On a weekday afternoon, I decided to head to Kushiro. I was looking for a new lunch spot and stumbled upon this place. It is located on the 2nd floor of Leaf Town Shinbashi, a mysterious building with a variety of shops, along Shinbashi Street off Route 53, across from IY Kushiro store. The shared parking lot can accommodate around 20-30 cars, but it feels unusually narrow due to its unique shape. It was just before 2 PM when I arrived, with about 6 groups of customers totaling around 16 people, and a few more groups arriving later. Despite it being a late lunch hour, the restaurant was bustling with mostly female customers. The spacious interior with 28 sunken kotatsu seats, 12 private rooms, and 48 chair seats exuded cleanliness, making it a valuable lunch spot for office ladies in the area. I came here because I heard they have a wide selection of lunch menu items and on Fridays, they offer beef tongue curry for 540 yen, which was the day I visited. The staff, although all young, provided attentive service unlike some national chain restaurants. Looking at the menu, I learned that the restaurant originally opened in Tsurui Village before expanding to Kushiro. They offer 18 choices of yakiniku set meals during lunch and 8 choices during dinner, which is quite appealing. Originally a Western-style restaurant, they also have a variety of Western dishes like hamburger steak and beef stew. They also serve Tanchou soft serve ice cream, an original product from Tsurui Village's dairy factory, adding to the variety of options. Despite the many temptations, I decided to go with the beef tongue curry since it was Friday. It arrived in about 5 minutes, with a simple-looking curry topped with a half-cooked egg. While it did contain beef tongue, the curry itself was not particularly distinctive, but considering the price, it was acceptable. The atmosphere of this place is really nice. Looking at their Facebook page, you can see that the staff seem to enjoy working there. They also host events regularly and have unique point cards to increase customer motivation and frequency, which may be why they have been loved by many for a long time. I would like to come back next time for the yakiniku. Thank you for the meal.
