In front of the town hall in Kumaishi, there is a retro sushi restaurant. The photo shows a Uni and Awabi bowl. It seems to be run by a chatty landlady and a head chef. When dining near Old Kumaishi, if Kaki Tamaya is closed, this place is recommended.

There is a restaurant located at the intersection near the former Kumaishi Town Hall along National Route 229. The menu was posted on the wall, with prices for different types of sushi: Ume for 1050 yen, Take for 1575 yen, Matsu for 1890 yen, and Tokujou for 2100 yen. I ordered the Tokujou for 2100 yen, which included toppings like fatty tuna, flounder, salmon, shrimp, sea urchin, flying fish roe, salmon roe, cured mackerel, crab, and ark shell. The fatty tuna, flounder, and sea urchin were delicious, but it was disappointing that abalone was not included. There was a talkative female owner as mentioned by a previous reviewer.

In front of the old Kumaishi Town Hall, there is a charming old-established store that catches your eye. In the past, people used to stop by for a drink after work. It must have been a somewhat glamorous time back then. I reviewed the restaurant Koubai before, it seems to be a branch. Now it has become a ramen shop. Now, this place is a sushi restaurant. There is a vintage gal who loves to chat and a silent head chef. It's inevitable for the head chef to be silent. Do you think a sushi restaurant by the fishing port has good ingredients? Sometimes having just one or three types of sushi can be excellent. That's local produce. But if they don't source from the local area, there are places that boast of getting fresh fish from Sapporo Central Market every day. As for insider tips, when it's in season and freshly caught, single items like a sea urchin bowl in late July at a sushi restaurant in Shakotan can be great. Are these freshly caught? Don't hesitate to ask. Here, of course, they serve big whole abalones. This is awesome!! It's half price in Sapporo. A conversation with the machine gun-like landlady at a nostalgic countryside old-established store was a soothing break from fishing fatigue. As for the sushi? Well, even if you ask, I'm not sure how to answer. Oh well, maybe you learned something. Hahaha.
