I visited a soba restaurant at the Central Wholesale Market in February 2023. The restaurant had table seats and raised tatami seating, and it looked spacious. I ordered the Curry Nansoba from the menu. The staff informed me that I could also choose sesame soba in addition to the green tea soba, so I went with the green tea soba. It took less than 10 minutes for the dish to be served. The curry broth had a light thickness and a strong curry flavor. The soba noodles were thin and firm, making them easy to eat. The chicken thigh meat was tender but had a slight taste. In addition to green onions, the dish also had julienned burdock root as an ingredient.

Visited in the rain today. It's chilly, so I had warm soba, tonkatsu curry, and nanban. Started with crispy tonkatsu on rice, then enjoyed it as katsu curry. Next, slurped up the soba, and finished with my own curry risotto. It was delicious!

Katsu-don set for 1,150 yen at the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. I had lunch at an off-market restaurant. Many restaurants are closed on Sundays because the market is closed. This area is popular with tourists, and there are many seafood options, but I was drawn to Ichian, a soba restaurant, by the enticing photos of tempura and fried foods on the menu outside. The restaurant is spacious with table seating and raised seating areas. While it is a soba restaurant, they offer a variety of side dishes like tempura, kashiwa (chicken), katsu (pork cutlet), and curry to accompany the soba dishes. I ordered the katsu-don set with cold soba. The soba was served in a tea broth, and the katsu had a nice sweet and savory flavor. Even though it's a soba restaurant, the katsu was delicious. The kashiwa set with two types of fried chicken also looked appetizing. The cost performance is great. It's more than just a soba restaurant, it's a great dining spot.

I came to eat Tonkatsu Curry at Minami Ban. There is no parking lot at the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is divided into smoking and non-smoking areas, but there is a smell of cigarettes. The menu has a wide variety of options. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry Minami Ban for 930 yen. It took a little while for the dish to be served. It had plenty of green onions and mushrooms. The tonkatsu was thick and satisfying to eat. The soba noodles were thin and green in color, cooked slightly soft. The dipping sauce was on the thinner side and lacked thickness. The flavor leaned more towards the curry taste than the sweetness.

It's nice that there are some restaurants that open for lunch at 10 o'clock. Of course, in the Hokkaido market area, there are plenty of diners that serve breakfast, but for those who work around here, they will need more than just seafood. A popular Chinese restaurant nearby was already crowded even though it was early. I used the shared parking lot in the central market. It can get crowded depending on the day and time, but the fact that it's free to use is a plus. In recent years, the number of tourists has drastically decreased, but it's still a popular spot for Sapporo residents, with various non-seafood restaurants scattered around, making it enjoyable just to walk around. The recommended menu is prominently displayed on the wall. Although it's a soba restaurant, it has a lot of diner-like elements. When I entered the restaurant through the dark green noren curtain, the interior was surprisingly spacious with many seats, including tatami seating. - Mini Tempura Rice Bowl Set ¥700 I chose a menu that seemed special as displayed on the exterior. Although I couldn't see any customers inside, it seemed like they were preparing takeout orders, so I had to wait a bit before it was served. The soba and tempura were served in a bowl of the same size. I slurped the soba noodles dipped in the broth. I also tried adding green onions and grated wasabi to the bowl. The broth poured lightly over the rice was a sweet sauce. The small tempura consisted of 2 shrimp and shishito peppers. As depicted, the portion was a bit small, and even for someone with a small appetite, it felt a bit lacking. However, considering it was a special menu, it was reasonable. Thank you for the meal.

After a long time, I went on a soba noodle crawl. Today's second stop was at Soba Restaurant Ichian Ichiba-ten located outside the central market. They have a variety of eye-catching set menus and individual rice bowl dishes. However, I was intrigued by the "New Autumn Special Campaign" posted on the window, so I ordered the dipping noodles. It arrived in about 5 minutes! The soba noodles had a color reminiscent of tea soba, slightly soft with a subtle chewiness. The texture was quite good. The dipping sauce had a generous amount of fried tempura bits, but it wasn't greasy at all, and the oil didn't float on top. The sauce also had chopped yuzu, giving it a nice fragrance that stimulated the appetite. Among all the dipping noodles I've tried, this one was outstandingly delicious. I was quite satisfied with the delicious soba. As soon as I finished eating, another customer entered and started smoking slowly, so I hurriedly left. It seems there are still smoking-permitted restaurants out there. Definitely not a place for non-smokers...

