find out that all the soba restaurants are closed on this day. By the way, I had ramen yesterday. So today, I wanted something other than ramen, especially after eating so much sashimi during the New Year's holidays. Sushi train is out of the question. If I miss today, when will I have the chance to come to Shikimi Grill for Western food again?! This is my first time having Western food in Obihiro!! I arrived early at 11:30, but the place was already almost full. I had to wait for a while (which is understandable). My husband ordered the Focaccia Set for ¥1300, and I ordered the Roast Beef Bowl for ¥1000. The restaurant was packed, with people even waiting in their cars. We had to wait quite a bit (which couldn't be helped). My husband's Focaccia Set included Tokachi beef red wine stew, roast beef, pork sausage, and vegetables. It looked really delicious!! He was happily munching on the Focaccia. I always think this, but no matter where we go, my husband's food always arrives first. Why does the person who eats faster always get their food first...? The situation was such that by the time I had eaten more than half of my food, his food still hadn't arrived. I was complaining, thinking it would come after I finished eating, and sure enough, it did. So, I felt like I had to eat quickly, and by the time I had eaten about half, I thought, "Hmm? How does it taste?" This Roast Beef Bowl is recommended for women. Men should probably avoid ordering it. To put it plainly, it's a salad bowl!! You have to finish off the abundant vegetables before you can get to the roast beef and rice!! Whether you like it or not, you end up eating a lot of appetizers first. For vegetable lovers, it's irresistible, but for those who were expecting the usual meat, egg yolk, and rice, they might be disappointed. After eating the roast beef, there were so many vegetables that the meatiness was lost, and it felt more like a salad bowl. It was delicious, healthy, and my body was probably happy after the New Year's holidays, but it was cold. I wanted something warm. That's my impression. If I go again, I'll probably order a hot steak or hamburger. But by the time I finished eating, and with my husband waiting patiently, I felt like this might be a place to come with my female friends...I initially thought of having soft serve ice cream for dessert, but due to the crowdedness, the strong desire to get out quickly overpowered, so I gave up this time. Considering it was January 3rd, it might not be possible to relax anywhere. If it were a normal day where I could relax, I think I could have enjoyed it more. It's a bit disappointing, but if I have the chance, I'll come again.

The Saga beef steak course, Men's Neapolitan, and beef cutlet were all delicious and satisfying. The restaurant had good COVID-19 prevention measures in place. I ordered some potato fries as a snack, but the dishes came out one after another, so it may not have been necessary. It seemed like they were preparing dishes in the order of customers entering, so it could take some time. Despite making a reservation, the restaurant was full of reserved guests and walk-ins. Many people had to give up and leave because it's a popular place. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied.
