The purpose of visiting Hokkaido was to watch professional wrestling. However, since I was only staying for a week, I also wanted to visit a museum! So, I searched for the Sapporo Beer Museum, but the guided tours with a fee were fully booked early on. I thought I could easily make a reservation if I did it a few days before, but I was wrong. It seems to be quite popular. I could have changed the date to a later one and tried to make a reservation again or wait for cancellations, but I decided to go for the free self-guided tour instead. The museum area that can be visited freely is not very large, and I finished seeing everything in about an hour. Still, it was interesting to see things like past logo marks, labels for overseas markets, and advertising posters that evoke different eras. Museums are really nice after all. At the end of the exhibition area, there was a staircase leading down to the beer hall. Despite it being a weekday, there was a long line... As I looked at the menu while observing the line, it was moving quite fast, so I decided to go for a drink. Since I didn't spend much time in the exhibition area, I wanted to take it a bit slower and enjoy myself. I bought a drink ticket from a vending machine and handed it to the counter. Although it was a beer hall, it is also a tourist spot, so there are non-alcoholic options for those who cannot drink alcohol. You can also try Hokkaido limited edition lemon juice (*^ω^*)⚫ Tasting set (800 yen) Three types of Sapporo beer with snacks for 800 yen. The amount was far beyond what I had imagined based on the price (°_°) Instead of small tasting glasses, you get a full glass for each of the three types. This was a lot more than I expected. This is a really good deal. The snack was a small bag of beans. After serious tasting, I ranked them in order of preference: Kaitakushi Beer, Sapporo Black Label, Sapporo Classic. I was a bit wary of the description "rich and solid taste," but when I tried it, it turned out to be my favorite. Despite being rich, it has a soft and mellow taste without a sharp edge. I thought I might not like it, but I ended up enjoying it the most. Black Label is easy to drink and I like it. I sometimes try to be cool by drinking it at izakayas or food stalls, but I found something even easier to drink! Sapporo Classic is somewhere between Black Label and Kaitakushi in terms of taste. The beans also go well with beer! It was a great experience visiting there (*>ω<*) If you like beer, you should definitely stop by! It was quite crowded even on weekdays, and if the timing is not right, you might end up using the standing counter... But maybe standing and drinking is cooler? (lol)