One weekend, I decided to try out a soba restaurant called "Sono Uchi" located near Sapporo Central Wholesale Market for lunch. The restaurant had a historical vibe with plenty of table seating in the back. They also offered delivery services. The atmosphere was cozy with jazz music playing in the background. I was a bit tired from trying to choose from the extensive menu, so I ended up ordering the "Katsu-don set (980 yen)" with cold soba. The soba had a green color, which was a bit of a mystery to me. The soba was ordinary and easy to eat. The dipping sauce was unexpectedly flavorful. The Katsu-don had a distinct flavor with the sauce seeping into the meat and rice. The dish had a strong taste that would appeal to those who enjoy bold flavors. The meat was tender, and I enjoyed it with some mustard and pickles. For dessert, I had a smooth pudding and finished with soba-yu. As I was leaving, I noticed another customer's fried dish looked delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I visited a tea soba restaurant in a market near Nijuhachiken Station. In May, I ended up working from home for a week. I tried to endure it for a few days, but the stress made me feel exhausted! Ah, feeling exhausted only in my mind, but my belly is bulging! Haha. For lunch, I escaped from home to the market for a change of mood. While typing away on my computer, I kept snacking on the sweets in front of me, so I wasn't very hungry. I decided to have some soba to eat lightly. The tea soba cost 530 yen and took about 10 minutes to arrive. A cold tea soba appeared! Oh, it comes with a raw egg! How do I eat this raw egg? Drink it? Pour it over the soba? Dip it in the broth? Just mix the egg and dip it in? I wasn't sure about the correct way, so I decided to put it in the broth in the end. The tea soba was ice-cold and had a strong tea flavor! Surprisingly, it was quite tasty! I wish there were more green onions though. There was no soba water, but maybe that's how it is with tea soba? I realized that I didn't really understand the rules of tea soba (^_^*) Well, it was cheap and I enjoyed the tea soba, so it was a nice change of mood. Thank you for the meal!

This is a popular soba restaurant located in an outdoor market. The interior is relatively spacious with a casual atmosphere typical of a town soba shop. The menu is extensive, offering soba, rice bowls, set meals, and hearty set meals that can also be changed to udon. The "morisoba" dish costs 530 yen and consists of light green tea soba sprinkled with white sesame seeds. The soba noodles are slightly thin, firm, and have a moist texture. The flavor is more of a light tea taste than the traditional soba flavor. The broth is slightly sweet and pairs well with the soba. Mixing the egg provided with the broth and dipping the soba in it creates a delicious combination. The condiments are average, and the soba water is clear. Overall, while hot dishes may overshadow the soba due to its nature, the variety of the menu and the quality of the cold soba make this restaurant a satisfying choice for a casual soba dining experience. Additionally, they offer surprisingly generous portions like the Zangi set meal, making it a fun option for those in the mood for soba or a meal in this area.

After exploring the off-site market, I stopped by "Chasoba Ichi-an" for the first time. The entrance didn't prepare me for how spacious the interior is - with 10 tables for 4 people, 2 tables for 2 people, and about 6 sunken tables. Towards the back of the restaurant, there is even a counter facing the wall with about 5 seats. There was only one customer when I arrived, so I chose a 4-person table in the middle. Looking at the menu, I noticed they have a variety of set meals. I ordered the "Tanuki Soba @550 yen" and it arrived in about 10 minutes. Surprisingly, it came with rice, raw egg, and pickles on the side. When I asked the server, they explained that it was a complimentary set that comes with the meal. Even though I thought it was too much food, I couldn't resist and ended up eating it all. The soba was decent, on the softer side without much bite. I wish the dipping sauce had more flavor from bonito flakes. The rice could have been warmer too. It's been a while since I had tamago kake gohan. But for 550 yen, the value for money was excellent. Thank you for the meal!

This is a soba restaurant located next to Sapporo Central Wholesale Market in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. The restaurant is popular among market workers and locals, serving dishes like tempura and soba. I visited on a sunny day and ordered a beer, tempura, and mori soba. The tempura was crispy and flavorful, with a generous portion. The mori soba was served cold with a sesame topping, and the dipping sauce was sweet and rich. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lively. The sound of tempura being fried constantly filled the air, indicating its popularity among market-goers.

