In Asano, there is a tonkatsu restaurant that I think might be one of the oldest. It's still going strong. It might be less crowded on Saturdays at lunchtime than on weekdays. The interior has a counter and a raised seating area, with a capacity of around 15 people. The tonkatsu don is popular, but I ordered the tonkatsu set. The sound of sizzling oil is comforting. The rice portion is generous, and there is a mountain of cabbage. The tonkatsu is also large. You can choose to eat it with mustard, special sauce, or thick sauce. I recommend the combination of mustard and thick sauce. It's not a fancy tonkatsu, but more of a traditional and down-to-earth kind. Miso soup is also included. It's nice that the restaurant is not too crowded. Independent tonkatsu restaurants are rare in Kushiro, so I hope this one continues to thrive.

The service and atmosphere in the restaurant were average. I wanted to try the curry from a famous tonkatsu restaurant in Kushiro, so I ordered without hesitation. However, when it was served, my first impression was, "What is this sad-looking tonkatsu curry!?" The portion of tonkatsu was very small, almost negligible, and the quality was not great either - it was so small that you couldn't even taste the pork. It was like eating a cheap snack. I was disappointed by the appearance and unimpressed by the taste of the tonkatsu curry. If they hadn't offered tea after the meal, I would have given it a rating of 1.0.

I used it for Sunday dinner. The parking lot in front of the store was full. It's a popular place. I had high hopes. I ordered the hirekatsu set meal (1450 yen). It seemed like they had just run out of rice, so they asked, "Do you have time? Can you wait a little?" Yes, I can wait no problem. Even so, it was served in about 15 minutes. I put the special sauce in a small dish and dipped the hirekatsu in it before putting it in my mouth. Hmm... it's not very crispy. The coating was slightly moist. The meat was also a bit tough for hire. This is at the level of an ordinary tonkatsu from another store. The rice was freshly cooked and delicious. The miso soup was light in flavor. It might be good for your health. But... the most important part, the meat... was a disappointment. I thought tonkatsu was a dish where there wasn't much difference between good and bad, but it seems that there can be such a big difference in the frying method and meat quality. I probably won't visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Visit Date: July 2, 2020
For dinner on this day, I visited Kanda-san with a companion. We arrived around 18:50. There was one group of customers before us and one group after us. We ordered two tonkatsu set meals priced at 1,210 yen each, with an additional 110 yen for the large size. The food was served in about 7 minutes.
Tonkatsu Set Meal: The tonkatsu had thick, crispy meat, but the quality of the meat itself was not that great. It had a lot of fatty parts. They provided a special sauce, medium-thick sauce, and soy sauce, and we found the medium-thick sauce and special sauce to be the most delicious. The cabbage was fresh and tasty. The portion size was good, and even with a regular size, we were satisfied.
At the time of payment, my companion misheard the amount and when they asked again, they were given a detailed breakdown of the total cost. They felt embarrassed even though it was just a miscommunication. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for the first time on June 28, 2020 (Sunday) because I wanted to eat tonkatsu. Searched for it and found the place through navigation. It was a bit of a maze in a residential area, but I arrived a little before 12 o'clock. There was one parking space available. The counter was full for some reason, but there was an empty raised seating area. Even though I was alone, I was guided to the raised seating area and felt a bit embarrassed. Ordered the tonkatsu set meal for 1210 yen and an extra piece of fillet cutlet for 240 yen. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served. It was quick. The tonkatsu was not particularly thick or super tender, but it was just delicious. If I visit again, I might try the jumbo size. Finished the tonkatsu set meal. Thank you for the meal (´∇`)

I had known about the Katsudon for 900 yen for a while, but finally made my first visit. Since I read online that many people order the Katsudon, I decided to try it. The Katsudon with a sweet flavor was delicious. It's probably expected from a tonkatsu restaurant, but the pork cutlet was crispy and tasty. I now want to try other menu items, so I will definitely visit again. The set menu may be a bit pricey, but the Katsudon seems to offer good value for the money.

Cost performance is excellent. Both set meals and katsu donburi have a satisfying volume and are very filling.

It's not because of the typhoon, but the shops in Betsukata area are closed. Even the shops in Toya area are closed (tears). One is closed for the day, the other is closed until noon. Finally, we returned to Kushiro city. When we arrived, we decided to try a new restaurant on a side street. We found Tonkatsu Kantan, a place with its lights on and an empty parking lot. My partner wanted tonkatsu, so I agreed, even though I usually get irritated when she picks the restaurant. The interior had a counter with seating for about 8 people, as well as a few small tatami rooms. We ordered the pork cutlet set and the jumbo pork cutlet set. The food arrived quickly, with two thick and delicious pork cutlets on each plate. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sauces complemented it well. I enjoyed the meal, and my partner also liked her pork cutlet skewers. It was a satisfying experience.

It's lunchtime in Kushiro city. I was thinking of getting a convenience store onigiri, but I decided to go to Kanda and have the pork cutlet instead! I had pork cutlet bowl since I had the set meal recently. The portion of rice was generous and I am full now. The pork cutlet bowl comes with a lid on the bowl, and when you open it, it's like the good old days with green peas. This place serves hearty meals. The pickled radish slices are thick. I think pickled radish and lemon slices are thicker in Hokkaido than in Tokyo. The flavor is a bit strong but quite delicious. I paid 820 yen and I am very satisfied. I wonder if the pork is from Akanko Pork. Next time, I'll try the pork cutlet curry! I will definitely come back again!

