My dear friend and fellow reviewer, Matchan Kanchan, told me about this shop. I only asked for the location, but they said, "Come by car!" I was too busy, but they insisted, saying they wanted to buy their tarako too. So, I ended up riding in Matchan's BMW 8 Series and braving the scorching heat to visit the shop together. We chose the sliced and broken tarako. Whether it's a perfectly shaped and flawless tarako or a broken one, it's all still the delicious tarako from Tora-jima. I happily bought the sliced and broken tarako. I also asked for a cooler bag and ice pack. Tora-jima's tarako is truly unique. While the tarako from Oshoro, the birthplace of shishamo smelt, is also delicious, Tora-jima's has a special touch with its firm texture. It's a bit darker in color because they don't use nitrite, but it doesn't affect the taste at all! Treat yourself to some delicious Tora-jima tarako once in a while. It wasn't even that expensive. Thank you so much for today, Matchan! ♫

There are good fishing grounds along the coast in the Tokoro-hama area of Shiraoi town, with abundant seafood. One of the specialties in this area is "tarako" (cod roe). Tokoro-hama is known for producing high-quality and delicious tarako, with many seafood companies competing in processing and offering unique flavors. The "Kanbara" shop is a popular spot, offering a variety of tarako flavors for customers to enjoy. One recommended option is the "Komakireko" which is a 200g pack for 980 yen (excluding tax). It features large, thinly flavored pieces with a refreshing taste, using natural salt from Okinawa and sake from Hokkaido. The texture is lively and the flavor is both simple and deep, making it a great match for various dishes like rice, pasta, and stews. It may give a surprising first impression, but once you try it, you'll likely be hooked on its charm.

[Tiger Zaya Ham Kanbara Fisheries] When we go to Shiraoi, my parents always buy tarako at this store, so we stopped by this time as well. They sell it in a cup labeled "shell string" as a snack for the drive. It doesn't have any overly sweet seasoning, just a good taste. I tried the smoked tarako and thought, "This is delicious!" so I ended up buying it. The smoky aroma and sticky texture are great. I haven't opened it yet, but I feel like it will disappear as soon as I do.

Tarako from Torazaki-hama (200g cut into pieces) for 1058 yen and smoked tarako for 345 yen. I found a beautiful store at the roadside direct sales shop in Torazaki-hama by the sea. I decided to stop by to buy some tarako. I chose the Torazaki-hama tarako and the Alaskan tarako. Since it's for home use, I went with the cut pieces. The texture is amazing! It has a refined light taste, very delicious. The smoked tarako costs 700 yen for 100g, which is a bit expensive. The smoky aroma is strong, but the tarako itself is not too firm and the grains are well-preserved, perfect for pairing with sake. I've bought tarako from a few other shops in Torazaki-hama before, but I think this one is my favorite. Thank you for the meal!

Spicy cod roe 972 yen, insulated bag 110 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal! No matter how many times I go, I can't find Namericawa's mother's store, it seems like it's closed. It's the changing times, there's a nice new store called "Kanbara". It's not just tarako, the hokke and Sōhachi look delicious too. The store owner's customer service isn't bad, but maybe it's not their strong suit? The food they make is top-notch, but the selling part is a bit lacking. They're still young, so I hope they keep working hard! Tarako 1000 yen, Sōhachi 300 yen, plus tax makes it 1404 yen. I'll pay later! (^^)v

I went to Torasugi Beach. After buying some dried mackerel, I found a new shop! I decided to check it out to see what they have. I saw scallop strings at the register for 200 yen, perfect for a drive snack! I bought one and tried it out. The shop had dried fish and frozen goods, but they seemed a bit pricey. I enjoyed the scallop string in the car, even though it made things a bit oily inside. It was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it. I finished it quickly. It's okay since it's a company car, but if it was my personal car, it might be a different story (laughs). Scallop strings taste great with milk, I want to try them again when I'm in the area. Thank you for the meal!

"Tiger Zoji Beach Kanbara - I come here every year around the Bon festival season. This year, I didn't buy tarako, but instead opted for some rare delicacies. If it wasn't so hot, I would have bought frozen products too. The scallop ears are a must-have for both a drive snack and evening drink. The cup packaging makes it convenient to place at a drink stand. Highly recommended!"

Located in the Torasouhama area of Shiraoi Town, this seafood shop primarily deals with tarako (cod roe). In recent years, the building of the shop has been renovated, making the interior very clean and attractive. The display showcases a variety of carefully selected tarako, with words like "Traveling Tarako" and "Enjoyed 80,000 times" expressing the owner's passion. On the day of my visit, I ordered squid marinated in soy sauce for souvenirs and scallop delicacies for a snack during a drive (since it was a very hot day, I saved the tarako for later). The scallop delicacies, filled to the brim in a cup, had a deep umami flavor and were perfect for a drive snack. I regret not buying another one to enjoy with beer. I have tried other products including tarako, and everything was meticulously prepared. The customer service was also excellent, making it a highly recommended shop that I would like to visit again.

At the end of the year, a delivery person came and brought a package! It wasn't from Amazon, so I was surprised. When I looked at the sender's name, it was my friend F who I met at Shiogama Shrine when they visited from Tomakomai to Shiogama last March. I opened the box and found "Kanbara Suisan" company's "Kojohama Tarako" inside! The tarako looked beautiful and delicious. "Kojohama Tarako" is marinated using natural salt and water from Lake Kutchara, known for its high transparency, giving it a light and natural flavor. I cooked some new rice and topped it with a piece of tarako! The red tarako looks great on white rice. It's not too salty, so I could eat as much as I want. I finished two bowls in no time! It's also perfect mixed with butter rice. I also tried it with pasta. I mixed shredded tarako, butter, and a little lemon juice with freshly boiled pasta. After mixing it well, I garnished it with seaweed and shredded shiso leaves. It turned out to be a delicious tarako pasta with just the right amount of saltiness from the tarako and butter. I froze the leftovers to enjoy later. Thank you, T!
