Hualongge - It's been a while since I visited. The stir-fried wood ear mushroom with pork is delicious! The balance between the vegetables and pork is excellent. The mapo tofu with a hint of Sichuan pepper has a consistently good flavor. If you want to enjoy Chinese cuisine in a casual atmosphere, I recommend this place. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, it was a golf year-end party. It was a quiet event with only senior colleagues who I always play golf with. Last year's year-end party was canceled, but this year it was held privately, so it was better than last year. The venue was Haryuukaku. When I think of Haryuukaku, I remember. Fifteen years ago, when I came to Asahikawa, Hokkaido, I didn't know anyone. I went to see the Sanrokumatsuri festival, but I couldn't really get into the excitement and ended up taking fried chicken to go from Haryuukaku. I remember eating it alone in the house I was renting at the time. Spending 1000 yen on something was unthinkable back then. I remember it to this day like jumping off a cliff from a high place, justifying it as a festival and bringing it back. I have been to the second floor of the restaurant many times. But this was the first time I visited for a private event. Since everyone is into golf, we haven't been able to play for the past month, so it's been a while since we met. We can't go overseas to play golf during the snowy season since last year. We'll have to wait until the snow melts again. The spring roll banquet began, and dishes were served one after another. First, the spring rolls. Wait, fried food right off the bat!!! But who cares about the order as long as it's delicious! I love jellyfish, but I hardly ever eat it. Even when I go to a Chinese restaurant, it only comes out at banquets. But I like it. I eat it if it's there. It was delicious. "I hate this... I hate this," said Matsumoto. When I listened carefully, it turned out that he had quite a few likes and dislikes. But we don't usually have time to hear such stories when we're playing golf. So, this kind of time is important. Yusa arrived late and said, "I'm not good at this." I bought this every day when I was in Thailand, but I couldn't stand the smell and texture. But this time, I bravely tried it for the first time in over 15 years... And... it didn't smell. But I still don't like the slimy texture. The white-cut chicken called Pakuchi is a famous steamed chicken dish at Haryuukaku. It's been a while since I had steamed chicken, but it's still delicious. You eat it by wrapping it in leeks and dipping it in a special soy sauce. Many people order this dish for takeout. Shrimp chili is also one of my favorite dishes. But I hadn't eaten it in a long time. I realized that it had been a long time since I had eaten anything other than ramen at a Chinese restaurant. The sweet and spicy chili sauce... Shrimp chili is still delicious. The shrimp of this size is the best. The seats were far apart... There were a total of 14 people. But the seats were separated by 4, 5, 5 people. There's no helping it now, but this is the only way. So, the seating arrangement was done by lottery... Well, it doesn't really matter where you sit. The fried chicken at Haryuukaku is another recommended dish. They fry a large piece of bone-in chicken and serve it. It's juicy and delicious. If you go to Haryuukaku, you have to eat this dish. The salt and spice are quite salty and addictive. This is the fried chicken from Haryuukaku that I brought back alone 15 years ago. It cost about 1200 yen for 6 pieces at the time, but now it was written as 1540 yen. Stir-fried raw konjac... Normally, you almost never eat raw konjac as a meal... You hardly ever see it, right? I think I ate it once in the past. The overall taste was delicious. Scallops and oysters were also included, and the extract was very strong. So, I tried the raw konjac. It didn't have any odor, and it had a crunchy texture. But the image of raw konjac was so strong that I couldn't eat more than one piece. Grilled dumplings... Haryuukaku's dumplings are also delicious. When you think of Haryuukaku, this chicken karaage is another must-try dish. They fry a large piece of bone-in chicken and serve it. This dish is a must-have at Haryuukaku. I have no appetite and haven't eaten anything since last night. Even this morning and afternoon, I still don't feel hungry. At this rate, maybe just one meal a day is fine. I found a restaurant where I could use my Asahikawa Gochisou Ticket that I had in my wallet. I parked my car at the nearby 4.7 Palace parking lot. I ordered ramen and the highly rated fried dumplings based on reviews. The ramen arrived in about 8 minutes. The soup was clear. It seems that Asahikawa Chinese restaurants do not serve Asahikawa ramen as their basic dish. The ramen was not piping hot, but rather warm. It had a mild and unassuming flavor. The bamboo shoots were slightly crunchy without salt. The chashu seemed to be pork shoulder, slightly chewy with a hint of smell, but not bothersome. The noodles were not the typical low hydration Asahikawa style, but rather medium-thin curly noodles cooked slightly soft. About 3 minutes after the ramen arrived, the fried dumplings were served. There were 8 medium-sized dumplings with a nice crispy surface. The skin was chewy. The filling was extremely white, and the ginger flavor was strong and delicious. This type of dumpling was new to me, and I think it would also be tasty as boiled dumplings. The parking ticket service is available for food and drink purchases over 2000 yen. The parking fee was 150 yen for 30 minutes.

