In a minshuku in Minamikonuma, Hokkaido, the price for one night was 5200 yen (including tax and dinner). The information is from almost a year ago. The owners are locals who returned to the area and opened the minshuku, hence the name "U-turn." The room is a basic accommodation for workers, possibly built during the construction of the Shinkansen. The bath may not be a hot spring as the boiler was being repaired. The dinner was pre-made, so everything except the rice was cold. The soba was served without broth, to be poured over before eating. The rice, likely local Rantetsu rice, was delicious. The dinner for 5200 yen was a good deal, but it would be nice to have more local ingredients like leeks or seafood instead of expensive items like tuna or crab. The only fish served was a small red fish, including the tail.
