The title is "Buta Sagari" but what I ordered was actually Katsu Curry. It was a pit stop on the way to my destination, and I decided to visit on a whim. The restaurant had a typical atmosphere you would find at a service area, where you buy meal tickets beforehand. I ordered the Katsu Curry and my companion ordered the Buta Sagari set meal. The Katsu Curry was decent, with the meat being very delicious. It seemed to be made with locally sourced pork that was incredibly tender and easy to chew. There was no typical issue of the breading falling off the cutlet. However, the disappointing part was that there wasn't enough curry sauce for the amount of rice and cutlet provided. Towards the end, I ran out of curry sauce. Was it a matter of how I was eating it...? The Buta Sagari set meal my companion ordered was a bit tricky. It came out in a DIY style where you cook the meat and vegetables on a solid fuel burner. The problem was that the burning time of the solid fuel was insufficient. The meat was thick, so it was difficult to cook through. The distance between the iron plate and the flame was a bit far, so the heat was not sufficient. Although it was nice to cook the meat thoroughly, I couldn't finish cooking all the meat and vegetables while the fuel was burning. It was a shame because the meat and sauce were delicious. Based on the above, I rated this experience a 2.5. Truly disappointing.

Genghis Khan is a must-try dish on a Hokkaido tour.

I decided to have lunch here, combining it with souvenir shopping and a restroom break. It was quite crowded with several large tour buses arriving. I ordered the soup curry, while my parents had the two-color bowl, and my sister ordered Genghis Khan and pork bowl. The soup curry was kept hot with solid fuel and remained piping hot until the end. It had plenty of vegetables and the spices were just right, making it quite delicious. Genghis Khan was cooked on a table grill. I'm not a fan of the unique smell of lamb meat, but I took a bite and found that the meat here had no unpleasant odor and was enjoyable to eat. The special Furano pork bowl was the best value for money and I thought it was the most satisfying dish. The pork slices were not thick, but they paired well with the sweet sauce and the fattiness, making the rice go down smoothly. On the other hand, the two-color bowl was disappointing. The crab meat and salmon roe didn't taste fresh. Additionally, the salmon sashimi in the side dish was clearly frozen upon sight. I recommend trying the special Furano pork bowl here.

During a sightseeing trip in Biei and Furano, I had lunch at "Omoide no Furano". As an optional on a bus tour, I ordered the Genghis Khan set for 1200 yen. I enjoyed my meal on the second floor of the restaurant with a great view. The Genghis Khan dish was beautifully arranged with lamb meat on top and vegetables on the lower part where the fat drips. The fresh vegetables like pumpkin, bell pepper, corn, onion, eggplant, and bean sprouts were delicious, and the lamb meat was flavorful and fatty. Everything was cooked perfectly. The corn and pumpkin were sweet and tasty, and the onion was juicy and sweet. The bean sprouts soaked up the delicious lamb broth well. I truly enjoyed the bounty of Hokkaido's land through this Genghis Khan dish. Thank you for the beautiful scenery and delicious lunch, "Omoide no Furano". Operating hours: April to November, 9:00-16:00; December to March, closed.

Located at the foot of the Fukayama Pass in Kami-Furano Town, next to Furano National Route 237, there is a large restaurant where tourist buses often stop. Souvenirs are also sold on the first floor, with the restaurant on the second floor. Customers first purchase meal tickets, then place their order at the restaurant counter. Water, tea, and disposable chopsticks are self-service. When your order is ready, your number will be called and you can pick it up at the counter. This time, I ordered the "pork bowl"! The pork bowl here is just as delicious as the ones in Obihiro! It might even be better than the original... While Obihiro's pork bowl has a strong flavor and thick pork slices, here the pork slices are thinner and the seasoning is more subtle, with less sweetness. It's like a greatly enhanced version of a homemade pork bowl... The intense flavor of Obihiro's pork bowl can be divisive, but I think anyone would find this place delicious. I consider it a hidden gem. I highly recommend trying it out. Recommended ☆☆☆☆☆

I used it as part of a group tour. It was a Furano barbecue, but there was no explanation of what makes it "Furano", and the service was not up to par. Looking at the website, it seems that the set includes grilled beef belly, pork belly, pork skirt, ramen, assorted vegetables, delicacies, pickles, white rice, and mountain vegetable soba. You have to share the teppan with the person sitting across from you at the four-person table, so it might be awkward if you're not with family or friends. The inclusion of "imomochi" that was not listed on the website menu was perhaps a promotional tactic by the restaurant. The pickles were served in plastic containers, giving off a sample-like aroma. Overall, the food was decently tasty, but the feeling of being geared towards groups was hard to ignore.

We stopped for lunch on a bus trip. The place was far from the station, so there were only tourist buses, cars, trucks, and other vehicles. The interior of the restaurant had a retro feel, like a local diner. They seemed to specialize in pork, so I chose the tonkatsu. The portion was large and reasonably priced. However, the tonkatsu itself had too much fat and was too much for me, so I ended up feeling sick and leaving some. The rice and pickles were delicious though. My friend had the pork bowl which was less fatty and tastier. The sauce was also good.

This shop is located in a high position on the deep mountain pass, and during the lavender blooming season, it is full of tourists! Next to the souvenir corner, there is a restaurant, so when you want to eat, you buy a meal ticket from the ticket machine and hand it to the lady. On this day, I ordered miso ramen + curry set and my partner ordered Genghis Khan set. The shop is completely self-service, so when it's crowded, sometimes even if your number is called, others who ordered the same menu may come, so be careful! The taste is at the level of a tourist restaurant, the noodles are hard, and the soup has no flavor, but when you're hungry, it's just about okay... I can't really recommend the Genghis Khan set! The meat is too tough, and the bean sprouts are oily and mushy. My partner gave up after three bites (/ _ ·,). I'm not a big fan of this kind of restaurant, but it might make for an interesting story.

I stopped by a restaurant on the way to Asahiyama Zoo on Children's Day, May 5th. Although I'm not sure of the name of the restaurant, I believe I can identify it based on the map. The menu had quite a variety, but the vegetable curry I wanted to eat was sold out, so I ordered a set of ramen and curry instead. The taste was okay. If they could add more ingredients to the curry, it would be better... But considering that the restaurant is located on a mountain pass and mainly caters to drive-by customers, it's understandable. I entered the restaurant around 11:30 am, and there were only a few customers at that time. However, by around 12 pm, the restaurant was about 80% full.

When I stopped by Furano, I wanted to get some souvenirs but ended up going to a restaurant instead. I had ramen here, specifically the Furano ramen which was a miso-flavored ramen with fried potato mochi on top, and it was delicious. The fried potato mochi seemed to be a popular souvenir as well. They also had set meals, and one that caught my eye was the pork rice bowl. It looked juicy and delicious. I wished I had ordered that instead when I saw the person next to me enjoying it, but it was already too late as I had finished more than half of my ramen. Next time, I'll try the pork rice bowl.

1F is a general restaurant, and 2F is a group dining area. It's a cafeteria. I had lunch here on a tour organized by a travel agency. Since it was a group tour, we were seated in the dining area on the 2nd floor and I had a teppanyaki set meal with salmon and potato mochi. It cost around 1000 yen and came with rice, miso soup, and side dishes, but it didn't really feature typical Hokkaido cuisine. The salmon was very thin, and there was only a small amount of potato mochi. The staff consisted mostly of older women, and their service felt mechanical and lacking in warmth. It's common for tour group dining places to be like this, but I wouldn't want to visit this restaurant again.
