This is a Nepalese curry restaurant located along National Route 36. I noticed that it used to be a set meal restaurant, but somehow it became a curry restaurant four years ago. I always pass by this place when I go to Sapporo, so I have known this restaurant since it opened. I remember seeing a scene of people eating in this restaurant on the UHB TV show "Takatoshi Ranch" every Saturday at 5 pm. On the day I went out, I was planning to go to Otaru, but my car's ETC card was not being recognized. It might be that the IC chip on the ETC card is damaged, but using cash on the highway is troublesome and doesn't earn points, so I canceled my trip to Otaru. I then visited a nearby soup curry restaurant, but it was closed. I thought their regular holiday was a different day, but it had actually changed since February. That's when I ended up here. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a staff member who spoke fluent Japanese, saying "Welcome." There were no Japanese staff, just two men, one wearing a Nepalese hat and the other without anything on his head, running the place. I like eating mutton curry at Indian and Nepalese curry restaurants, so I chose mutton soup curry with a spice level of 6, while my wife ordered spinach mutton curry with a spice level of 4. Oh, and it was surprising to see that the staff member who took our order communicated with the other staff member in Japanese. In most cases, people tend to use their native language. It's a common practice at all Surya restaurants, but it's nice to get a 100 yen discount during lunchtime. The soup curry that came out was filled to the brim with soup, and the amount of rice was also generous. The spinach mutton curry was served in a long ceramic dish, not a small metal round dish, and it contained almost the same amount as Japanese curry rice. The volume was impressive, and my wife and I exchanged glances. When I took a sip of the soup, it was similar to the soup curry served at many Indian and Nepalese curry restaurants, but I felt like there were some elements of Sapporo soup curry here. The soup was quite delicious, but unfortunately, some of the vegetables, other than carrots and potatoes, were overcooked and mushy. My wife, who ate the spinach mutton curry, managed to finish both the large naan and curry at the same time, which was impressive. Usually, when I eat, I finish the naan first, leaving some curry behind. When I asked about the naan basket, she said the balance between the crispy and chewy parts was exquisite and very delicious, along with the curry. She seemed satisfied with the delicious curry and the friendly and approachable male staff. It was a great Nepalese curry restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
