Visited on a certain day in November at 2:00 PM. No customers were there when I arrived. Once again, I ordered the daily lunch special priced at 780 yen, limited to 50 servings. Today's special was hamburger in demi-glace sauce and fried squid. The dishes arrived in a few minutes, and upon seeing them, I thought, "Hmm... is the fried squid frozen?" Well, considering the price, it's understandable. As for the hamburger in demi-glace sauce... could it be a retort-packed "chicken hamburger"? I'm not sure if it is, but the size, texture, and taste made me think of that. I kept repeating to myself, "Well, considering the price, it's understandable." Despite my comments, the miso soup was delicious as it was last time.
After the meal, I was able to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee while smoking, so I was somewhat satisfied. If I have the chance to revisit, I'll opt for the regular menu instead of the daily special.
On a sunny holiday in October, while cycling around near my home, I noticed a red banner saying "Taste-Boasting Lunch." I had seen it a few times before but never paid much attention to it. Upon checking on Tabelog, it seemed to be a Western-style restaurant. Surprisingly, despite being close to my home, I had never noticed its existence, probably because the neighboring "Mangetsu Shokudo" is more prominent.
I visited after 1:00 PM. The counter, which can seat about 10 people, was almost full of office workers and construction workers. There were about five tables, and an elderly couple occupied one. I chose a table near the window at the back. Although I casually glanced at the menu, I had already decided what to order. I ordered the daily lunch special priced at 780 yen, limited to 50 servings per day, as written on the signboard outside. Today's special was chicken cutlet and ginger pork.
While reading a magazine and playing with my smartphone, I waited for about 20 minutes. Suddenly, I raised my head, thinking it was taking too long. I made eye contact with the owner chef in the kitchen, who said, "We ran out of rice... We're cooking more, so please wait a little longer." During lunchtime, rice is served in large portions, and refills are free. Most customers were unabashedly asking for refills, and it seemed like I had to wait quite a while.
My daily lunch special finally arrived. Visually, it was decent for the price. The ginger pork was a bit salty for my taste. The chicken cutlet didn't seem freshly fried, but at this price, it might be acceptable. Setting aside the food, for some reason, the miso soup was very delicious. A regular miso soup with fried tofu and green onions as ingredients tasted this good... I couldn't resist having a second serving.
Regardless of the food, the fact that smoking is allowed throughout the day is appreciated. There are few places where you can sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee, and smoke leisurely nowadays. A restaurant that allows smoking after a meal is valuable. Of course, I would consider revisiting.
