On a certain weekday, I visited a ramen restaurant in Oomagari, Kitahiroshima City, for the first time, with a little room left after lunch. The parking lot can accommodate a few cars in front of the store and on the side, but be careful not to park in the neighboring bento shop. The interior of the restaurant is relatively spacious, with a cramped counter and wide table seats, and even during the latter half of lunchtime, quite a few customers are dining. The background music is Western music. The recommended item on the menu that day was miso ramen, but I decided to try the "Soupless Thick Noodles with Five Ingredients (800 yen)" with a complimentary "Mini Five-Ingredient Fried Rice" during lunchtime service, as suggested by the friendly owner. Looking around, it seems that there are many ramen varieties, including three types of ramen and an ankake-style ramen. Here it comes. Oh, it's quite a generous portion! Let's take a bite... Oh! I was imagining a thick noodle ankake yakisoba, but this is completely different. The noodles are indeed thick, curly white noodles, as described, and not fried as I expected, but boiled. They are chewy and have a good bite, and when eaten with the sauce on top, it creates a unique sensation. The sauce is lightly flavored with a slightly sweet soy sauce base, and as you eat slowly, it thickens and turns into a soup towards the end. The ingredients include Chinese cabbage, carrots, greens, bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, squid, large shrimp, and pork. Next, the complimentary mini five-ingredient fried rice is prepared in a small bowl and includes lightly seasoned pork, narutomaki, bamboo shoots, green onions, and egg, making it a delightfully filling dish. I suddenly realized that while rice is often served as a complimentary item during lunchtime, receiving fried rice as a complimentary item is wonderful. Thank you for the meal.
