In the area of Hidaka, many cake shops and cafes have been closing down one after another, and I was thinking that there is nowhere to buy cakes anymore. However, I was informed that a cake shop has opened in Hira-tori, so I decided to visit. It is run by a couple who are both around 60 years old, and although they operate on a small scale, they have accounts on Instagram and Twitter, which is impressive. They were not listed on Tabelog, but they were on Google Maps. They are closed on Wednesdays, and often have temporary closures on Thursdays for preparation, so it is advisable to avoid going on those days. I managed to arrive just before closing time at 5 pm. There were 4 seats at the counter, but it seemed like they were not offering eat-in service at the moment. They do not accept electronic money, but cards seem to be accepted. They also had baked goods, including cookies with Ainu patterns, which was quite impressive. Most of the cakes were already sold out, but there were a few left! The Shortcake and Strawberry Mousse were priced at 350 yen each. Other cakes were also mostly priced at 350 yen, which is quite cheap! The Chocolate Cake, Western Pear Tart, Chocolate and Haskap Berry Cake, and Blueberry Cake, as well as the Chocolate Mont Blanc, were all priced at 350 yen. The Strawberry Tart and Blueberry Tart were priced at 450 yen. The Shortcake had a mild milk flavor without the cream being too heavy, and it was delicious. The Mousse was made with "Suzuakane" strawberries, and the chocolate on top was also stylish. The sweet and sour mousse was tasty. I had imagined the mousse to be softer, but it was actually quite firm due to being set with gelatin, making it more jelly-like. This cake shop is a rare find in an area where sweets are disappearing. I would love to visit again. If only I had noticed earlier, I could have come to buy an apple pie in the fall...! Thank you for the delicious treats!
