On the way back from Iso-no-yu, I stumbled upon this shop! It's called "Toretate" but I couldn't find anything freshly caught. They were out of their popular item, the "Shakotan Blue Soft" so I settled for the "Imagawayaki (red bean paste)" and an "Iced Coffee". The Imagawayaki had a sweet skin with sweet red bean paste inside, and it had the cute seal of Shakotan town's mascot character "Unidon". The Iced Coffee was different from the local blend they usually serve, but it was still a good balance of bitterness and acidity. It was tasty and easy to drink. I'll definitely come back during the peak fishing season to buy more delicious items. Thank you, "Shakotan Direct"!

On June 17, 2022 (Fri), during my early summer trip to Hokkaido, I visited the Michi-no-Eki "Shakotan Sanchoku Ichiba" in Shakotan Town, which just opened on April 23 this year. When I arrived after 5 pm, the store was quiet with no one inside. There was also a tourist information center for Shakotan Town, so I checked that first before moving to the retail section. They mainly sold souvenirs from local and nearby towns, which was great! I bought the following items:
- Whole dried Atka mackerel: 750 yen
- Shellfish strap: 460 yen
I had bought the whole dried Atka mackerel before in a nearby town and it was delicious, so I decided to get it here as well. The products at the local market were more affordable and of better quality compared to airport souvenir shops, so it's definitely worth checking out.
They were selling "Shakotan Blue" soft-serve ice cream next to the register, but since it was before dinner, I had to pass on it. As a fan of soft-serve ice cream, I really wanted to try it!
After paying, I asked for directions to Cape Ogon, one of the famous spots in Shakotan Town. I found out that there are 3 roads leading to Cape Ogon, but currently only one is open due to construction. I'm glad the staff kindly informed me about this, as I would have definitely gotten lost otherwise. Thanks to their help, I was able to enjoy the magnificent view from the observation deck at Cape Ogon. The hike to the observation deck was tougher than I expected, but it made the beer and dinner afterwards even more special.

During a rest stop on the way to Cape Kamui, I tried the Shakotan Blue soft serve ice cream. It had a very beautiful bright blue color and was said to be mint-flavored, but the taste was hard to describe.
