Two middle-aged men's last banquet of 2022, called the "Chicken Hot Pot Course" at a popular udon restaurant. The restaurant is usually visited for lunch, but it was the first time at night. The place was almost full, probably because it was December. The unique interior and attentive service make this place stand out. We reserved the following course: Chicken Hot Pot Course: 4,000 yen * 2-hour all-you-can-drink & all-you-can-eat udon to finish! This night turned out to be a valuable experience where I gained 1.5 kilograms in just one day. The appetizer was warm edamame with salt sprinkled on top, which was a fantastic service. The course included: - Special salad - Grilled chicken thigh - Chicken tempura tartare - Steamed egg custard - Chicken hot pot with plenty of vegetables - All-you-can-eat udon - Yuzu sherbet The chicken dishes were of high quality, starting with the salad that was both stylish and beautiful. The spicy and rich sauce on the grilled chicken thigh, served with mayonnaise, was a delight for mayonnaise lovers. The chicken tempura tartare was incredibly delicious, with a crispy coating and juicy meat. The steamed egg custard was filled with ingredients like shrimp, chicken, and fish cake, all bursting with flavor. The highlight of the night was the chicken hot pot, served with a large amount of vegetables in a beautiful presentation. The broth was so delicious that we couldn't stop eating. The udon that followed was also beautifully presented and delicious. The thick noodles had a firm texture and were a perfect match for the flavorful broth. I indulged in multiple servings of udon, even turning it into a hot pot with the remaining hot pot ingredients. The meal ended with a refreshing yuzu sherbet. Despite knowing that I should eat less due to my age, I couldn't resist the temptation of the delicious food. The total cost for the food and drinks would have been around 4,000 yen just for the drinks if we had ordered them separately. Paying with PayPay was quick and easy. Thank you for the feast.

I used it for lunch on a regular day. I arrived after 1 pm and was able to enter without waiting. I ordered the chicken tempura udon, and it was very delicious! Compared to other udon restaurants, the noodles were quite firm, and the portion was quite large, so I was satisfied! The tempura was crispy and not soggy, so the texture was great!

I have been here several times, but this was my first time trying the cold bukkake udon. I decided to go all out and challenge the extra-large 800g portion. The noodles had an amazing firm texture, just as the reviews said. I enjoyed the noodles so much that I finished them in no time. Eating 800g was easy for me since I love udon. The tempura bamboo shoot was delicious too, so I've decided to order the extra-large portion next time. Thank you for the meal.

Curry cutlet rice bowl set meal (1000 yen) - I tried this for the first time after seeing the customer next to me enjoying it last time. The curry has a strong dashi flavor, similar to "The Curry Udon," and it has a thick consistency that goes well with the rice. The cutlet has a crispy texture with a juicy meaty taste, making it a perfect accompaniment to the rice. However, I personally felt that the cutlet had a relatively high amount of fat, so those who prefer lean meat might not enjoy it. The mini udon had thick noodles with a good chewy texture, which I personally liked. However, the udon plate provided was too long, making it difficult to share. I found the broth for the udon to be a bit light, so I preferred dipping it in cold soy sauce instead.

I visited this place after having curry at a nearby restaurant. The restaurant was already full even though it was lunchtime. The interior is spacious. I ordered a small serving of kake udon, but it was quite filling. The noodles had a great texture and were delicious. The condiments on the table were also clean. However, personally, I didn't like the broth very much. The noodles were thick and firm, so maybe it's better to consider the broth's richness. I would like to try it again with a different broth next time. Overall, it was very good.

I felt like eating cold udon on this day. I decided to visit this restaurant from the ones I had bookmarked. It was located a few minutes' walk from Exit 8 of Higobashi Station. There were no other customers yet, so I was the first one there. The interior of the restaurant mainly had tables, but there were also counter seats in the back. A large TV screen was showing a high school baseball game. Looking at the menu, there were many options available. I ordered the Chicken Tempura Set (890 yen including tax). I could choose between cold udon or zaru udon, so I went with cold udon. The chicken tempura was about the size of a fist! It was freshly fried and very juicy inside. Be careful as it is hot. The udon noodles were thick and chewy, providing a bouncy texture when bitten into. The bamboo ring tempura also had a nice chewy texture. Both the udon and tempura were quite filling, and I felt the value for money at 890 yen. After finishing the meal, I was quite full. Thank you for the meal!

I wasn't very hungry, so I came looking for a light dinner. It was almost full at 8pm. I was seated at a table for four that seemed to be available. I ordered some light appetizers and udon noodles. The appetizers were larger than I expected. It might have been challenging to share them with just two people. The udon noodles were thick and had a lot of volume. The texture was unique, with a chewy bite. It was my first time trying something like that. But in the end, I finished the udon noodles quickly. There were many items on the menu, so I became interested in trying other dishes as well.

The chicken hot pot course costs 4,000 yen and includes a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option, appetizers (edamame), salad, chicken tempura with tartar sauce, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), grilled chicken thighs, hot pot, and all-you-can-eat udon noodles for the finale. The amount of food was plentiful and delicious, making it a great deal for 4,000 yen. The udon izakaya genre is great because everything is satisfying until the end. However, all the dishes are so delicious that it was a struggle to finish the chicken tempura curry udon at the end, as expected. I should have thought a little more carefully about what to order. Each dish may seem ordinary, but the taste and portion size are amazing! The happy hour until 7pm was also a nice bonus.

