This was my first visit to a Chinese restaurant located on the outskirts of Hokuto City. Despite being close to the sea with a good view, the restaurant is located on the roadside. I had a set meal of salt ramen and dumplings. The ramen had old-fashioned soft noodles, and the dumplings were a unique type with a firm texture. Many people were taking dumplings to go.

When I visited, I found that this place is also run by a husband and wife. The lady running the place was kind and her kindness was reflected in the small fresh flowers placed by the window. The menu had a variety of noodle dishes, including different types of yakisoba. I decided to go for the tanmen, while my husband ordered noodles and a small fried rice. The tanmen was served piping hot and the noodles and toppings were just right. It felt like a place where locals come to eat.

During a training session, I visited this restaurant for lunch and after some deliberation, I ended up ordering the third item on the menu, which was the Wonton Noodle Soup with salt flavor. The first item was ramen, the second was wonton, and the third was wonton noodle soup, so I decided to go with that. The restaurant had a traditional Chinese feel to it. The soup and noodles were delicious, but the wontons seemed to have melted flour and didn't have a good texture. Perhaps it was because it was busy during lunchtime. I should have tried the ramen, which was the first item on the menu.

I used it for the first time to have lunch. There were no customers at first, so it didn't take long from ordering miso ramen to being ready. The miso ramen didn't have a distinctive taste, it was more of a general taste. The noodles were ordinary. The toppings were very simple, with only bean sprouts. I felt like it would be nice to have some chashu as well. The menu had a variety of Chinese dishes in addition to ramen.

I visited this restaurant about half a year ago and really liked it, so I decided to come back again. The restaurant is located facing the national highway, so it is easy to find. There are parking lots in front of the shop and to the right, but they may get full during busy lunch hours. I entered the bright and cozy interior and sat at a raised table. I ordered the Toya ramen, fried rice, and grilled dumplings that I had been curious about. The Toya ramen, with plenty of bean sprouts, had a light soy sauce flavor and a satisfying texture with the added sauce. The nostalgic taste with a hint of crispness made me want to finish the soup as well. Since I've been getting a bit conscious of my belly bulge, I restrained myself after drinking about half of it. The fried rice was well-seasoned with salt, but not overly salty, providing a pleasant texture. The dumplings looked like they were grilled firmly, but inside they were fluffy and moist. There are many restaurants these days that recreate the atmosphere of the Showa era, but not many that offer the nostalgic taste of that era. Isn't Yen Garden here one of those shops that provide such a nostalgic taste, often referred to as "unchanging taste"? For those who are tired of rich ramen, make sure to go on an empty stomach!

I used to eat the fried rice from this place at least once a week until I was in high school. I've always thought that if I ever became famous, I would recommend this fried rice as a nostalgic taste. To be honest, even though I've eaten a lot of different fried rice dishes, the standard for delicious fried rice is still this restaurant's! Well, I haven't actually been to this place since they moved to their current location haha. They also have other dishes like gyoza, Chinese fried rice, and Tianjin rice. My younger brother used to eat the ankake yakisoba all the time.
