On this day, I went to Abashiri for a memorial service. After visiting the grave, we had a meal together at this restaurant. It was located in a residential area and had a simple appearance. The "Squid and Burdock Root Salad" served as an appetizer was delicious. I could just eat this alone. They also had "Menme" for sashimi and sushi, which is unique to this area. The grilled cherry salmon had a crispy texture like deep-fried, which was nice. I was surprised by the "Abashiri Wagyu" - it was delicious. I wonder if it will become a new specialty? As for the beer, I had to switch from draft to bottled beer from the second glass. Please clean the beer tap.

There is such a nice long-established restaurant in a residential area in Abashiri. I had the salmon roe bowl. Nowadays, there are shops that add mysterious toppings like shredded omelette and seaweed, but this place serves a classic salmon roe bowl with evenly spread salmon roe, a true classic.

In a residential area in Abashiri, Hokkaido, there is a local sushi restaurant. The "special" set (priced at 1890 yen at that time) included yellowtail, surf clam, scallop, crab, whelk, sea urchin, shrimp, salmon roe, and tuna. The rice was slightly soft, seasoning was just right, sushi was average in size, and the toppings were slightly large. The local sea urchin left a strong impression with its rich flavor. It seems that the taste becomes even more intense after the drift ice season. The service was friendly and had a casual atmosphere. It felt like a place where locals would frequent. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. The miso soup had a homemade touch to it.

Located in the district of Shimomi in Abashiri City, this sushi restaurant, Ryusushi, may seem like a place only for locals, but with the convenience of rental cars and navigation systems, it's easy for anyone to visit. Besides their delicious sushi, they also offer other tasty dishes such as the Ohotsuku Abashiri Zangi Donburi, the Tsuri KinKi Kamameshi, and the Banshaku Set. The Zangi (fried fish) is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the presentation is delightful. Mixing the fried fish with onsen tamago and Abashiri potatoes creates a mouth-watering experience. The Zangi Donburi also comes with a side of Zangi Cha-zuke, which is equally delicious. The Tsuri KinKi Kamameshi is a must-try dish made with locally caught fish. And the Banshaku Set, with a selection of appetizers perfect for a casual drink after work, is a great value. Ryusushi is definitely a restaurant worth taking friends from out of town to experience the delicious flavors of Abashiri.

Located in a residential area on a hill in Abashiri, this restaurant is tucked away in the middle of a side street, making it hard for even locals to notice. I went there wanting to try the Abashiri Zangi Don, but they had already stopped serving it. I also thought the KinKi Kamameshi looked delicious, but it requires a reservation for a course meal, which left me feeling disappointed. I ended up trying the Special Sushi for 2000 yen, but to be honest, it seemed like they were not trying very hard as a sushi restaurant. The toppings were average, and the rice was a bit dry and firm, making me wonder if it was pre-made. If this restaurant were in a more central location, I would be furious, but I think it caters more to local customers who come in for a very domestic dining experience, rather than those who find restaurants on food review websites. There were reports of a dish called Abashiri Zangi Don being the best, but since they no longer offer it, it may not be worth visiting for those outside the area. In fact, I feel like even having this restaurant listed on food review websites might make the owners surprised to see unfamiliar faces.

It is difficult to evaluate a sushi restaurant as the quality of the fish varies depending on the day and season. It all comes down to the service and motivation, right? This place is located in a residential area. I believe it is run by the second generation now. There are about 7 seats at the counter and a raised seating area. There may be table seats as well. I sat at the counter and had sashimi, while my companion had their usual rolls. To be honest, the sashimi was not great. The rolls were also not delicious. I had octopus and mackerel, which were disappointing. Reading other reviews, it seems like this is not really a sushi restaurant... They also serve dishes like fried chicken rice bowl and more.

Appearing at Tobu Ikebukuro. The sushi at Tsuri KinKi is excellent. The northern ingredients are worth trying. Herring sushi is rare. Hokkaido sushi products allow people from Tokyo and Honshu to experience Hokkaido's food culture.

I entered a sushi restaurant in Abashiri, thinking that I wouldn't have the chance to go unless I caused some trouble. I couldn't help but think of Takakura Ken and the yellow handkerchief as I enjoyed the sushi. The sushi was delicious, especially the golden eye snapper. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, located in a department store event space. The staff were attentive and friendly. The prices seemed reasonable, possibly due to being a local event. Overall, I would definitely consider revisiting this place.

I visited the Eat-in booth at the First Stage of the 2017 Hokkaido Food Fair at Tobu Ikebukuro. It's always exciting to see many sushi and ramen shops from Hokkaido coming to my local area. Tobu Ikebukuro holds Hokkaido fairs a few times a year, and I always look forward to it when I see the newspaper ads. The booths include regulars as well as new shops. I have probably tried over 100 booths at this Hokkaido fair in Tobu Ikebukuro. The booth I visited this time had the usual setup. The chefs seemed to be locals, so I did not rate the service and atmosphere. I ordered the "Drift Ice Sushi" (3,564 yen), which included 9 pieces of sushi and a small bowl of Kiniki rice. Overall, the sushi was mostly delicious, especially the Kiniki had a unique sweetness and deep umami flavor. The crab meat was also delicious with an elegant sweetness and flavor. However, there were some disappointing pieces, which I suspected might be due to storage conditions. The most delicious part was the Kiniki rice. I wished they sold it as a standalone dish. Considering the price, even though it's a department store event, it felt a bit expensive. Last year, a Hokkaido conveyor belt sushi restaurant "Triton" opened in the same Tobu Ikebukuro, and I have visited it about 15 times. The sushi ingredients from Hokkaido are always satisfying in terms of price and quality. The shellfish are always fresh and delicious, and the giant Botan shrimp is a must-try. The Hokkaido crab meat is also excellent and reasonably priced. Perhaps my standards have become stricter, but Triton's sushi has set a high bar for me. (By Kyonatsu Shuusora, 2017.1.22)

At a Hokkaido food fair in Ikebukuro, I asked for smaller portions of rice and received recommendations for a few items. I visited the fair every other day and ended up receiving a business card by the end. I ended up choosing mostly white items, so it looked very white on the white plate. The staff at the booth were very kind and provided me with lots of information, making me want to visit their shop as well. I recommend the KinKi sushi, the botan shrimp, and one more item that I can't recall. Also, although I didn't try it that day, the crab roe was delicious.