I arrived in Kushiro City on a weekend night feeling excited to finally visit a restaurant I had been researching. However, I arrived 30 minutes late and found the place to be quite crowded. It seemed to be unexpectedly popular. Disappointed, I decided to try another nearby restaurant. The location was in a residential area, and it was a bit hard to find. The restaurant had a small parking lot and a few seating options. I ordered the pork cutlet curry, which was served in a unique square container. The curry had a homemade taste, but the pork cutlet was not particularly outstanding. Overall, the experience was okay, but I felt like I should have ordered something else. The restaurant seemed to have been in business for a while, and the atmosphere was friendly. I hope they continue to do well, but they could use a bit more business savvy.

It was quite crowded when we went after 7 pm. My husband had the tonkatsu set meal, and I had the hirakatsu donburi. The cabbage that came with the tonkatsu set meal was delicious. It seemed like the prices had gone up since last year, but the food was so tasty that we were very satisfied. The couple at the next table were enjoying beer and snacks and staying for a long time. The hirakatsu was juicy and delicious. Next time, I might try the hirakatsu set meal. It seemed to be over 1200 yen, though.

Hokkaido summers are short... especially in the eastern part of the island where autumn comes quickly. I visited the east for work in September, just as the signs of autumn were starting to appear. On my way back to Kushiro Airport after visiting a work site, I stopped at a restaurant for lunch. There was only one other group of customers there, enjoying pork rice bowls. I had a moment of hesitation... "Pork rice bowls at a tonkatsu restaurant?" Well, I decided to take a look at the menu. The jumbo tonkatsu seemed to have the same meat quality but was just bigger, not thicker. So, I went with the tonkatsu set for 1050 yen. It seemed pretty ordinary, with cabbage and mayonnaise on the side. When I picked up a piece with my chopsticks, the breading separated from the meat... and the fat was on the front side. I prefer the fat to be on the other side... The sauce options were not explained, so I tried the special sauce first. It had a strong ketchup flavor and was a bit sweet. I switched to the other sauce, which was better. The tonkatsu itself was thick and delicious, with a good marinade. Overall, for this price, it was quite good. Encountering tonkatsu like this in a local restaurant makes me happy.

Opposite the Suno office is a tonkatsu restaurant. I used to frequent it during my student days. It brings back memories. There is a counter and a raised tatami seating area. It gets quite crowded during lunchtime, but the service is quick so the turnover rate is high. In the evenings, it's filled with students, families, and people out for drinks. The menu mainly focuses on tonkatsu. I've always wanted to try the Jumbo Hire Katsu set meal, but I always end up ordering a rice bowl instead. The sauce on the rice bowls is thick and sweet, which I really enjoy. If you like rich and sweet sauce, I recommend the rice bowls! The Hire Katsu rice bowl has tender and juicy meat. The meat is well-prepared and easy to eat. It might be a bit small for men, but it's great that you can enjoy Hire Katsu for under a thousand yen. Be careful when eating as the Hire Katsu is freshly fried and topped with a runny egg. You can enjoy the crispy texture of the katsu, the creamy egg, and the sweet sauce that spreads in your mouth. The Tempura Rice Bowl has shrimp, eggplant, green pepper, and some leafy vegetable tempura. I wonder what vegetable that is? The tempura is crispy, likely due to being freshly fried. The sauce is generously drizzled over both the tempura and the rice below. It's similar to the sauce used in Obihiro's pork rice bowl. It was a bit difficult to eat with the nori seaweed placed between the rice and tempura, but I still love this sauce.

I used to visit this restaurant occasionally in the past, but had completely forgotten about it because it is located in a residential area. By chance, I had some business nearby and happened to pass by the restaurant, so I decided to go in. It was around 7pm and there was only one other customer at the time, but as I placed my order and waited, four more groups of customers arrived. Just like in the past, I ordered the tonkatsu set meal. The first bite... delicious!! The price and taste have remained consistently good over the years. The only thing that seemed different was that the owner lady seemed to have gotten a little smaller... Please take care of your health and continue running the restaurant for a long time. I will definitely come back again.

It's been a while since my wife and I wanted to eat some meat, so we decided to visit this restaurant. Surprisingly, both the owner and the chef seemed to have lost weight... They used to look more plump, and I felt like they would cook delicious food just by looking at them. Anyway, we ordered tonkatsu set and my wife ordered katsu curry. When we arrived, there was only one salaryman dining, but three more groups came in while we were waiting. It's still crowded even on weekdays, I thought. My wife's katsu curry and my tonkatsu set arrived promptly. The meat was thick yet tender, and the breading was crispy - still delicious as ever! According to my wife, the katsu curry was also outstanding. By the way, almost all the other customers ordered katsudon. I bet anything you order here would be delicious. It was a satisfying dinner!

When I want to eat tonkatsu, I come here. The interior has a counter and table seating, giving a typical diner feel. The thick tonkatsu is tender and juicy all the way through. It's quite filling and satisfying to eat. There are two types of sauce available at each table for you to use as you like. There are other menu options as well. I once went after 2 pm and they were sold out of tonkatsu, so I tried something else, but I still recommend the tonkatsu set meal.
