After lunch, I stopped by the vegetable store "Naitaku Vegeta" to see if they had any interesting vegetables. Whenever I pass by during their business season, I always make sure to visit and buy some non-standard yurine (lily root). 500g of medium-sized yurine (5-6 pieces) costs 450 yen, making it a high-quality ingredient that even common folks like me can afford. In the winter, I enjoy cooking the yurine in hot pots, using it as an ingredient in miso soup, simmering it in broth and finishing it off with an egg. I also found mountain wasabi for 300 yen and bought it, but later when I visited Aina-ya, I found the same amount for half the price (I lost, haha). They also had soft-serve ice cream available at this store, and my companion was eager to have some on this hot day. When given the choice, they picked a small cup of red bean soft-serve for 350 yen, while I opted for a mini cup for 280 yen. The cashier at the vegetable counter also serves as the ice cream server, so the options are limited to cups, except for the vanilla soft-serve for 300 yen. We enjoyed our ice cream on the outdoor bench while overlooking the Naumann Park. The ice cream had a natural creamy flavor, a slightly gritty texture, and a satisfying chewiness, which I really liked. It's the perfect amount for when you just want a little taste. And since it's from Yotsuba, you can always count on the taste being consistent, right? My companion, who loves red bean paste, ordered the red bean soft-serve. I was curious about how they would top it off. Despite looking a bit unstable, the red bean paste stayed stuck to the soft-serve until the very end, even with my companion's tendency to drop things. The sweet red bean paste paired well with the soft-serve, making for a delightful combination. If they had a yurine and red bean paste soft-serve, that would be interesting! Thank you for the meal.
