This is Saroma. My wife wanted to stop by a confectionery shop. According to the navigation, it should be very close to our current location, but I can't seem to find any building that looks like it. It turns out the building is undergoing renovations and covered with white sheets. The shop is called "Ogashi-shi Otsuki." The interior feels a bit dim probably because of the sheets covering it. My wife wanted to order a cheesecake, but they were sold out. They had the boxes, but not the actual cake. So, we decided to try the "Basque-style Cheesecake" for 1400 yen, which is a new product here and currently on sale for 200 yen off the regular price of 1600 yen. We went home and tried it right away. When you put the spoon in, it feels a bit firm and dense. It has a rich cheese flavor with a nice hint of nuttiness. It's a bit on the sweet side but very delicious. It's similar to Yatsugatake's "Basque," but you shouldn't compare them.

I'm in Saroma-cho at Otsuki confectionery. I have to go back soon, but there's a pastry shop here so I'll stop by. I rarely pass by during open hours, so Saroma is a road I take when going to Sapporo or Asahikawa, but it's always early in the morning or late on the way back. I knew there was a pastry shop here, but it's never been open when I passed by. When I went in, there were only a few types of cakes, mostly chocolate which I don't like, so I couldn't buy any. There was a pumpkin pie I wanted to buy, but the store was under renovation so I couldn't get it. I asked for three of the pumpkin pies. The elegant lady serving was very nice. There are also local snacks like rakugan available, it's a local pastry shop in town and I hope they keep going for a long time. I thought it was the famous pumpkin pie, but it's different, it's original, right? I don't like pie crust, but this one is more like a steamed bun, which I also don't like, but... I can eat it more than a traditional pie crust. The sweetness is moderate, so half is the right amount. I cut it in half and enjoyed it.

This is a review of a cow-shaped manju called "Moo-naka" from Saroma. It contains mochi inside. The reviewer gave it a perfect score, as they believe it is best to promote the shop.