I haven't been to this place in a long time. I think the last time I went was for the sashimi about 10 years ago. Back then, I used to go quite often for late-night meals. But recently, I haven't been going out for meals late at night, and I haven't been visiting this place much either. In Asahikawa, there are not many Chinese restaurants open for business. Most of the places in town are ramen shops. When you mention Chinese food in Asahikawa, the name "Karyuukaku" immediately comes to mind. I remember buying takeout from here when I first came to Asahikawa and didn't know anyone. I wonder if they changed their menu when they renovated. It feels like it has been the same ever since. The prices are probably the same too. Since it's Karyuukaku, it's slightly more expensive than places closer to town. I started with Oolong tea, a must for Chinese food, right? There's even an all-you-can-drink option for those who like it. The table next to me was quite noisy with salarymen having a party. It must have been noisy when I came with a large group too. The spring rolls all had the restaurant's name on the plate. Probably so you don't forget where you got them from if you take them home for delivery. The spring rolls were fried well, crispy on the outside and hot inside. I don't remember ever having cold filling in the spring rolls from Karyuukaku. The taste was pretty good too. I wanted to finish with the five-flavor yakisoba, but it came out first. It's been a while since I've had this. The sauce was quite thick and gooey, with plenty of ingredients. The noodles were cooked just right, not too crispy. The flavor was salty, with Worcestershire sauce on the side. It reminded me of how you eat plate udon. The sauce went well with it too. The fried chicken was the restaurant's specialty. It's bone-in chicken fried to a crisp, with a strong spice flavor and a salty taste. The outside was crispy, the inside juicy, and very hot. But it was delicious. It's a bit pricey, with 3 pieces for 750 yen and 6 pieces for 1400 yen. I remember buying these for takeout back in the day when they were around 1200 yen for 6 pieces. I was broke at the time, so I remember feeling like I was jumping off the stage at Kiyomizu Temple when I paid for them. It was a festival, so I thought it was okay... and bought them. It's a nostalgic memory. The pan-fried dumplings were 700 yen. The menu says they have handmade skins. It seems like they haven't fixed that mistake, and maybe they don't even realize it. The skin was very chewy, and the filling was soft. The taste was different from other places, a unique pan-fried dumpling. They were quite large, so they had a satisfying bite. It had been years since I last had them, but they were delicious. They also have a spicy mapo noodles with chili pepper mixed into the noodles, which is another specialty. If you like spicy food, give it a try. Thank you for the meal.

I'm looking for delicious mapo tofu, but Chinese restaurants always serve too much for just one person. Today we are a group of 5 people! It's a good opportunity to visit a restaurant that one of our group members likes. The first floor is crowded, but luckily there is a second floor. We ordered: - Asahi draft beer for 550 yen - Mapo tofu for 1000 yen (we asked for extra spicy) - Shaoxing wine for 500 yen (warmed up with rock sugar) - Fried chicken (6 pieces) for 1400 yen - Kung Pao shrimp for 1300 yen - Eight treasure vegetables for 1200 yen The mapo tofu was spicier than expected and a bit salty, but the flavor was good. The fried chicken was huge and delicious. The Kung Pao shrimp tasted more like ketchup than chili. The eight treasure vegetables had a strong mushroom flavor. Chinese food always fills you up quickly! Let's go to the next restaurant next time.

The chicken karaage mapo donburi with a medium bottle of beer is not just elegant but also addictively delicious with its thick sweetness and spiciness. The town's Chinese fried rice is a must-try with its perfect blend of flavors and the addictive mapo sauce. The zangi has a perfect balance of saltiness and is thick and juicy, making it a satisfying choice. The generously sized bone-in chicken is juicy and flavorful. The affordability of this meal is truly impressive.

My boss recommended this restaurant, but it seems to be quite difficult to make a reservation for a party. - Service & Atmosphere: The vivid red color and Chinese-style details create a great atmosphere. The young staff who served us were not very efficient. - Food: I thought all the dishes were delicious, but they were quite heavy like typical Chinese cuisine. The chicken karaage was surprisingly large. I prefer crispy dumplings, but this restaurant serves chewy ones. - Overall: If you want to indulge in hearty Chinese cuisine, this place is just right in terms of atmosphere and food.