Overall, everything was delicious. The chicken tempura in the chicken tempura salad was unexpectedly good. The udon noodles, even in a regular portion, were a bit large, so if you're going to an izakaya, it might be better to order a small portion. I also tried the simmered beef tendon, and the konnyaku was light but flavorful, making it quite high quality. Since the portion size for each dish is quite generous, it's best to share with 3 people or order a variety of dishes to try a little bit of everything.

Until 7:00 PM, most drinks are reasonably priced at 200 yen. The chicken tempura and fluffy thick dashimaki were delicious, and I wanted to finish with udon, but I was too full to eat it, which was regrettable. I want to try the udon next time, so I will visit again.

It's truly a udon izakaya. The toppings for the udon, like tempura vegetables and grilled fish cake, also make great side dishes for drinking. Everything is reasonably priced and delicious. The freshly fried thick fried tofu is crispy on the outside and moist inside, and it's also very tasty. The restaurant has a large screen where you can watch sports, making it a fun place to go with a large group. The udon itself has a strong chewiness and a fragrant wheat aroma that I really like. Since the portions are generous, it's a good idea to order some side dishes to go with your udon.

Chicken Tempura Curry Udon * Cold or Hot for 1000 yen (Changed to small portion for a discount of 50 yen from the regular price of 1050 yen). This was my first time trying the cold version, and I could feel the firmness of the noodles compared to when I had curry udon two times ago. However, by making it cold, the curry soup itself became a bit slimy. When balancing the firmness of the noodles and the temperature of the soup, I personally prefer the hot soup, so I don't think I will order the cold version again in the future. Nevertheless, with three large pieces of chicken tempura that were hot and juicy, I was satisfied once again today.

I revisited this restaurant and ordered the Bamboo and Chicken Tempura Set (890 yen). Since it's getting hot, I decided to go with the cold udon noodles. I ordered the set with one piece of bamboo tempura and one piece of chicken tempura. I also asked for a free upgrade from the regular size (400g) to the medium size (500g) of udon noodles. The noodles were thick and chewy, providing a satisfying meal. The bamboo and chicken tempura were large and crispy, making it another very satisfying lunch.

Chicken Tempura Curry Udon for 1000 yen (discounted from the regular price of 1050 yen by 50 yen for a small portion) *Rice can also be added, so even for adult men, the small portion of udon should be enough. The spicy curry goes well with the long, thick udon noodles, and the taste makes you want to eat more rice. Once a shop that was selected as one of the top 100 udon restaurants for four consecutive years, "Udon Izakaya Edobori" is located in Edobori, Osaka! It is a branch of the Gokuraku Udon group, which has multiple stores in Osaka, known for its strong and chewy noodles. Despite being excluded from the top 100 list in the previous year, the shop still aims to make a comeback. I visited the shop to see if it truly lives up to its reputation. On a weekday afternoon, the shop was crowded with business customers, and I had to wait in line for a seat. The service was a bit slow due to lack of staff, but eventually, I was seated and ordered the "Oroshi Bukkake Udon." The appearance of the cold udon was appealing, but upon tasting it, I was disappointed. The noodles were soft and lacked the chewiness that the shop is known for. The broth was also lacking in flavor. Despite the refreshing touch of lemon, the overall quality of the udon was not up to par. The service and operation of the shop seemed to be struggling, with only one foreign trainee and the male owner in the kitchen. The atmosphere and layout of the shop could also use some improvement. In its current state, it may be difficult for the shop to regain its spot in the top 100 udon restaurants, but if they focus on improving the quality of their noodles and overall dining experience, it is a place worth revisiting. Overall, "Udon Izakaya Edobori" in Osaka may have lost its spot in the top 100 list, but with some improvements, it has the potential to regain its former glory.

I took a walk and decided to visit this place after a long time. I ordered the Chicken Tempura Tartar Set with a small rice and upgraded the udon noodles to Bukkake Udon. The chicken tempura had a bit too much batter, but the Bukkake Udon made up for it. The noodles had a strong texture that kept me coming back for more. Next time, I'll just order the Bukkake Udon on its own.

I tried a famous restaurant near my company that always has long lines, but this time the line was short so I decided to give it a try. They have a sign-up system. I ordered the cold broth chicken tempura udon for 880 yen. They mentioned that the medium size is the same price as the large, but the medium size was actually 400g, which was too much for me, so I should have gone for the small size. The small size is 300g and 50 yen cheaper. Next time, I'll go for the small size and maybe add toppings like fish cake tempura to stay within budget. The noodles were thick and slightly sticky inside. It seems difficult to cook them perfectly. The broth had a strong kelp flavor, more than bonito or dried sardines. The chicken tempura was not fully coated in flour, probably because they serve a large quantity during lunchtime. The seasoning on the chicken was light soy sauce, which was good. The presentation of the dish was neat.
