A Japanese restaurant in Asahimachi, Asahikawa City. This place is popular for its affordable lunch sets. After work, I stopped by here after shopping at the nearby Uniqlo. I've been here for a party before during the evening, but this was my first time coming here personally at night. Looking at the menu, the prices for the evening are also quite reasonable. I usually like to order a sushi and tempura set at places like this, but they didn't have a menu that combined both. While they had individual sushi and tempura set meals, there was no set that included both. Many people like to order double portions of their favorite items for the lunch special here. I couldn't eat a double portion of sushi and tempura set, but they did have individual tempura options. The prices were reasonable, so maybe I should order both... (laughs) I ordered the "Namanare" (880 yen) and the "Tempura Assortment" (980 yen) to try. In about 6-7 minutes, the namanare arrived, followed shortly by the tempura. The service here is fast, just like during lunch. The namanare... it's the first time I've seen it written as "san-shi" in a restaurant. Is "chirashi" not acceptable? Well, that doesn't really matter (laughs). The toppings included squid, mackerel, tuna, salmon, ikura, amberjack, egg, and flying fish roe. The sushi rice was slightly vinegary. With miso soup included, for 880 yen, it was quite good. The tempura assortment... it had 3 shrimp, 2 white fish (maybe cod?), sweet potato, pumpkin, eggplant, green pepper, and onion, all fried to a crispy perfection. It came with both tempura dipping sauce and matcha salt. It wasn't a huge portion, but the shrimp could have been reduced to 1 and the price made more affordable as a side dish option. Despite that, I enjoyed it and finished everything (laughs).