The locals recommended trying the Zangi here when visiting Asahikawa, so we ended up coming here for our second stop of the night. We started with a classic draft beer and the Zangi gencotsu otsu bone-in salt Zangi, which was delicious just as it is. There are different parts so the quality may vary a bit, but the bone-in Zangi has a strong umami flavor and is juicy inside. It goes really well with beer. It seems that the place is often full for the first stop, so coming a bit later is recommended. I see, that makes sense. Truly, I learned a lot from the locals. Thank you for the meal!

I had the impression that the Chinese food in Asahikawa was not of a high level. I casually went in alone to have Mapo Tofu Donburi and Karaage. The place was quite busy. The Mapo Tofu Donburi tasted a bit sweet at first, but I could also taste the flavor of doubanjiang and green onions, with plenty of minced meat, and it was really delicious. It was a good Mapo Tofu. The Karaage was fried very crispy. The pieces of chicken were quite large, but the crispy starch coating and the size of the chicken that stayed hot for a while matched well. It was a simple yet delicious Karaage, although the staff called it "Zangi," it was not Zangi but Karaage. I only had two dishes but they were delicious. As for the service, it was very family-like and friendly. A family-looking person was dining at the counter, chatting happily, and the owner was also chatting energetically. Their voices were so lively it almost hurt my ears. The place wasn't very spacious, and when I tried to get up to leave, the owner was so engrossed in conversation that he stood in the aisle without moving. He stood there so confidently, it was impressive. I was so captivated that I forgot to move forward. The staff seemed quiet when coming in and out, but the owner was very lively when talking to regular customers, showing a lot of care for them. The two dishes were very delicious, so I would like to visit again, but it's a shame that I don't have the opportunity.

I usually always get takeout, but decided to eat in for a change at a girls' night out. The dumplings are always chewy when I get takeout, but when eaten at the restaurant, they have a crispy sear which makes them even more delicious. The sliced chicken is tender and the sauce is mellow. I realized there is a difference between takeout and dining in! The mapo noodles were spicy and satisfying. I'm full and satisfied, thank you for the meal!

It seems like it's been a while since I last posted here. My motivation to write seems to fade if I only post about my regular lunch. I have a business trip coming up out of town after a few years, so I'm starting to write as a practice for that. I have work in Asahikawa the next morning, so I decided to stay overnight. A friend recommended a place near the center of Asahikawa (3-6 Street), so I decided to visit. It's located along a fairly large street, so it's easy to find on foot, but it might be a bit tricky to find nearby parking if you're driving. The restaurant has a long and narrow layout, with tatami seating on the second floor as well. Since I was alone, I chose a table on the first floor. Normally, Chinese restaurants are best enjoyed with multiple people ordering and sharing various dishes, but I had to go solo this time, so I ordered dumplings and mapo tofu. The menu was SAPPORO, but they served me a Sapporo beer. It felt somewhat political. The dumplings had a unique texture - the filling was a mix of meat and shrimp, similar to a soft shumai. The mapo tofu was a bit oily, and I felt like it would have been better with rice. It was a weekday night, so all the customers coming in and out were locals. I overheard conversations and it seemed like the restaurant has been around for about 40 years. It had a local Chinese restaurant vibe. Asahikawa is known for ramen, but I wanted to try something different this time.

Gyoza and fried chicken are still my go-to dishes, but yesterday I had soup noodles and they were delicious! The rich flavor of the soup at the Chinese restaurant is truly special! The noodles were light and healthy. Thank you for the meal! Gyoza and bone-in fried chicken are the best choices at this restaurant. I usually use this place for takeout gifts. Of course, freshly made food is the best, but eating at the restaurant allows you to try a variety of dishes. I think Chinese food is more enjoyable when shared with a large group of people, so I often use it as a snack for home drinking parties. When I order in advance, they prepare the food for me. The gyoza has a chewy skin with plenty of garlic, and the fried chicken is salty but goes well with beer.

