This year, in celebration of Rokkatei's 85th anniversary, all the art galleries and gardens on the premises are open for free. I visited Hanarokka as a preview, planning to come back alone next time (haha). The Berlin that was closest to the parking lot has been turned into Gallery Berlin, and the shop has been renamed Hanarokka next to the restaurant Poroshiri. The reason I posted this review this time is because I found the potato chips I was looking for! There were stacks of boxes next to them, and many people were buying them in bulk. I bought two bags of potato chips for 150 yen each, and the Tencho Rokka that caught my eye in a full-page newspaper ad for 300 yen for 3 pieces. There was always someone with me who was hungry, so I bought two crispy pies for 180 yen each from the cafe menu (haha). I ordered a caramel ice cream sandwich for 200 yen and a free coffee (using 25 points) for myself, and enjoyed them at a table. After taking the order, I washed my hands thoroughly and filled the cream in the crispy pie on the spot. As you all know, the expiration date is 3 hours. Well, if you like moist pies, you can wait a little longer before eating them (haha). The caramel ice cream sandwich also has the ice cream inserted after taking the order. In terms of shape, it looks like a hot pot (haha). The ice cream is not too sweet and doesn't have any extra flavors, it's like the taste of Rokkatei. The potato chips for 150 yen per bag contain 0.5g of salt per 60g bag, which is 0.1g less than a certain famous manufacturer. The taste is simple, with ingredients being potatoes (domestic, non-GMO), rice oil (domestic), and salt (Hokkaido). Just right thickness, good for a snack if you don't overeat. Currently only available at Rok'cafe and Hanarokka. The Tencho Rokka for 100 yen per piece is a new confectionery released in celebration of the 85th anniversary. The name "Tencho Rokka" comes from the six flowers representing the northern land: Hamanashi, Oobananorenso, Katakuri, Ezoryukinka, Ezorindou, and Shiraneaoi, which are depicted on the package. It's basically a leaf pie with good thickness and crispiness. The sugar sprinkled on top is perfect for when you're in the mood for something sweet but not too sweet. I like the leaf pie from chocolatier Massa, but the price and taste of Rokkatei's are more down-to-earth and perfect for me (haha). Not sophisticated (sorry!), but a comforting taste at Rokkatei. Thank you for the meal.
