A café that used to operate in Bansho, Taiju Town has relocated to the central area of Taiju Town and has transformed into a Japanese restaurant. Since they only operate during the evenings, I never had the chance to visit. However, I used to share updates about their relocation. Recently, they started serving lunch upon receiving requests from their former café customers. Intrigued, I decided to pay a visit. Upon entering, we were asked to take off our shoes and were led to a private room with a sunken kotatsu table that can accommodate 4-5 people. Although not listed on the menu, we were informed about the Sushi Lunch priced at 1100 yen and the Hamburger Plate priced at 1000 yen. The ambiance was accompanied by jazz music, and we could hear the voice of the owner in the background. After a slight wait of 17 minutes, our meals arrived - the Sushi Lunch for me and the Hamburger Plate for my companion. According to a local food column, the "Sushi Lunch" includes a variety of nigiri and bara sushi, as well as sashimi, served in a daily changing selection. On this particular day, it was a "nigiri" day, featuring tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, salmon, octopus, and two shrimp (both back and belly parts). The vinegar was mild, and the portions were small, suitable for light eaters. The appearance of the sushi was decent, and it came with a slightly sweet tamagoyaki. A salad was also included, which is always a nice touch for women. The miso soup served was delicious, containing clam and lily bulbs. The Hamburger Plate ordered by my companion came with a sunny-side-up egg on top, giving it a loco moco vibe perhaps. I had a bite and found the sauce to be similar to teriyaki. It may leave a slightly unsatisfied impression on men due to the portion size. The lunch service is available from 11:30 to 14:00, with Sundays and the 17th of December being regular holidays in December, and no lunch service on Mondays. In January, Mondays and the 4th Sunday are regular holidays, with no lunch service on Sundays. The restaurant also offers flower candles and barbarium decorations, as well as Polar Sets, as the female owner serves as an instructor and holds workshops by reservation. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, based on what I saw on Instagram, the Orenji Japanese bento box, which likely includes sashimi, tempura, and side dishes, seems to be popular. The miso soup was particularly delicious, and I enjoyed the lunch catered towards light eaters. Thank you for the meal!