After leaving Doku Shu Sanshiro, I was in a state of almost complete memory loss... or rather, a state of drunkenness (I think). The alcohol had started to hit me, but a fierce drowsiness also struck. Furthermore, the intense cold made me not want to do anything. I was so sleepy... but if I slept here, I would definitely get lost (even though I was in the city). So, I kept telling myself, "I mustn't sleep, I mustn't sleep..." and continued walking on the snowy road in a half-unconscious state. It was dangerous, even if it wasn't winter. I no longer knew where I was heading. I aimed for the dazzling neon signs in the distance, letting my instincts guide me. The images of women beyond the neon signs flickered like hallucinations... Wait, is this Sanroku? Suddenly, I found myself lost in a dazzling world. Neon lights shone like a utopia in a hallucination. In the flood of neon signs, even though I had already eaten and drunk a lot, for some reason, another part of me that craved "a light drink and a dish" appeared. It seemed that my appetite never slept. In this situation, this restaurant caught my eye. I remembered that this was a place where the dumplings were delicious. And so, in my hazy consciousness, blurred by intoxication and drowsiness, the equation "a light drink and a dish" = "Shaoxing wine & dumplings" was established in an instant... I think. Now... I relied on the recorded photos and the somehow remaining notes. I had Shaoxing wine in hot sake. The Shaoxing wine came with rock sugar instead of granulated sugar? (This is also from the photos) I have no memory of whether I added the rock sugar or not. The dumplings had a chewy skin that was delicious. The slightly thick skin locked in the flavor. There was also a special sauce for the dumplings. (This was the only thing noted. Whether I used it or not... is unclear) In this way, I enjoyed the chewy dumplings. (It seems so). I have no idea where my footsteps led me afterwards. I truly marveled at how I managed to make it back to the hotel alive and decided to call it a night.

I was taken to this restaurant by a colleague. The atmosphere was like a "popular Chinese" place, reminiscent of similar restaurants in Gotanda. Looking at the menu, the top recommendations were steamed chicken, gyoza, and fried chicken, labeled as "recommended" items. We ordered the recommended three items, as well as soup noodles, mapo tofu, and mixed fried rice. The steamed chicken was average, while the fried chicken was a huge piece, juicy inside. Among the three, I particularly liked the gyoza. The thick skin wrapped around a filling with a strong ginger flavor was quite satisfying. The soup noodles were a bit disappointing, overcooked and the soup too light. The mapo tofu had a nice fragrance of Sichuan peppercorns, not too spicy, which I enjoyed. Interestingly, when we poured the mapo tofu over the fried rice, it became an excellent combination! Overall, I would rate it 3 stars, but with the excellent combination at the end, I'll bump it up to 3.5 stars.

When I realized it, it was time for the second round of year-end party... What happened to the first round article!? I went to "Karyuukaku" for this one. You like their dumplings, right? You like their fried chicken, right? I had chicken and jellyfish appetizers, and dumplings after a long time. The dumplings seemed different, but I can't quite put my finger on what changed. I still prefer the ones with chewy skin. And of course, I love their fried chicken. The size is impressive, and bone-in fried chicken is rare these days. It was delicious. The soft shell of the soft-shell crab with a chili sauce-like flavor was irresistible. The shrimp in the shrimp mayo was plump, and the burnt rice was also delicious. Even though everyone was already full, we had sweet and sour pork, beef noodles, and sweet potatoes. Finally, it's over. Did someone say it was a big eater's year-end party? I think I'm the only big eater among the members. We agreed to share two pieces per person, but that was only in the beginning. Later on, everyone was full and sharing generously. It's been a while since I felt like I was "defeated" at a party. Karyuukaku, you're amazing.

In rural areas like Asahikawa, the options for late-night food are limited, even if you have a car. Ramen, a certain chain's dumplings, soba, fast food chains like beef bowls, hamburgers, and curry are pretty much the extent of it. Izakayas can be pricey. After 12 o'clock, your choices are limited, and you might end up sadly settling for a convenience store bento. That's why having Chinese food as an option is a big help. This place is a Chinese restaurant in Sanroku Street that stays open late into the night. It's not a place for a calm meal or dinner; it's where you go for a late-night snack. The majority of customers are people coming back from drinking parties. If you're alone, you'll be seated on the first floor, and if you're with a group, you'll be taken to the second floor. I ordered the classic dumplings, fried chicken, and since I felt like having fried noodles, I got that too. The dumplings, which I hadn't had in a while, had a chewy skin and a filling that I couldn't quite identify, but it was white-ish. I just gobbled them up. Next came the fried noodles, which had a nice texture and packed with flavor when you chewed on them. Then came the fried chicken, piping hot. I waited a bit, but it was still hot. Maybe because they were extra-large? Be careful of the bones as you eat. Inside the crispy coating was juicy chicken. When you take a big bite, it really hits you, no joke. Finally, I had the fried noodles as a finisher. Both the noodles and the soup were salty. Overall, it was a light saltiness. It felt like a lot for two people, but surprisingly, we managed to finish it all. This place is not for those seeking elegance or sophistication. It's not the place to expect much from a drinking party. It's more of a place for a pre-drinks gathering or a late-night snack.
