December 2022, "Tornado Cafe" is located at the down line of the Hokkaido Expressway Shikabe PA. This review marks my final visit in 2022. Looking back, there was a time when they had around 150 items in stock. However, due to the birth of my son and the impact of the pandemic, the stock gradually decreased, and by the beginning of 2022, they had zero items in stock. After a long break, the stock increased to around 30 items, but currently, it's around 10 items. On New Year's Eve 2022, I traveled from Asahikawa to Sapporo to Obihiro. Luckily, unlike New Year's Eve 2021, the weather was good, and the journey went relatively smoothly. My son was looking forward to playing with his cousin in Obihiro, so he didn't sleep at all during the trip. Now, back to "Tornado Cafe." It's commendable that they were open on New Year's Eve. Truly grateful for that. The blend coffee for 250 yen (tax included) tasted a bit stale. Honestly, it felt more like a "coffee-flavored drink" at this point. Not tasty at all (laughs).

In November 2022, at the Shikaribetsu Parking Area on the Doto Expressway. It was the first snow of the season, and it was a sight to behold. I ordered an iced coffee, and it was quite interesting. The cup was large, filled with plenty of ice, and just the right amount of coffee. The balance was a bit off, but it was enjoyable. The iced coffee was light, not too bitter or acidic, making it easy to drink.

On November 5th (Saturday), the first day of a mysterious three-day weekend. I suddenly decided to go on a food log activity drive towards Obihiro. I have frequently traveled to the eastern Hokkaido area and have used this rest area for breaks many times, but I have never left a review... Of course, I will stop by again. There were two shops here, so I used both. I purchased an iced coffee at this shop. The coffee was brewed by a machine, the cup was a tall size, and it was filled with ice! x2! And the amount of coffee was half. The amount of ice was a topic of conversation and we laughed, wondering if it was some kind of error... The taste had a unique corn-like flavor, neither good nor bad... It quenched my thirst.

On my way back from Sapporo, I usually pass by at night when most shops are closed, but today I passed by early and decided to make a quick stop. I was feeling a bit hungry and still had about 1 hour and 30 minutes to my destination, so I got some fried chicken. Isn't it cheap to get 5 pieces for 350 yen at this place? I placed my order and received it in 2-3 minutes. Even from the top of the bag, it was piping hot. I took a bite, and it was delicious. The coating was good, but the handling of the meat (around the skin) was poor, making my mouth greasy. The garlic flavor was quite strong, and by the 4th or 5th bite, I had reached my limit. It might be good to share with 2-3 people. Thank you for the meal.

On the way back from a business trip, the bus stopped at the Okotanpe PA for a break. I couldn't resist buying soft serve ice cream there, even though it was cold. The ice cream was quite firm, with a milk base, but not overwhelmingly milky. It was fun to choose from different sizes and cones. Thank you for the meal!

In Ebetsu, I found a kitchen car and was surprised to see Tsugeki Ramen was available here. This place often has kitchen cars parked. When I asked if it was the shop from Shimukappu, they said yes. During Golden Week, I tried the Hokkaido Milk for 350 yen and the Hokkaido Milk with Caramel Mix for 350 yen. I also tried the Caramel for 350 yen and added a Chocolate Langue de Chat Cone for 50 yen. On the first day, I tried the Milk and Caramel. The Milk was soft and sweet, while the Caramel started sweet but became bitter towards the bottom, maybe due to the cone. It was a unique experience. The next day, I tried the Milk and Caramel Mix, which looked dark but tasted like Caramel. It was delicious, and I would definitely eat it again if I see it. Thank you for the meal.

Tornado Pizza 600 yen While traveling from Sapporo, I stopped at a service area for a late-night snack. It was close to closing time so there weren't many options, but I found a pizza wrapped in aluminum foil. It was a bit pricey, but it was just right to satisfy my hunger. I had it warmed up, and even though the crust was a bit firm, it was delicious.

Cash-only place heading from Sapporo to Obihiro. Took a detour to Yoichi for a bit of fun, but it's getting dark so I need to hurry. However, I stopped at "Shimukappu PA" for a break. Had soft serve ice cream, of course. My wife, who was behind me, said, "I'm not helping anymore." She looked a bit stern. I checked the menu and she said, "It's probably 500 yen!" I replied, "No way, that's too much!" But then I saw they had "Hokkaido Soft" for 250 yen. So I got the mini one. Ate the soft serve in the snow because it was cold. Gave it to my wife who was already in the car. She said, "It's crispy and tastes like milk!" Even though she said she wouldn't help, she ended up eating it. This was the 6th ice cream in 5 days at an unprecedented pace. It had a crispy texture and a milk flavor. The sweetness was just right. Overall, it was a delicious soft serve ice cream.
