I found out that a new bakery had opened in the city and I couldn't wait to go there. It was said to be a bakery that focuses on natural yeast and locally sourced wheat, so my expectations were high! As a bread lover, I was eager to go as soon as possible. However, the bakery is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so I couldn't go right away. I tried to go the day after it opened, but there were so many cars that I had to give up. I searched on Tabelog and saw that some of my followers had already been there and mentioned that they also have hard bread. I like hard bread, but it's hard to find places that sell it in the city, so I was curious about this bakery that focuses on natural yeast and locally sourced wheat.
Finally, the day came when I could go, and I entered the bakery where only two customers were coming out. The interior of the store seemed to be part of a home, but it was clean and cozy, with stylish displays. I went around lunchtime and everything looked delicious, so I had a hard time deciding what to buy. I talked to the staff, asked for recommendations, and ended up buying several types of bread. I also bought a new product, the strawberry anpan, and a black soybean and cheese epi, among others.
Here are the items I purchased:
- Strawberry Anpan (new product) - 280 yen
- Salted Butter Roll - 160 yen
- Epi (black soybean cream cheese) - 300 yen
- Melange (hard bread dough) - 350 yen
- Orange Peko - 290 yen
I bought these five items. The prices seemed a bit high, but considering the use of natural yeast and locally sourced wheat, I thought it was justified. I had the epi for breakfast the next morning, and it had a firm crust, a soft interior with a perfect combination of soybean and cheese, and a chewy texture.
I had the strawberry anpan in the evening, and it had mochi inside, which I enjoyed. The bread dough also had a strawberry flavor, and the combination of strawberry and sweet red bean paste was delightful. The mochi made with joshinko (rice flour) was a bit hard the next day, but it still tasted great. I wanted to try other items, but I had already bought dinner on my way back from work, so I'll save them for tomorrow.
The bakery also has an Instagram and a website, but since I don't use Instagram, I checked out their website. The atmosphere in the store was bright, the staff were friendly, and since there were no other customers, I chatted with them a bit, and they allowed me to take photos of the products. The ingredients and expiration dates were clearly labeled on the back of each product, making it easy to understand.
The bakery is a bit hard to find on the map, but it's located near Jiyugaoka Park in Chitose City. If you're coming from the Development Bureau intersection and heading towards Gyomu Super, turn left before Gyomu Super towards Ebetsu, then continue straight and you'll see the park on your right. Turn right after passing the park, and you'll see a sign outside on opening days. There is parking space for two cars.
There were many delicious items to choose from, so I will definitely go back when I have a day off work that falls on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. They also have milk-free bread, and I don't remember seeing eggs listed in the ingredients of the other items. Bread lovers, be sure to check it out!
