The Peach airplane, which had been shaking a lot, landed safely at Kushiro Airport. We rented a car and headed to Betsukai. We were talking about grabbing something to eat on the way, but surprisingly, there's not much in Hokkaido compared to what Kansai people imagine. After driving for a while, we came across this place with a nostalgic Showa-era drive-in atmosphere. It felt like a red Familia car was about to arrive, and actors like Takakura Ken, Tetsuya Takeda, and Kaori Momoi were going to step out. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, inside the restaurant there was a large aquarium with koi fish, a wood stove, and plenty of firewood along the parking lot fence. And there was a faint smell of cows (laughs). There were two other customers, a couple who also seemed to be on a journey. I ordered a set of miso ramen and mini pork bowl, my son got katsu ramen and gyoza, and my wife ordered miso ramen. The sign saying "Our noodles are handcrafted in-house" gave me hope. The miso ramen looked more like a casual diner's dish than something from a ramen shop. It was surprisingly simple and orthodox. The noodles were soft, and the soup was unexpectedly light. Being from Kansai, when we eat ramen in Sapporo or other places, it's usually too salty and makes us thirsty afterwards, but my wife from Kyushu thought it was a bit too bland. By the way, the meat in the mini pork bowl was a bit tough (laughs). On the first day of Reiwa era, we slurped our ramen in a relaxed manner while watching the scene of the current Emperor's enthronement and the koi fish. It was like being in a Showa-era atmosphere from two generations ago. Sometimes, it's nice to experience something like this, isn't it?

I have been passing by this restaurant for decades. I have never seen many cars parked in front of it. One day, I missed lunch in Kushiro and ended up in Nakachiyasubetsu. Finally, I decided to go in. I parked my car in the parking lot in front of the store and entered. The inside of the store was filled with the smell of a wood stove. It seemed to be run by an elderly couple. They didn't say "welcome." I sat at a table and looked at the menu. I ordered the "soy sauce ramen" (600 yen). There were no other customers. After waiting for 10 minutes, the ramen was served. They didn't say "thank you." The kitchen was lively with conversation, but the ramen soup smelled strange. I couldn't tell what kind of broth they used, but it smelled bad. I took a sip of the soup. It was salty. The broth was not flavorful, just salty. The noodles were homemade but overcooked and too soft, almost mushy. I tried the chashu pork. It was tasty. It looked dry, but it was not too salty, and it was tender with a rich meaty flavor. The toppings included green onions, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. Overall, it was mediocre. By the way, they didn't say thank you.