In the midst of strong winds in May 2016, I found myself wandering around an outdoor market for some reason. I've been craving meat lately, but I decided to go for some soba instead. I remembered visiting a place called Ichi-an before, not a chain restaurant. There were two other customers when I arrived at 1:30pm, and I was seated at a spacious table for four. I noticed they had curry with pork cutlet, but I resisted and stuck with soba since I was feeling cold from the strong wind. I ordered just the soba, not a set meal. It arrived in 10 minutes, while the other customers were still eating, so it felt like it was just for me. The soba was served with spinach and dried bonito flakes, giving it a nice presentation. The soba seemed to be green tea soba, but the flavor was lacking. The dried bonito flakes were tasty, being from the market. I was surprised to see such dry green onions, as there was also a vegetable market nearby. I thought adding a raw egg might improve the dish, but unfortunately, it didn't. I should have just drunk the egg on its own. The meal cost 530 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I had a meeting with the coaches of the baseball private league I belong to at this restaurant. This shop is located in the Central Wholesale Market, called "Chasoba-ten Ichi-an Ichiba-ten". There doesn't seem to be a parking lot, so I parked nearby. Inside, there are box seats, counter seats, and a raised seating area at the back. The capacity is large enough for the market workers and customers to fit in. As soon as I looked at the menu, I was captivated by the "Tonkatsu Curry Namban (850 yen including tax)" and ordered it. The others ordered Katsudon set meals and Tempura Soba. They managed to bring out all 11 dishes at once, pretty quick. Everything arrived in about 20 minutes. With everyone here, I couldn't take many photos, unfortunately. How about this soba? Looks good with the large cutlet on top of the brownish soba. Let's dig in. Starting with the dipping sauce. The curry in the Namban is on the spicy side. It blends well with the sauce and tastes quite delicious. It's a pass. The soba is made of green tea, but it's hard to taste the flavor because it's buried under the curry. The soba itself is soft and not very chewy. The cutlet is very tasty. Thick and tender, it goes well with the curry. Namban curry is common, but having a cutlet on top is a nice touch. This restaurant allows smoking, so I wouldn't come here alone, but maybe we'll have our coach meeting here next year. Thank you for the meal.

【Smoking allowed】 A restaurant popular among people working in the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market, delivery companies, and surrounding areas. They serve soba noodles, set meals, and rice bowls. The location is on a side street between Cosmo Oil and Hokkaido Gourmet, off the main street of the Central Market (Kuwaon Hassamu-dori). If coming from the Ring Road side, turn east at the intersection just after Tsubohachi Processing Center, then follow the diagonal alley on the right-hand side. It's within a 10-minute walk from the Tozai Line Nijuyonken Station and about a 20-minute walk from the JR Kuwaon Station.Visited for the first time on December 27, 2014, at 11:00 am. I was shopping at the Central Market and decided to eat there. There were 2 customers when I arrived, and about 10 more came in later. A group from a nearby company also mentioned they would be coming in later. The seating area near the entrance is tables, but further back, there are raised tatami seating areas, with a large capacity. The staff were busy with takeout orders, and the popular dish seemed to be the hot pot udon. I ordered the Zangi set meal (comes with a drink and free small rice refill) for 780 yen, with oolong tea as my drink. The Zangi was served in about 7 minutes, with 5 large pieces and a small bowl of rice. The staff were friendly and efficient, with the manager overseeing things in a lively manner. The Zangi had a crispy exterior and a slightly chewy interior, seasoned with a light soy sauce flavor. The dish went well with the dipping sauce, which had a strong bonito flavor. I added some shichimi spice for extra kick. When I asked for a rice refill, they brought it promptly with a smile, asking if I wanted the same portion as before. The Zangi and rice were satisfying, and when I finished, the staff asked if the portion was enough. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

In November 2014, I visited Chasoba Dokoro Ichi-an Ichiba-ten for the first time. This restaurant is located in the Kuwazon area of Chuo-ku, Sapporo, along the Nakamichi road inside the Sapporo Nijyo Ichiba market. It is open year-round and also offers delivery services. I visited for lunch on a holiday. The restaurant mainly has tables for four people. There were no customers when I arrived, and only two customers came in after me. I ordered the "Today's Lunch Menu - Katsu Curry Set" from the menu outside the restaurant, while my companion ordered the "Soba Teishoku." I chose cold soba. The food arrived in 9 minutes. Katsu Curry Set: - Cold green-colored soba with a loose texture, lacking the usual tea or soba aroma. - The soba broth was quite sweet and not very spicy even with wasabi added. - The curry had a good amount of volume, resembling cafeteria curry. The katsu was freshly fried and thick, which was nice. - The set also included salad, ice coffee, and pickles. Soba Teishoku: - Cold soba with rice and various side dishes including tempura, mushrooms, peppers, squid, pumpkin, crab omelette, simmered vegetables, chicken, burdock, and carrots. - The set also included salad and pickles. Both sets were filling and reasonably priced. The "Chasoba" had a diner-like taste with a strong sweetness in the soba broth, which I personally didn't prefer. However, my companion, who enjoys sweet flavors, found it okay. The Katsu Curry was quite good, and overall, the restaurant had a decent atmosphere. I look forward to trying another value-for-money lunch menu next time. It was a delicious meal, thank you.
